I would have love to know what Thranduil thought when he knew that this warg-slayer is indeed his son...

This was an amazing story as yours always are!
I loved the idea of the dreams running on into each other, it was very effective and was a great way of showing all their views on Anomens leaving Rivendell.
I also loved the ending!
Well done on another great story!

I find it hard to imagine an elf with the name of Figwit. Might I suggest taking another name?

So I know I started this story some time ago but I decided to start rereading it from the beginning as I couldn’t really remember what had happened.
Chapter one: Hahaha, I love the sequence of events that happened in the beginning and how Anomen had the wits to hightail it out of there from the get go instead of staying around to see what happened. Also, I love this line: “To be thrown into close quarters with Anomen and hundreds of sharp arrow points—this was not a prospect he found appealing!” It hade me laughing for a while because I could just imagine the horror that would have ensued.
Chapter two: I can’t imagine how scary that must have been for Anomen to be facing those wargs (I’m assuming they were wargs and not wolves) with nothing but elflings to help him. I had to laugh at this line: “She has told my sister never to cut toward herself” because although I too have been told that since childhood I have managed to cut myself twice over the last 8 months or so. The first time I managed to slice my palm open with a butter knife (a butter knife!) and then you would think that I would have learned my lesson, but no, a couple weeks ago I sliced my finger with a much sharper knife. I would like to say that I won’t do it again, but I’m not a very quick learner apparently.
Chapter three: I love how Nenmaethor asked Elrond if he knew of a healer. Too cute.
Chapter four: “Do not be so certain! I have heard dreadful tales about that Elrohir. Perhaps this Anomen will be just like him.”
“Judging from our son’s letters, the lad does not resemble Elrohir in the slightest. Anomen seems a very thoughtful young Elf, and no one has ever accused Elrohir of that!” Hahaha, poor Elrohir.
And I love this line: “My horse is faster,” deadpanned Glorfindel.” I guess men are the same through species and ages.
Chapter five: That was quite the elaborate dream, it almost makes you forget that it is one. I like the idea of Anomen braiding the twins hair together. I can see it now, they are dozing next to each other and he decides to get back at them for something so he braids their hair together, making sure to ties it securely so that it would not be easy to undo, and then wakes them up with a big noise at which point they both jump up and end up falling back to the ground as their hair pulls, thus providing Anomen time to get out of there before they can gang up on him.
Chapter six: I would be so traumatized if I was Arwen and found someone like that. Speaking of Arwen, you know what might make an amusing tale is if one day the three boys invite her to go swimming but she must decline and when they ask why she tries to explain in ladylike terms why she cannot at that particular time but the boys don’t get it and she has to keep trying to explain to them. Anyway, I have no idea where that idea came from but I just thought I would throw that idea out there in case you are bored one day.
Chapter seven: I like how the dreams are contagious. =)
Chapter eight: I like the Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter reference. I wonder if Thranduil knows he would only have to wait 102 days (not that I’m counting or anything ;) ). I also found it amusing how Elrond noticed the inconsistencies in Erestor’s speech right away.
Chapter nine: Haha, I loved how Arwen spoke her mind to Thranduil. I wish I could go back to being that old and being able to say whatever I wanted.
Chapter ten: “Then I hope you have a lovely walk in the garden. I shall tell Elrohir and Elladan to leave off shooting acorns at you.” And this is why I love children…that is unless you happen to be the one that they are speaking of.
Chapter eleven: Aww, the ending was sad but I liked the story. Great job! =)
Okay, now I seriously need to get back to studying...

This was probably one of my favorites of the ones that you have written (that I have read at least. I am working my way through them...). I think it would be wonderful if you wrote more, maybe that are timed after this one, where it gets around that 'Anomen' was the 'son' of Glorfindel... I think it was a brilliant idea.

Your talent with OC characters is, I'd venture to say, unmatched. They fit in so well they feel as though they were actually made by Tolkein himself. I personally consider them a part of Middle Earth as much as Gandalf or Elrond. However, this story leads me to wonder if Anomoen will ever meet Nenmaethor as Legolas, and if Nenmaethor will ever find out Legolas's true sire. Hm...

After carefully scanning your stories a second time I have stumbled upon the Glorfindel/Erestor scene I was looking for. It was funny as I remembered it. So now that I am sure of my mental health I would like to, once again, tell you that I think you're an amazing writer. Kudos on this story!

I think that you're an amazing writer and I've greatly enjoyed all of your stories. Present one included, of course, (and I can't wait for an update!)but I have a quick question. I swear there's a story of yours in which Glorfindel and Erestor are tricked into kissing by the twins. I just can't seem to remember or find which one. If you could direct me at it (and maybe the chapter) that would be great. If it doesn't exist then I'm obviously crazy and have to seek istitutional care.
Thanks,
~M

A very awesome and enjoyable end to this story. I feel very happy and proud of Anomen slaying the other warg and recieving all his gifts. : ) Also great to have him sliding downhill on the sheild like he did in Two Towers. ; )
I feel sad for Thranduil missing his son so much and his misery. I've been so busy with work, vacation, and my new puppy this summer that I haven't had much time to sit down and go back and read the other Anomen stories like I planned. : ( I still plan to start sometime (soon I hope), and then I'll finally understand all the back story with Thranduil, etc.
Have a great time in New Jersey and New York!

