Hmm, short chappie, but something is good! I think I didn't get much into Opera because I didn't recruit her on the first playround...and I can't remember if I managed to work things out to get her the second time either . When I replayed the game way way later I got her, but I didn't manage to keep playing till the end.
Crazier characters are always more interesting than anything prim and proper, so I'll see what you end up writing for this =)
And I'll keep on prodding XD I've seen plenty of fanfic works stretch on for years at a time, so I'll just hang in here, as long as you have interest in writing. I understand Real Life sometimes shuts down writing, sometimes permanently, but I do hope you eventually write more for this story :) Thanks again for writing.

Heh, to be honest, I mostly liked Dias, Bowman, and Ashton the most in game...Precis was interesting due to her spunk, but her voice was annoying haha. I tend to dislike the canon pairings in games anyway, so having the Claude/Rena thing was never my cup of tea.
I did watch the anime, but I can't remember how Rena's character was exploded. Then again, the anime in general was...a little odd to me. I mostly watched it to see Ashton go demon-badass haha.
Hopefully our barrel lover shows up sometime soon? They are in Salva, after all. Guess we'll see. Thanks again for writing-I'll prod it from time to time to keep it alive!

Haha. Rats. I was hoping there'd be more Dias/Claude something, but I guess the fic can't degenerate into something like that already XD More world building first, yeah.
I'm wondering what you'll be doing with Celine; she wasn't a favorite character of mine, but I didn't dislike her.
And yes, I think in the manga Dias was much younger when his family was attacked; so moving that event further back into Dias' past is more logical.

Awww, I hope this fic keeps going-just saw your commentary that it got stuck in the mud for a while O_o Although, it's been updated recently so I guess that's a good sign!

I really like the interaction that Dias and Claude have; Dias is obviously talking far more than he ever does in game-although it's a necessity here, otherwise nothing would ever be said-but the manner in which he speaks fits his reticent character.

Awww poor horse. Cynic *snicker* I like how you've touched on that aspect of Claude looking like the prince; it wasn't much of a deal in-game, but it's neat to see you've used that element to ground Claude more firmly into the Expellian world.
Since you have Dias stuck with Claude, I'm wondering how you're running with this...not sure if you are shipping these two together or not (I hear the PSP version has a Dias/Claude subtext to it) so I'm curious to see how this pans out.

I felt the need to go kicking around for SO2 fanfic, specifically with Dias in it, since I always thought he was hot and the characterization for him in fanfics has always been interesting. I'm glad I stumbled on this fic!
Both Dias and Claude are in character; although I would say it seems like Claude is more level headed here than in game-in the game, at least initially, I got the sense of him being more unsure of himself. But otherwise they match what's in my head pretty well.
I see this fic isn't listed as complete yet, so I'll make sure to check for more chapters and review! Thanks for writing!

YEAH! I must say seeing this in my inbox really lifted my spirits. Despite Opera's dire situation I couldn't help but laugh several times (any hunky guys out there and the fact that she changed the voice on the spacecraft to Ernests). Thats Opera for you. I realized it was Opera at about the third paragraph. I don't know why it took me so long. I am so excited I cannot even words. This sentence also expresses my glee at seeing an update after a year.
Opera didn't seem that crazy to me in the game, but I did think she could be a little...over-enthusiastic.
And hey, technology is progressing faster than we thought, so retro-futurism is pretty much all we're left with when we look at a series that's over a decade old. It's not your fault~
But oh god update. UPDATE. MY GLEE.

But I'm glad I took the time to check to see if this updated today. Because I was in the mood for some excellent star ocean 2 fanfiction!
Specifically featuring my two favorite swordsmen.
And I must say, I'm very grateful to you for not letting this story die. It's one of my favorites!

I am overjoyed to see this updated! I really liked your take on the scenes here, and I thought that you handled Alen and Rena very well. I am looking forward to the next chapter and possibly some talk about the fact that Rena's sweet healing magic isn't normal (it's not actually Heraldry, she's never been trained in it, etc). The fights were a little confusing and sometimes hard to follow on the first read-through, but were still overall enjoyable.
