You keep Sam perfectly in character while still allowing her to explore these new feelings. Some stories can't get that right, but YOU my friend, just did. Kudos! I almost want to be mad at Freddie in this, for making her go through so much, and it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on the situation as well *cough cough* *hint hint*

aww, this made my poor heart hurt! you characterized Sam perfectly! every word was totally believable. it's so easy to tell that she really wants to take a chance and finally admit what she's feeling, but instead, saying that she hates Freddie is safe and familiar, and it's the only thing she can really do to protect herself.
that may/may not have made any sense, but I hope it does.
ANYWAY. excellent job! this was lovely. :)
