Thank you for writing and sharing a story of such beauty! Both in words and in plot you depict this journey of forgiveness with elegance and grace. This story goes beyond mere entertainment to stir the heart, something of which I believe Tolkien would have heartily approved. It has been a joy and a gift reading your tale thus far and I look forward to its continuation.

Glad to see the update, I was literally checking for it about 5 times a day! Good chapter, is a member of the family going to bump into him on a trade mission with this emerging kingdom or something?

This was a lovely chapter. As I said before, I am really enjoying this story and as always, will be waiting eagerly for more! Keep up the amazing work and please update as soon as you possibly can!

Beautiful! I think this chapter was very much needed in the plot. The chapter gave me a sense of hope and sadness at the same time.

I really hope Thranduil makes an entrance soon...he's my favorite LOTR character. Will Aragorn make an appearance? Please say that it is not so...that might totally ruin the plot(in my opinion)!

Update soon, okay?

Ahhhh A little peace for our Legolas, finally 3

Love it and want to see more but can't wait for the undoubtedly raucous adventure that going back to the elven world will be! I vote for at least one bit in Rivendale, but you're the writer who knows best :D Write more soon!

Liked this chapter, especially Legolas's introspection. He really has come a long way, hasn't he? And I'm impressed that you managed to condense such a long time period into so (relatively) few chapters (most authors, myself included, could easily spend 24 chapters on a couple of weeks) while still giving a good indication of what's going on.

Was the game at the beginning a game in LotR? (Although it also really seems to resemble other similar medieval-ish games, like fox-and-geese)

Anyways, please update soon!

This, again, was a very sad and reflective chapter. I think it was needed, though. It was a little shocking to learn how long he has been a slave. It seems to have got him thinking about his family again, so hopefully it will trigger him into some action about his family.

I was relieved that he still wants to make amends with his father and brothers. I am sure that when he attempts it they will correct him with the reminder that it is they, and not Legolas, who really need to apologise.

I am probably alone in feeling this way, but it is fairly grim to see Legols acting as a servant to Vid's family, even though they are good. I think it is hard to see the way he respects them and then be reminded that he is still their slave. But that is just a personal thing, I think.

It has been so interesting to see how, over the last few chapters, Legolas has grown as a person. I personally feel he has done more growing since escaping Uri than he has in the rest of the entire story. It's good to see him regaining a bit of confidence and losng some of the self doubt that has tainted him until now.

Eh, I wish I could break into the story and tell him that everything is going to be okay in th end. I do feel sorry for him here. I mean...if only he knew what is so obvious to the rest of us! Again, I'll be interested to see where this goes and how Legolas moves from Vegard to his family again. I am also curious to know whether guards were sent out to look for Legolas by his father after he was sold like Vid's father looked for him. I look forward to finding out! :)

Yay! I am so glad I was wrong about Vidugelmi. It was a very kind and selfless thing to do - and I am actually glad he did this, rather than save Legolas last chapter, because now all the other slaves are freed. Also, Uri was overthrown, which is great. He was a fool to think he had 'won' because someone like him will only fritter that gold away on worthless things. I am sure (hopeful!) that it will bring him nothing but grief in the end, and rightly so.

Also, it must have cost Vidugelmi a lot to leave his son so soon after getting him back. I get the impression he stayed while Legolas was unconscious. I could be wrong, but I don't think he'd have had enough time. It makes his actions seem all the better. But I expect he did it for his son in a way, too, as even though Vid is young he won't forget Legolas. Well, I hope he wouldn't have anyway.

I have to admit, that for a second when Uri said Legolas was dead, my heart jumped a bit and I believed it. It took a few moments for me to remember...he *can't* be dead. Doh! That made me feel a bit better, I must admit.

Legolas is so close to his old home now (geographically, I mean). He must feel so odd, to be back here where it all started. Vid's dad hit the nail on the head when he said that it was Legolas own guilt stopping him from returning home, but hopefully he will overcome this. I look forward to finding out how! He must do, unless his family somehow comes to him. This is plausible, now they are so close together. :)

However, I also think that for now, at least, it is for the best that Legolas stays with Vid’s family, even if that does mean he remains a slave for a little longer. Due to his guilt, he is unlikely to return home on his own just yet – and where else would he go? He would just find trouble, whereas at least he is safe, with Vid who loves him, if he stays with the Northmen. At the same time, I hope he does not remain a slave for them for too long a time as he does need to find his feet and realise he really is a very good person.

