I *adore* the way you spin a story! And I'm impressed to death with the way you can find something in an episode that many of us would be hard-pressed to recall and connect it seamlessly to a larger, very plausible, J/C story. Well done!

Great story, Miz! I esp. got a good laugh out of this part:
"Right. I mean, after all, food is just nutritional biomatter." They both laughed. "This stuff is called surstromming."

I like your way with words as well as the "realism" (so to speak- perhaps insight would be a better word). You weave cannon and JC together well in this story. My favorite line:
"I cared too much, Chakotay. I couldn't be your lover and also be your captain, and I thought it was too late for things to be different between us. Seven years is a long time to deny the truth. I thought you'd moved on and that you'd just feel pity for me if I told you how I feel."
This makes all those years (seasons 4-7) seem as love supressed but not lost. Thanks.
