This is beautiful. How sad for John. And how sad for his father that there was no way he could ever know about John's heroism even if he had wanted to. This fits nicely with canon. And it's perfect that he would confide in Teyla. Watching the episode, I kept thinking it was too bad RL was out on maternity because having Ronon with him instead of Teyla for the trip to Earth meant we never really saw John confide his feelings in anyone. This story fixes everything.

I am so glad you wrote this! I really wanted an explanation of where Teyla would have been and why she would have gone missing even if to tell John she was sorry for his loss. This was wonderfully written, very true to their natures.
