Definitely love how you went a new route than the other stories. I always thought that they got married at the end of the movie too (even though she never shows up in the third... I just conveniently ignored that part). I find it interesting how no one else has reviewed this story. Seems that it's not the most popular pairing in the world, but I love it. If you write more, you'll have at least one reader. :) Look forward to seeing an update.
