I like Ecthelion. He's a pal. Inglor shouldn't have left his position vulnerable. Not that I think Haleth is in danger of falling for E, but he sure is fun. :D It's great that he has a sense of humor (Can you imagine teasing the balrog slayer? Eeps. I guess you'd have to be one too). Humor seems to be lacking in the other elves. It is nice to know that elven ladies sometimes get their dresses soiled. LOL. Also, I like that Celebrian is sympathetic. The Tale Fire scene was fantastic. Loved the imagery. But poor Haleth and those awful memories. Seriously want to find out what's going on with her pscyhe and that Feanorian.
So, when is she throwing Inglor over her shoulder and sailing off to Numenor?
Also, as you can see, I've reached the latest chapter, so you're going to have to update or I'll run presently mad. ;)

Atta boy, Elrond! Tell her like it is. Geez. It's so hard to get straight answers out of these elves that Elrond is like a breath of fresh air. Really, Haleth and Inglor need all the intervention they can get.
Oh, Haleth! Haleth! Inglor has always taken her so literally. If she told him to go away, I'm not at all surprised he listened - to the extreme. At least Ecthelion arrived in his place? I'm glad we get to see him again. I wonder if Inglor wasn't a little miffed though, considering his reaction to Haleth's excursion to the beach. Off-scene jealousy?
So, it should be a relief that Haleth has a plan, but yeah, totally fixating on Inglor's absence. ;) How on earth are you going to fix this situation?

First off let me say how much I loved opening my email and finding out there was a new chapter, and secondly what an awesome freaking chapter. I go back and forth between being totally enamored and completely irritated with Ecthelion. I love the bit between Haleth and him over there desserts. He seems so much like the kid in school constantly trying to prove to the new girl that he is undoubtedly the coolest guy there. Haleth can't ever seem to get a break! Absolutely loved the chapter and look forward to the next. Hopefully, Inglor will return or Haleth will hunt him down and give him a piece of her mind! I really want to see him explain his Spock like reasoning behind that ring.

Uh... ? Another chapter so soon ? That is wonderfull :D It seems to me that this chapter is important. The part with Echtelion and his song about "a young man who loved a woman far above him" is very interesting. If it refers to Tuor, I suppose Echtelion is trying to tell Haleth something about Inglor ? And what about her last vision ? Had she not seen this elf at the banquet, in a vision too if I remember well ? Is she some sort of reincarnation of an elleth/woman (I think woman) from past time ? She is not the "real" Haleth as in the Simarillon, isn't she ? And the elf is not Caranthir ? I have not read the Simarillon in a long time but I think it is Caranthir who had met the historical Haleth. But what about Inglor in this case ? You know that you have managed to get my mind in a frenzy. Do not be worried about all my questions, I can not help asking like a young child. I certainly hope to have another chapter soon.
Thank you for this chapter, it was very good !

This is a review for 32-33 since I originally Ieft a general review for the story on 32. How exciting to find all the new chapters waiting for me! I'm glad your muse seems to have decided to play along. :D I was starting to worry that I'd catch up and have nothing to look forward to.
32. I think Haleth wouldn't be Haleth if she preferred good food and comfort over solitude and speed. I can see how the procession toward the sea would be irritating in the extreme. Though she might have enjoyed it better if she realized that a faster pace would've only brought her face to face with Inglor sooner.
Is Inglor being culturally compliant (re: not allowing H. to push the boat, worry about her feet getting wet) for Anaire's sake, or is he in a subtle way, actually kind of courting Haleth? The boat situation reminds me of their interactions on Middle-earth, only Inglor usually lost whenever he tried to assist Haleth. Forget trying to make her behave like a lady! The tables have turned against her now. Home field advantage, I guess.
I doubt Inglor was searching for signs of cataracts. But what? Poor, ruffled Haleth. The whole conversation was unsettling. They're still talking around one another and seem to be at cross-purposes with Inglor wanting her to settle into elvish society and Haleth wanting to hide from it. It's really too bad that their short-lived moment of camaraderie on the bench at Arafinwe's party was so short-lived. And the eye-gazing seems to have put a real gouge into the already bruised relationship, even worse than the question of the ring.
33. Alas. Since Haleth and Bilbo are both burglars, I had hoped they might have enjoyed discussing their professional experience instead of Haleth's undies being all in a bunch most of the time. She seems to have completely unnerved the poor Hobbits. Still. This little exchange made me laugh. I enjoy your sense of humor.
'Which one?' he asked.
'Frodo,' said Bilbo at the same instant that Frodo said 'Bilbo.' While Inglor said 'I believe there was only one Smaug.'
It was elating, even for me, when Haleth found renewed vigor in trying to recover Frodo's button. We all want her to be happy and to find her way, so it was equally crushing when Inglor had the darn thing all along. I would not have been at all surprised if Haleth had chucked the silver ring at Inglor's forehead at the end of this chapter. What is to become of them?

Quite the dramatic evening. From the beauty of the butterfly dance (which I personally would love to see) to the terror of seeing Feanor and his sons, her longing for her home, her confusion about her purpose in Aman, her pity party; Haleth ran a gamut of emotions. I did enjoy her self deprecating comment in "Her personality could be generously described as cantankerous." I did miss Inglor in this chapter and hope to see him soon. I am unsure about Haleth having a bit of a crush on Ecthelion, perhaps because he is showing her more positive attention than Inglor ever did.
BTW it was great to see a new chapter, hope your muse keeps you writing lots. :))

AWWWWWW. For crying out loud. This is a wonderful chapter - the Quest for the Missing Button ranks among one of the best bits of situational comedy I've read in a while - but poor Haleth. She must be one of the most wonderfully, ridiculously human characters in Tolkien fandom.

Okay, that was weird. So I *did* read Chapter 28 before - because I remembered Angrod, and evidently I reviewed at the time as well.
And now I'm stunned by the ring scene in THIS chapter, and trying very hard to remember when they were Dale together and when Inglor gave her the ring. I need to find that and read it again.
Nice poignant moment between the pair earlier, with Inglor's sense of - I'd almost called it a sense of inherited illegitimacy or bastardom. The sense of a wrongness or shame about Finwë's marriage and the children and grandchildren who resulted. Granted, I may be projecting here a bit, but I think it's our first intimation that Inglor has any feelings like this about his own birth.

Picking up this story again after a long absence. I *think* Chapter 26 was where I left off - at least, I didn't recognize #27 when I started to read it just now. Reading #26, I enjoyed the introduction of Ecthelion all over again. He's a courteous fellow, but at the same time direct, and I appreciate that just as Haleth does.
...read through Chapter 27 now, and I *did* read this before, although I evidently did not review it at the time. But I remember the carefully placed gem stones and "those who care for the gems." Wow. I can easily understand how this place would drive Haleth crazy. It would probably do the same to me.

wheeeeeeeeeeee! New chapter! Yay :) now where is that dratted elf!? :o so Elrond will teach her to think like an elf? Good, then there is some hope ;) and maybe she will understand Inglor one day...provided she finds him... regarding what happens, this should feel frustrating but i find it an awesome read *is puzzled but happy* i can't say how glad i am that you're still writing on this story
