Once again, I am astounded by how thoroughly you've analyzed Renault's character and history. The "Renault the Impervious" title was one that I only found after carefully reading through the support between Renault and Wallace, and you used that one detail to make an awesome chapter.
I wish Renault the Mercenary Lord was the character that we meet on Dread Isle instead of Renault the bishop, he could probably solo the entire Kishuna chapter :P and maybe even fight Nergal single-handedly.
On a note about the Dark General class, I always had a different idea about it based on the Witch-King of Angmar from Lord of the Rings. My Dark General would have S Rank in swords, axes (maces), dark magic, AND anima magic. He would also have very high stats except for 0 luck (ringwraith morph) and meh speed (15). Sounds overpowered, but hey, it's the f*cking Witch-King of Angmar :P

I finally got around to reviewing this! First off, many thanks for reviewing "Altering History"; good to know some people have been keeping up with it :D
Onto the review: I'm really having fun reading about Wallace's days as a squire with Renault as his mentor and Lyn's parents at his age. Your characterization of them is natural and it all flows together perfectly. There were some scenes that I really liked: Hassar, Wallace, and Renault fighting the bullies, meeting Edmun, and seeing Wallace gradually being molded into a knight. Your battle scenes are amazing and I think it's pretty interesting that the bandits they're fighting are morphs. I'm a little pressed for time here, so I'll just say that this story is flawless and leaves the reader wanting more. I eagerly await the next update. Good job man!

Hey, Gunlord! Been a while... as usual. Didn't forget you, though!
Interesting how Renault and co. accepted a job at Sacae when only offered a jewel and some dusty old book. Guess they can’t be too picky, huh? Nice job on the battle, though! You did well with painting the scene and Renault’s reaction to getting another notch on his belt with his kill.
The next job definitely didn’t go so well for the poor guy. Renault stabbing the thief in the groin managed to get a laugh. But it’s good to see that despite all his training with Tassar, Renault’s still no peerless fighter.
In the scene regarding the Synod, I particularly like how some mentioned selfless proposals to avert taxes on the commoners – selling off some property the churches earned. And to be honest, I see no reason why it shouldn’t be done here. Tax the churches, right? Ah well. Don’t mean to get all political here. xD
Good stuff.

Hey, my friend! Here to check out the latest chapter.
Lots to like as usual in this chapter. I think one of the things that stuck out the most for me is just how much Renault has matured since the beginning of the story and even since his time with Nergal. His criticism of Wallace for his racist attitude did a good job reflecting Renault's new world view. Along with that, I really have a hard time imagining Wallace without hair and even more looking rather bishounen (which I presume is what you have in mind). It's not bad as much as it is somewhat humorous given how we're all used to the hulking bald wall of steel from the game.
The sage's reaction to Wallace was rather surprising but I assume more will be explored with this later. It was good to see Madelyn introduced although I was surprised to see her as a cleric. Was there a reason or just author's decision?
As a last note, I look forward to the growing broship between Wallace and Hassar. I always wish there had been more about that in FE7. Either way, I like the way you write Hassar; it makes a lot of sense and fits his character well.
Sorry I don't have anything really in the way of criticism. I thought this chapter was great and look forward to the next as usual.

Another great chapter. I love that Madelyn and Hassar are also included in this Caelin arc, and am very curious about the source of these morphs. I just KNOW Nergal is behind it but nonetheless...
And who is the red-headed lady? I wonder, I wonder.
Keep up the great work.

Whoo...damn. Took me a good three days to pick up where I left off. Excellent work my friend, excellent work indeed.
I saw the "big twist" coming, as all who know what little backstory we are given about Renault did and was genuinely sad for poor Braddock. I think it's really cool that Renault will wind up meeting Canas, a descendant of Paptimus, and Merlinus: descendant of Lisse.
I was suspicious about Lisse and Merlinus for a while and then really thought about it once she was called a "Transporter" by Henken. Niime, Canas, and Hugh being related to Paptimus and Meris I didn't see coming though. I knew her child would be important but I didn't know WHO it would be, or who it would lead to.
Your fic along with a few others have inspired me to take up writing FE fanfiction. Elibe is so wonderful with so many characters and such to work with. You've done a great job with Renault and every canon character thus far. Even your OCs, for the most part, fit in well with Fire Emblem. I can also see how your writing has improved over the years and throughout the fic (it showed the most immaturity during the Hell's Wall sub-arc, that particular journey feeling a tad too shonen) but even then it was good.
I hope you never give up on this and, seeing how many years you've put into it, I doubt you will.

Hey Gunlord! I am sorry I took so long to get to this chapter. Regardless, I really enjoyed this chapter. There were a lot of small details scattered throughout that I found fantastic. For a brief list, I loved how you showed the progression of technology over the 200 years of his wandering, the way you managed to tie in Renault's armor to the sprite design of the generals, and even the introduction of Hassar into the story. It all feels very natural and logical with what we are presented in FE7.
One thing that I've noticed with the last few chapters is that I think your pacing is much improved from some of your earlier chapters near the beginning of the story. It was just something I noticed since I was surprised at how quickly I finished the chapter. Overall, great work as always. Looking forward to 51!

Sweet! It's been a while since the last chapter, and I'm really happy that we are now moving in to official FE7 storyline :D TIME FOR SOME WALLACE! (although I never see him in Eliwood/Hector mode because my Lords are arena and RNG abused to level 20 and I get the version with Linus in Four-Fanged Offense)
But seriously, Jarvan and Garen never return after fighting a bunch of morphs? BLASPHEMY! Garen would spin to win the shit out of them with 4000 HP and a Black Cleaver, and Jarvan is just too manly to die. Yes, I play League of Legends too, let's talk about it later :D
If you have time, please review my own FE fic as well! It's been a while since the first chapter, and the three Ls (Lloyd, Linus, and Legault) are having their own fun little time in Eliwood's army.
Keep on writing, my good man!

Wallace and Hassar. They were bros apparently, so that should be fun. And Braddock may be resurrected? Unless it was the morph that Nergal made before their falling out, though I believe that morph was killed, but I'm not 100% on that.
