And this final chapter is awesome, too. If Victoria really had to wait another year for marriage because she was a widow, I could imagine her parents forgoing it because they are so desperate to stay out of the poorhouse. So of course it's more for their selfish reasons, but at least Victor and Victoria can be happy so they don't have to wait too long to finally be together.
So I take it this cottage is where Victor and Victoria have made their permanent home? That would be nice, since I even wondered where they would live once they married and they'd need a place of their own. Now that they are on their own, Victoria doesn't have to listen to her parents' rules of keeping on a corset, keeping her hair tied up, and playing the piano, and who else but Victor would give her lessons? :) I like the idea of Victor working in his father's fishing business, but also continue to sketch and even lean towards a career as a pianist.
Now that Victoria no longer lives with her parents, she is living happy since she has someone she loves and who loves her...along with a future arrival to love, too. It's good that she can still see Hildegarde, too, and I'm sure seeing Hildegarde happy makes her happy, too.
I like the idea of Victor drawing butterflies here, since he did so in the start of the film. heck, even before the end, butterflies were referred to a few other times previously. I'm sure they both believe that they are a part of Emily, and that she is as happy as they are. And since it has been an entire year since Emily went to heaven, it's the best time for Victoria to tell Victor her promise to honor Emily, so what better way to do that than to name their child Emily if it is a girl. I know Victor would believe it's a wonderful idea, and I do, too.
Yet another awesome story. ;)

Now it's also a good idea to have a chapter with Victor after all that's recently happened. I do believe that he loved Emily after he had gotten to know her, particularly since they both shared a fondness for music, especially the piano. But he still loved Victoria more. I think part of what made him warm to Emily was when she reunited him with Scraps, and I bet he had wanted to ask her how she knew Scraps was his dog and when she learned to play the piano. I bet when Emily was alive, people still thought music was improper for young women, and I'm sure Victor thinks a rule like that is ridiculous. So he may never know if he would have been happy with Emily, but it was shown that he did love her, like how he looked at her in the church when she appeared. He was going through with this because he believed he had lost Victoria, but it was also because he wanted to make Emily happy. Ultimately, all three of them are happy now that Emily is free and Victor and Victoria are back together. I'm sure the couple will forever be grateful to Emily for what she did for them. :)
Then when his parents come home, I could see Nell trying to scold him for everything and wondering what became of Mayhew. Of course, she'd think Victor is making up the part about the Land of the Dead, but then believes it when both her and William remember people talking about the "dead walking among us." So now she believes it and realizes just how much she cared about him. But I'm sure Mayhew knows that, and he's happy where he is now. And soon everyone else will be happy with what their futures hold for them. :)

I really like how you describe Victoria's thoughts here following Emily's transformation into butterflies. She has a lot of mixed feelings right now, like she's happy that Barkis is gone and that she is with Victor again. I'm sure she thought that, at first, Emily was a terrifying person who dragged Victor to an unpleasant place. But I know that she would think differently once Emily gave Victor back to Victoria, and especially when Emily saved both of them from Barkis.
I can bet that Maudeline and Finis would be shocked upon hearing that not only is Barkis dead, but that he didn't have any money, either. Of course, her parents were desperate to save them all from the poorhouse. And I agree with you on Victoria that her parents being uncaring people who probably didn't want children, especially a daughter. Hildegarde has been more of a mother to her than Maudeline ever was, so it's no wonder Victoria would be upset over this revelation. I think she was the only reason why Victoria grew up feeling happy enough with that kind of love. But at least now she has someone else who will love her. :)

Awww, I 3 tired!Victor. You portray him so well! The way he thinks so fondly of Emily and Victoria, but in completely separate ways is just so very in character! LOVING THIS.

Absolutely lovely. The characterization was spot-on, and the tone (a mix of light humor and romance) made this feel almost like an extension of the film. Great job. :)

According to your story, the corpse-bride's memory will live on because Victor & Victoria have decided to name their first child "Emily" if it is a girl. Oh, so touching! The story is very well written, vividly descriptive, and amazingly believable. Great Job!

In the town where Victor lived, it was frowned upon for women to play the piano. Personally, Victor thought that the town's way of thinking was ridiculous! HE loved music and it didn't matter to him if it was played by a woman. I liked that about him. This story has a lot going for it. Hooray!

I was filled with emotion when the corpse-bride held out her hand to Victoria at the wedding ceremony and gave her back to Victor. This story is packed with excitement, tears, and joy. A great read! Really enjoyed it.