Wow. It is extremely hard to stop reading and write this review after that ending! But I know I have to or I will forget everything :/

I have to admit that I did hope Legolas was wrong, and the new riders were actually Vid's family come to save him. However, I am very glad Legolas got a chance to fight properly. I guess know he would know how to use the mithril knife his brothers were so angry about! It was great to see him so...defensive. And, for the first time this story, you have shown him as the formidable warrior we know from the books/films. It was fitting that he tried to talk them out of it, and that he wouldn't shoot that evil man in the back. I think most other people would have, when their lives were at stake.

For a minute, I did genuinely believe the men would simply turn around and leave Legolas and the cave alone. I should have known better, as that would be to easy. But I had Rance pictured as an idiotic man like Uri.He is a lot more calculating and vicious than that, though, as you showed us in this chapter.

Also, I love that you had Legolas call Vid 'my own'. It was strange, because he's not had anything or anyone to call his own in a very long time - they have formed such a special bond. Even after this ending I cannot imagine that this is the end of the road for Legolas and Vid.

And your fight scene was very well written, by the way. :) I've never really tried to write one, but I can imagine that they must be pretty difficult. It's hard to convey the speed of the movement and the intensity with which the fighters work with mere words, rather than a camera, but you have pulled it off!

I was so happy that Vid's father came for him. I thought we would have to wait a bit longer for that to happen when Vid's original captors came but I am glad it happened now. It is nice to see one happy ending play out.

On the other hand, I found his father's actions to be a little...disappointing. I understand that there was a law, and as a king he couldn't really disobey it...but come on, Legolas had just saved his son! He would never have found Vid again if it hadn't been for Legolas! *This* is why I hate politics. When a life is at stake, politics should count for nothing. Politics only exists to pump rich, powerful men’s egos anyway. If I was in charge, my priority would be to help the people in need. I wish every leader had this priority! Might have saved Legolas’ from going back with Uri and his men.

Anyway. That really has nothing to do with the story. Sorry! From your ending, I am hoping that Vid’s father (there’s no way I can write his name from memory! How did you think of these names?) is going to something good that will make me think he is a hero.

Oh, yeah, and the length of this chapter was wonderful! I was hooked the whole way through.

this story is not over is it? hope not :(

Wow! Short as this chapter was, Legolas' thoughts if his elven home and family where spot on from what I thought it would be. Although I know Legolas would never let it slip, I wish the house would find out about his birthday. Such a maelstrom of emotions. One thing left out when reminiscing about Mirkwood (and this is just my thoughts of course) was guilt of the staff he abused as well. What would the majority of the people think considering who they remember. He has many people to seek forgiveness from. But I get it, this night was reserved for family.

I see him very hesitant and unsure of himself returning home. Actually, closer to scared but resolute at doing the right thing. Ahhh, you've make me love this story too much Mia.

OH MY GOD!

I think that I'll never understand how you manage to impress me more and more, time after time! You touch my heart in incredible ways! I was happy, then extremely sad, then hopeful! How do you do that, huh ^-^?

I liked the way you described Legolas' turmoil. There was so much beauty in that moment, so much grace. Sometimes, it feels like your story is helping me with my own personnal issues.

By the way, I am completely in love with that chapter's ending! WOW!

As always, I can't wait for the next chapter(s). I'm really excited to know how this terrific story will end... but I still hope that there are a few chapters left before the end ;)!

P.S: You should really consider writing your own stories, with your own characters! I'm convinced that you would be a brilliant writer! I would definitely buy your books ;)!

Another beautiful chapter! Wow. 80 years as a slave... and as of now, more than half of his life? Long, long time. An entire lifetime of a human.

Would be interesting to have a quick snap shot of what Legolas' family is doing at that moment and whether they were thinking of him on his birthday, but that might take a while to write and honestly, I would rather you finish the story than include those scenes (unless you already planned to write them...)

I really liked the connection to the earlier chapters with the mention of the Song of Iluvatar, and thus, the title.

I look forward to seeing how many years will pass in between Legolas' life in your next chapter update!

Please update again soon!
