Okay, I saw your pm, and finally got the time to write up a reply, but now I see that you've disabled replies again, presumably by accident when uploading that adorable pic of Furrball to your profile. :) Submitting a review like this is the only way I can talk to you at the moment, so I'll ask again to please enable pms so that I can send you my message. I got it all saved, and it contains a lot of things I wanted to say to you (All positive, I assure you, heh). All that's required is for you to let me respond and I'll send it as soon as you do. :)

Well this was...interesting, for lack of a better word. You've essentially stripped away Furrball's sympathetic characteristics and made him into a "I don't need anyone"-type of street urchin, a departure from the usual fanfic portrayal of him that stays true to his "woobie" depiction on the show. The fact that he's alone and homeless because he chooses to be gives this story a rather bleak feel to it, right to the end. That Furrball isn't bothered by not having a much of a life or a future makes for a depressing story, but depressing in a good way, if there is such a thing. What this fic really left me with was a feeling of wanting more; all Furrball did was learn about his past from his father and Margaret; perhaps I was expecting more character development from him. That he still remains the nihilistic loner he was throughout the story makes me feel a bit empty inside. I've always liked Furrball and I have mixed feelings about how you've depicted him.

This fic did leave me with a few questions though. "Abeogi?" Exactly what is the meaning of the title? Another thing, Furrball not being friends with Calamity just for the sake of being "mutual loners" and denying having a thing with Fifi and ignoring her attention in class? Do I detect some not-so-subtle nose-thumbing at Boondock-Jake's "Speak Out" fic? Those elements were instantly recognizable to someone who's read the story. And most of all, what's the deal with Chapter 3? It would seem at first like it's a flashback about Furrball parents, but we find out later that's not the case. Was that a dream of Furrball's, since he went to sleep in Ch. 2 and woke up in Ch. 4? Is there something I'm missing here? What's the significance of those events?

In any case, this story is very well-written, and it's sad that it gets no reviews and is ignored among the other, less-unique fics in this section (though being in the M-rated category may have something to do with that as well). You're a really great author and I hope this isn't the only story you'll do.
