for Whence we Came

You're not the only who's being lazy. I've should have read and reviewed this chapter weeks ago...actually according to the dates, it's months ago now. Crud.

Anyway, story's still progressing nicely, and am enjoying it still. Don't really have anything else to say other than my traditional statement of "awaiting for more." :)

Heya, Patchy! It's been some time, hasn't it? Don't worry about Preadtor drones. You might want to look out for an AC-130, though. According to our GPS, we just crossed the border. Don't know what happened to the anti-air, and quite frankly it doesn't matter.

Hm... Jeremiah is more than he seems, isn't he, Patchy? And now I'm getting the feeling Thoran's going to kick the bucket, and that's not fun. And so William's set becomes complete. Helm, mail, sword and dagger, and last but not least the overcoat. Thin, lightweight, but strong. Is it also warm in winter as well as cool in summer? OD is weird like that, so why not this stuff?

And here we see quarterstaff training. Ah, the fine art of beating the Hell out of one another with sticks. Something I spent years mastering. So many welts... It's a good time though. Sort of like paintball. Hurts like Hell, leaves massive welts/bruises, might remove an eye if you don't have a mask, and we keep doing it anyway because it's fun and we're idiots.

Astrid, marry me. She's a good shot, she's smart and sarcastic, and now she's a ninja. *man-swoon*

Oh, and, by the way, the DoF characters are here with me again. Samuel wants to know what happens next even more than I do, if that's possible. And Joseph has quit smoking, thankfully. I imagine he'll start again once he goes back. Extra stress is never good for a recovering addict. Pangil has almost eaten us out of house and home, too. I'm considering getting some MREs- even he can't eat more than three packages in a day. It's my record, and therefore his as well. Of course, the problem would be getting them from Lt. Clare. He's very protective of his MREs...

Update soon!

Hey Patches! What's up? Heh, sorry I couldn't do this sooner. My phone got confiscated back at Greenwood, and I had a shit-ton of TCB to catch up on, and a couple of other fics, and a PM or two. Then my phone malfunctioned and blah blah blah. On the upside, I passed my lvl2 in musical theory/playing and had a helluva six weeks. Seems like you had a time too. Hard to believe we only have 12 days now, huh? It's 0100hrs over here, excuse me if I say anything stupid.

It's been good seeing you again. Rather touching, what was said about that young marten. I quite agree. Give each individual a chance instead of judging books by their covers, huh? That's what I've always loved about the Abbeybeasts. Most are usually willing to overlook your species as long as you can prove you're not a complete dickwad.

So, will DoF be updated soon? I've been itching to see how that one ends...

Also, I recommend looking up "The Crimson Badger" by Highwing. You'd like it. Make sure to start out with "The Warlord" then read the books in order. Then, move on to "The Shrew War," which is the sequel. There's another... Eighteen books or so to come, making a total of four novels I believe. Plus umpteen sidestories and the origin story for his author surrogate, plus other things he'll add in the future, we hope.

Update soon!

Well, I guess I'm late to the party here, as I was with DOF, but I'm heartened to see the quality remains undiminished. This story's kept me thoroughly engrossed so far; my only complaint is that the plot seems to be progressing a bit fast. Not to say that you should step back and spend ten chapters developing backstory (goodness knows I don't want to read a bunch of Wikipedia articles on the characters), but you might want to back off a bit from the "arrgh, let's dash off into the mountains, mateys," approach and throw in some diverging plotlines. Just a suggestion.

In other news, that pine marten's got to be significant to the story in some way if he's willing to tag along through freezing and dangerous mountains just because some beasts in shining armor showed up at his doorstep. There's got to be something more there...

Either that or you're just looking for someone to kill off later. But you don't strike me like that cruel type. Yet. BWAHAHAHAHA!

Ahem. Anyways, looking forward to the next update. In the meantime, don't eat earwax, avoid roasted cabbage, and look on the bright side of life!

Yay! Redwall! :D

Now I'm curious what the story is behind the pine marten...

Awaiting for more. :)

I fail at long reviews, so yeah... Great chappie patchyman! X3

*would glomp you, but values his life far too much for that*

Good t' see you, wot! You have my sympathies for the Writer's Block- 'tis a terrible affliction.

I actually screamed at William when he asked 'bout the bally formalities. Of course it's necessary! Y'just don't put on a uniform and not know how t' conduct y'self in the thing! They taught me who to salute, who to call sir/m'am, and how t' jus' gen'rally behave, you gotta learn too ol' pal!