Now 'nomie gets to "Slide Out of Trouble".
Glorfindel is still dreaming but now it is a nice, wish fulfillment dream. In his dreams he can express his emotions to 'nomie and how capable the elfling has become.
What fun to go scouting with Glorfindel all alone. No wonder Elrohir is jealous. Part of him probably wants to be with 'nomie more than with a Glorfindel that is as exacting as Erestor but in a different field of endeavour. Being elves they have all the time in the world to learn things out of books. But they need to learn how to survive in an Arda that is becoming increasingly more hostile.
The twins have to mind the elflings. Yes Elrohir all your sins have risen up to haunt you now. Even Elrond wonders of Elrohir will ever learn his lesson, not likely but not impossible for the extremely impulsive Elrohir.
It is nice to see 'nomie's abilities, his confidence in those abilities and how very good he is with this new bow. A born archer with a great teacher.
Ah tracking. I couldn't find a black cow in a snow covered field. And I would never go near scat. I saw that Grizzly Man documentary and he got a little too enthused over the bears scat for me. Ick. That is what indoor plumbing is for and as for outdoors, forget it.
MEN. They are always up to no good aren't they? This one was no exception. Anomen was very brave and also very smart. His reasoning on the matter was very adult. Glorfindel was suitable impressed.
A real big elf's bow, shield, sword and warrior's knife. Won't Elrohir be ticced off at this? After all they are older than 'nomie. Maybe they have their adult things now though because they are older. Anyway he has them and I bet he feels very grown up.
I love you and I I I love you too. Why can't people say this more often?
Today we are on a first name basis at first meeting or we are considered very strange. It used to be we showed respect by using more formal titles, Mr Mrs and Miss. Allowing someone the intimacy, the familiarity of first names cemented friendships. I don't know which I like best but there is nothing like having someone finally allow you to call them by their first name. Or in this case drop the Lord and just use a name. I thought that was very sweet.
Elrohir is so dramatic. So elfling like to veer from adult speech to whining youngling. One foot in each camp I think.
I think in your haste to leave us and go have fun;o) you have mistaken Elrohir for Elrond. On second reading it is Erestor you have called Elrohir. It is when the adults are talking quietly about 'nomie. Too many E's in the environs of Imladris that is for sure.
Arwen is so sure that 'nomie will do just what she asks and she is right. Her unconditional love is so precious to him. Mithrandir is correct. Anomen is Arwen's big loving brother and will always be. He probably takes care of Aragorn just for her and stays until the two are gone from Arda before he leaves for Aman.
A much better plan to get goodies from the cook. Begging with big blue eyes will get you a lot of things that little sneaky thieves won't get. You don't have to pay the piper when you get caught either.
Uh Oh Wargs and the sliding shield is put into use again. Now we have a frisbee move and it works very nicely and then the coup d' gras with his new warrior knife. She dropped her berries, at least she escaped with her life. And 'nomies little breakdown shows how much he loves his little sister. He has a little hysteria going there.
That poor shield, first a body board, then a frisbee now a sled for Arwen. It will need a lot of polishing now. And Glorfindel goes from anger to a little awe about the oliphaunt sized 'wolf' that is really, sh, a warg. Bad things are sneaking around now more than ever.
How nice for 'nomie. And how kind of embarrassing too. So public and all. But for a lonely elfling who came to them with nothing he went from zero to hero. It is good the warg was as big as an oliphaunt to make all those nice things for him.
And as for Nenmaethor's letter, Thranduil still has a long ways to go before he can truly appreciate his son. Right now he is just enjoying his pity parties, he needs to grow beyond that stage.
Now you have another elf to join Legolas' circle of friends in Mirkwood somehow. Maybe he can fianlly return and be a real healer and take care of Tathar or Legolas if they get wounded. Another bunny for you?
Enjoy your visit. I just got back from my mom and dad's place. It was a lovely visit. I hope the same for you.
Thanx for a final chapter of sliding

Now it is Galadriel's turn to dream.
I love Arwen and 'nomie's relationship. They are so loving. Arwen is so like a child here. Sweet, sly and big mouthed. And Thranduil was attacked by nuts, but which ones? Acorns or the twin nuts.
So the big question, if you truly knew your son. And he really doesn't. Can he acknowledge that?
You fell on your leg not your head. Erestor is so good at this. And then he burst into tears when agitated over the final big decision. How unlike sensible Erestor. Everyone is in shock. Arwen is away for one of her best bouquets.
This is a dream, and a good one. Thranduil is aware that his son was well cared for, well educated and well loved. So we go from sorrow to joy. If this were not a dream Legolas would be on his way to Greenwood all tied up. Thranduil is not yet ready for fatherhood. He still has a lot to learn. It was a good trade.
'The ability to recognize when one’s child should be entrusted to another is the mark of a wise and loving parent.' Erestor is too happy to care what Galadriel says. He is also too happy to care what Glorfindel says. They will be needling each other soon, dream or no dream.
They regained their calm after those nightmares. Perhaps they feel less of a burden about keeping Legolas from his father. Having the dream king acknowledge that he could regain his son only by letting him go helped them all.
Thanx for a very grown up ending

This is a wonderful story. I do not yet know if either of the two stories you mentioned are a sequel to this, as i have not yet had time to look at the rest of your stories, but if they are not then i would entreat you to write one, as i would like to know what happens next and to see Thranduil hopefully happily reunited with his son. Once again, this is an excellent story, and i am soon going to read the others.
