You know, when I first visited your profile on here, I looked through your stories to see which ones I'd like to read. I saw that this one had 63 chapters, and I immediately thought I wouldn't be able to do it. But I DID! And I am so glad I did. This was a seriously amazing story, like all of yours, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Yes! Thank you! I totally agree about Cait Sith! I really never liked him. And when the second one appeared I was like, "Are you serious?!"

Here we go; what got me started on your writing so many years ago. I wish I could tell you I remember how or why I found your stuff. The pairing you offered was... unusual, at the time, as you are well aware. That may have been how I found it; I've been known to search for random pairings just to see what happens.
So, we start off with Sephiroth. There's a sense of urgency starting with the second sentence, and soon after, a small piece of his fragmented mind. Just a few sentences later, we see how unusual his mind/perspective is in that it seems that he hopes that despite the length of time since the incident, he still hopes that Nibelheim is still aflame. I can appreciate that as it shows his true mental state.
Shin-ra Incorporated. I'll note that I thought you tagged it wrong, then I remembered Shin-ra Inc... and I felt silly.
Interestingly, he is so dedicated to his goal, and that shows in his thought processes. There is a location he needs to be, an event that needs to occur, and he realizes that every action he takes is towards that goal.
Describing this man is an art, and you put it to canvas, and you paint it beautifully. His outfit, well worn for the travel he has done. And a note that his impeccable memory is flawed... and his mind is broken enough that it doesn't bother him, though it seems like he thinks it should be.
Back to his mind; it's a cacophony of the mostly insane, to the tiny "Stop what you're doing; this isn't you! Can't you hear me?!" that his mind is doing. And I do like the buried treasure analogy.
He is so angry at Cloud, but I have to wonder if his sanity is thanking Cloud. "You stopped this for me; thank you." And five years of strengthening... I'm curious what that looks like for a SOLDIER who is already intensely strong.
All in all, this first part is a good summary for those who haven't been to FF7world in a while.
Then, we enter the mindscape of Avalanche. So many people, and such good description as to who we're dealing with, and what they in turn are dealing with. There's so much good here, and I particularly appreciate how you're focusing on those who this story will continually focus on; them being Aeris, Tifa, and Cloud.
As a note, I'll be writing about Yuffie in time, as your portrayal of her later on makes me interested.
I didn't see any type of errors that needed correcting, so...
Onto the next chapter, then.

I don't know where to start! I first found this story on your homepage when I was in early middle school. I practically lived on your homepage for years, and have read all of your stories at some point or another. But I never got to finish the story, because at the time, either it wasn't finished or the links were broken. I graduated high school 5 years ago, and when I found this I can't even explain how excited I was. This is one of my favorite stories ever. I still remember the fanart that was made for the chapters. And just like back then, I know I will read this over and over and over. Thank you so much for reposting this, and I hope that you continue to write more!

I read this fanfic for the fist time, last year during the winter I think, its such an wonderful story and its extremly well-written, I lied awake two-three nights in a row while I read it, using it as comfort when my boyfriend broke up with me.

Finally getting over here to read this, I've been wanting to for so long now, but am way, way behind in my reading. I love how you write Sephiroth; he's not just some mindless monster, he does have a human side, which is manipulated and confused right now.
And I'm not sure if this is just me projecting what I know of the game onto your rendering of Cloud, but he seems 'off' - like, not himself, and of course we know he is not quite himself in the game, is he? well done, and I look forward to reading more. :)

You did a wonderful job on describing Sephiroth's looks from Aerith's point of view. It made me fall in love with his character all over again. Also, can't wait for the appearance of Cid, or "El Cid" as I have always called him for some unknown reason! Ha. I even change his name to that when I play FFVII. No idea why!

Poor Vin. My heart broke for him, not being able to talk to Lucrecia again. :/ Maybe he'll get a chance later? I'll see eventually, because guess what? I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought of was, "I've gotta see what will happen next." I always know for sure that a fic is quickly becoming a favorite when it's the first thing I wake up thinking about. I fell asleep thinking about it, too, and actually had to force myself to go to bed.
Can't wait to see what happens next. :)
