I really liked this story. I'm sorry to see that it's not complete and apparently hasn't been updated in a year or so. Hope it gets finished one day.

First off, thanks for a story that has a grasp of the conventions of the English language. Well appreciated. Love a Scotty story, especially one that doesn't make him a caricature. Solid early scenes with the youngsters not knowing Sc was the Miracle Worker, but the girl suspecting he was someone. (Though wouldn't most starfleet engineers know the famous Enterprise senior crew and their exploits by now, especially one with a distinctive brogue talking engineering, even in civvies? He'd be a legend and they learned by his texts.) Also love the antagonism with the inspector being driven mad by his re-working of nearly everything on the ship, and often imagined a similar scenario-though having the conflict peak by having a woman hit Scotty seemed a bit of a reach. (And he'd even consider hitting a woman back? I don't think so.) I want to like Kincaid, and often do, though she has a few too many perfect MarySue moments for me. (New young character, too smart, too pretty, too competent, has all the answers for a main character's problems, MC instantly in love with her, etc.) I'd like to see Scott less puppy dog in love and more in charge around her. I just think she'd be more in awe of the Great Scott, not the other way around. Just my humble opine. Keep going. It is a good story.

I'm enjoying the story but have to agree with a previous review - if the danger was that great, and the damage to the Enterprise is so great it's being towed back, and Scott and Kincaid had almost gotten themselves killed over all this - Kirk would not only be royally ticked off, but demanding explanations and taking some kind of action. It's his job, after all.

It's good to see this being updated regularly again, and I'm loving the relationship between Scott and Kincaid.
BUT... the ship's been seriously damaged, and it's some time before Kirk even knows whether his friend Scotty is alive or dead. And he's NOT kicking Beauregard around engineering and chewing her out? He waits till Kincaid does that, and then just backs her up when Beauregard goes running to him? I don't buy that - Kirk would have had to be physically restrained from doing the Inspector some damage - AND he'd have been straight down to sickbay to see Scotty when he was finally rescued.
It would have been good to see Kirk visit Scott in sickbay too.

Still lovely-that inspector is quite the gal, isn't she...? So glad Scotty is handling the pressure, and quite beautifully, too. Still love the McCoy/Scott interaction, though I'm actually very fond of your Kincaid, too. Or is it Scotty's Kincaid? :) Seeing as I don't usually do OCs, that says a lot about the quality of your work. Loving it!
