I love the way you weave so much Winchesterness into your story. For example, the way John thinks about how talking to Dean about Sam being okay can keep Dean going, even if Dean's all beaten up, and I love when John considers the fact that Dean shines as a caretaker. That's so true! The way Sam is described as being thick between them-that also adds a nice touch of Winchester background. The background elements of the Winchester family really make this story feel... Winchester.
I love this line: "The Winchester family was in a strange place, where everything (even the things John used to trust in unfailingly) seemed fragile." Love it!
This whole chapter was fantastic and subtly powerful, but the part that really gave me chills was when Dean said Skye was beautiful, and John mistook him for talking about the sky. My heart just clenched right there. I measure a story's excellence by its power to manipulate my emotions and make me feel for the characters and intrigued by what is happening to them and around them. This story is definitely excellent!

*sigh* The John here is a man that loves his children and wants them to be happy. This is the John that I like. I can only hope he will see recognize later on what it is that makes his child happy.

Can I come into the story and just hold Dean? I would never try to replace Skye, I just want to comfort him! lol. Character discription: Petite, 5ft 1in, Short/kinda spiky auburn hair, fair skin, green eyes, hourglass figure, atheletic muscle tone, eyes have been called "bedroom eyes" and "catlike"...Not that I'm pushing or anything. LMAO!
This story in the Skye 'verse is just heart wrenching! I love it, but it makes me hurt for Dean. Does that make sense? The way you have written this...the description has drawn such a vivid image. I read and his anguish burns me. Most people wouldn't come back after the sadness...but as Sam said, "You're like the lab rat that keeps pushing the pleasure button instead of the food button until it dies" paraphrasing of course. You just amaze me with each story I read.

You do such an excellent job of capturing the characters! I can totally visualize Dean and John here-Dean trying to keep his mourning to himself, but still crushed and wounded by it; and John-worried and frustrated by being unable to figure out what is going on with his son. Haha, and the towel thing-clever move by Dean, and also kinda funny...and I still wanna give Dean a hug! Keep up the awesome work!
