An honest and sincere offering. You, in the guise of Mal's mother, portray a description of free will and its consequences well. I've always felt that Firefly didn't need any space aliens as badguys because humanity in itself creates plenty of badguys who cause plenty of trouble and distruction. I like your stories because they are clear and concise but convey important things about life. Remember my two junior high kids that got their first go round with Firefly this summer? I really do want to print this one, as well as Belief, out and give them to them to read. I like how adult Mal still doesn't have a clear sollution to his conundrum, it is aquestion/concept that we have to keep wrestling with and working on. This was an emotional story for me. Thank you for writing it and sharing it with us.
