Heartbreaking. Excellent. I love the portrayal of emotions from the cool prince.

A quiet, delicate story, packed with intense emotions conveyed by no more than a subtle gesture here and a small detail there. A superb example of good story-telling. I love it.

This has the protential to become a fantastic story. It can stand alone but I would recommend continuing it. Wonderful writing. It had just enough detail to keep me interested in the end, perfect timing with everything, and I think you did a wonderful job as giving us a taste of a younger Ozai and Ursa. Great job!

Wonderful! Perfectly in character (because people like Ozai tend to be shy and reclusive in their youth)and i loved that neither Ozai or Ursa said anything, it made the instant emotional connection seem stronger.

Because it was awesome ;) I went back and read it a second time and picked up on lots of delicious little details. One, Ozai and his mother reminded me of Zuko and Ursa,

I'd never really thought about Ozai's relationship with his mother before. Secondly, in Ozai's rage Ursa held him back and calmed him down, it's a wonderful link to the series, when you think about what happens when Ursa isn't there to rein him in.

In short, everything was IC, it flowed nicely and was incredibly well thought out, all of which equals EPIC WIN for you :D

Meep...(This is me being speechless)

Absolutely beautiful! You have woven a wonderful tale that I am definitely favorite-ing! This makes me sympathize with Ozai, and...well... I love it. It is absolutely how I pictured him as a child, always being second best to his brother, locking his emotions up inside of him and having them all gush out at once in a heart-wrenching event. :) And adding Ursa to it was wonderful as well. The fact that she was able to calm him is perfect... ah poo, I'm rambling again. Anyways, I hope you decide to write at least one more story about these two... please. For me? Haha

I loved this story. I really did. The style was refreshing, and your characterization of Ozai was new and different. This is my favorite line:

"He was not a good conversationalist, but Wai-Lin enjoyed watching him interact with the world. He always appeared to be foreign to everything."

I can see Ozai being quiet, shy, and aloof. It makes a lot of sense. Great job :)