I wanted to slap Astrid upside the head for the vermin remark. She may be a female, but she could take it. Some of Pangil's best friends will be vermin in the (probably rather distant) future, after the Suefic when I release a more serious one which will actually share a timeline with the suefic and come after it.

Loved the chapter. The pine marten interests me. What's his story? And I share Astrid's apprehension at surrendering the weapons. I use to sleep with a knife under my pillow before mom decided to search my room and found it. A friend of mine sleeps with a pillow under his knife, for god's sake!

Also, my reviews in the next six weeks will sound different, as they'll be coming from a public bathroom in Greenwood, where the two hours a day I'm allowed to use this phone aren't enough so I have to sneak. Got picked up for a six week band course and leave Saturday at 0800 my time.

On top of that, I'm finally even with my fursona. That is, I've been promoted, though I may have told you this already. I'm not sure.

Update soon, ol' chap!

Nice chappie. Astrid is one strange character, I'm surprised she can show emotion. Update soon!

"Added bonus."

My favorite line this whole chapter.

Ahem. Well, first off, best of luck with the eye surgery. That's gonna be expensive, or the chainsaw bayonet is a good idea. Oh, and how do you feel about Shiloh occasionally slipping into Finnish? I find that students who've been through French Immersion occasionally slip into French, so why the Hell not?

On to the story! Glad to see an update, ol' chap! Now I need... Lessee... Yeah, like three other people to make my day. Hahahaha, I love how Jonas just let William figure it out. It's the sort of thing I would do. It's so much easier to learn through experience. Books can only take you so far, and this is true in every single field of everything. My Sergeant didn't learn to snap a sentry's neck by reading about it, did he? Oh, that reminds me, I've been promoted to Sgt! *does a happy dance, finally even with the fursona*. And I didn't learn how to yell from any damn book. I learned by doing.

Again, my best wishes in regards to the eye surgery. And remember; whatever you may dream under the anesthetic (if there is any; I'm unfamiliar with surgery period, as I've never had a serious enough injury), may be used in your writing if you can remember it. My dreams have given me plot bunnies before.

I'm too lazy to log in, and too lazy to think of stuffs to praise you about so yeah... Great chappie! XD update soon pl0x?
5/18/2011 c6 Sgt. Sporky
Well hello there! This adds a whole new dimension to Astrid. Not Jonas so much, as I suspected he was a knight right from the moment he asked where William got the sword. The fox was... Most interesting. A scimitar, huh? Never been my favorite weapon. Very heavy, no good at stabbing. Great for slashing though. But heavy as anything. I've always preferred a hand-and-a-half sword, a saber, or a katana. Well, update soon!

Herazka? The name actually sounds familiar to me as well. I imagine they are who the Verkora have been following all this time? Ah, suspense and mystery. Mine two favorite story elements. And I might not get it posted for a long time. As you know, I've borrowed from Killy and I want to make sure she's written right.

Another awesomely badass fic by patchyman! Lol...

This is turning out to be quite the story. I've been reading dof since chappie 1, but have only reviewed 2 times, something which I am extremely ashamed of. I admit, I took an oath to review any fic that I enjoyed, as I love getting reviews myself. Patchy, I promise after I read chappie 13 that I just got an email just as I finished writing the last sentence, I will review every chappe of dof to make up for it :).

Patchyman- +1 follower! :D

Hmm, this story just gets more and more interesting the further it goes... :)
4/22/2011 c4 8Sgt. Sporky
Looks like William has a new friend. How will he react to Astrid though? Just how were the knights of Verkora (apparently) annihilated? So many questions!

As to DoF: Listen. The characters are living in /my/ house while you study for AP. Pangil has tried to knife me on three different occasions and almost shot the neighbor's dog, and has damn near eaten us out of house and home. Sgt Becker has punched me in the face a dozen times. Samuel has /actually/ managed to clean his rifle to the point that he's seriously worn out the firing mechanism. Joseph has gotten into my weed /and/ my stepdad's smokes. And Karim has been sniping people, cars and anything else that passes by using my uncle's paintball gun. And when he's not doing that he's robbing a nearby convenience store with his pistol.

You owe me for this. Big time, buddy.

I don't know about you, but I basically fall asleep and read books straight through every class and wind up passing exams with 70-90 marks, and tests with 80-100. My mind is a sponge like Sammy's!

Well, update soon! And may the odds be /ever/ in your favor.
