I have just read this entire story through in one setting and wanted to compliment you on how well-done it is! I really like your original setting and the timeless quality of it. It is lovely to find great fanfic writing written in a recognizably adult voice. I can't wait to read the rest!

*No, but being shy is highly correlated with being introverted. Social anxiety is one of the traits that will make you score high on an introversion score, though it is quite possible to be introverted without being shy (other traits are: needing to spend time alone; being more likely to introspect before taking major decision than talk to people about it; being socially submissive and low social agreeableness (basically not being very good with or not liking people)
Darcy's behavior fits well with someone who is introverted and shy but socially dominant. He does not like speaking to strangers, does not know what to say to them, but is quite comfortable with expressing his opinions to them. Once he gets to know people, he opens up.
Psych rambling aside, I am really enjoying this story. (I do get carried away: sorry)

Oh my gah, what a selfish bitch she is! Any chance she had of Darcy liking her (which of course we know was zero) was just torn up, burned, crapped on and thrown out the window. I want Charles to rail at her but, really, nothing he says is going to sink in.

Poor Elizabeth - I really hope she doesn't lose her memory. The debate about whether Darcy is shy is always a fun one. I tend to agree with you, but I don't mind fics where it's portrayed as shyness - basically I love Darcy (almost) any way I can get him.
And kudos to Bingley for being astute enough to read Lizzy and for organizing the rescue.

A BIG thank you to your beta for suggesting this chapter to be from Caroline's POV - and a bigger one to you for doing such a great job of it! :D You've shown all the inane vanity of her character - and seeing Darcy's concern for Elizabeth through her eyes (though *she* was oblivious to it!) was truly heart-warming. :) The words of the doctor - "as you had trouble remembering new information just now" - seem to bring out a whole new list of possibilities for future twists! ;)
