for Leave It to Solo or Beaver Joins the Alliance

It's hard to imagine a less natural crossover than Star Wars and Leave It to Beaver, but you pulled it off. Even better, everyone's relatively moderate reaction to the absurdity of the situation they're in adds an extra layer of surreal reality, bordering on magical realism.

Interesting to witness a fanfic older than the internet, however. You've been in this for the long haul, and it shows, as you handle the bizarre premise that could have so easily been mishandled with appropriate light-hearted fun. Even for someone like myself who is unfamiliar with "Leave It to Beaver," it was still perfectly inteligible, and the "moral" the dad gives at the end made me chuckle.

By the way, nice use of the word "masher." That's always good for a laugh.

The scary part about this is, you made it work. The characterization fit perfectly for all parties involved, and you got the differing tones to mesh with each other.

Good job.

Loved this. It was pointed out at OSA and I am not sorry I checked it out. Very well done. I can see both sets of characters clearly in this and they do the originals justice.

Thank you for sharing.

Great to see you posting this. I never saw an episode of Leave It To Beaver, and so I gather only by the delighted reaction of the fans who know that fandom that the characters of this show are spot on, too - but Han Solo and Chewie are great in this, and it works perfectly. Thank you for writing and sharing! :)

I tend to avoid crossovers like the plague. They're just not my cup of tea. But how does any good die hard Star Wars fan NOT read a Star Wars/Beaver crossover? Curiosity wouldn't let me pass this by, and I'm so glad I didn't because it's delightful! You got the character voices on both sides nailed (loved the LITBeaver stuff. It was so spot on!) And seeing Han and Chewie in such a setting was hilariously funny. Well written and quite enjoyable. Keep this up and I may start reading crossovers. :P

This is the kind of story I gravitate toward, no matter to fandom: heavy on the dialogue, crammed full of good and interesting details, true to the canon characters' voices throughout, and hidey-holed with fandom in-jokes. Very clever and engaging; a pleasure to read.
