I just love this piece. I was gutted when I played DA2 and saw what they did with Anders. It was so out of character for him to bind himself like that, and it really felt likes cop out. I could see Anders going down the hardcore revolutionary rout, but not like that...
I adored his character in awakenings, he was pretty much the one shining light in the expansion. You captured him beautifully here :) I was a little teary by the end of the story!

this is a great one-shot. I also miss the old Anders and this story showed a bit of him. Oh but the whole thing is so sad in the end. I really enjoyed reading this, thanks for sharing it.

Ok so I lurked this story, remembered it, and didn't even realize YOU wrote it. *Hangs head in shame*

I really loved this story because I was so sick and tired of reading stories where Hawke was simply madly in love with Anders, the mad man. The first time i played, I romanced Anders, and did i think he was going to blow up the Chantry? NO. My eyes stared at the screen with my mouth open, as the next thought ran through my mind, Oh god, my hawke helped him do this!
So, can i understand some stories even many out there like that? Yes? But nearly all? ggrrr. Hawke didn't become champion because she was a dummy.
I loved that your Hawke was a)smart enough to see Anders for more of who he was. b) smart enough to know it wasn't enough for her, that she couldn't have Anders 1/4 of the time.
I think you really channeled DAA anders very well. All in all, this piece was wholy satisfying and leaving me proud of your Hawke to know her limitations as well as his. (if I read another waify Hake who cries non-stop, mourning situations that can't be- I'll vomit) Sure, I don't want a Mary Sue, but some fics I feel is that all Hawke ever does? Sometimes love just can't be, and the parties do themselves well walking away.
It shows not just the maturity of your hawke and that you desired your audience to pick that up, but the author's maturity. Bravo! *clapping hands*

Huhuhu, I fell in love with Anders in Awakening. His sense of humor, wit and love for cats just makes him so adorable. DA2 Anders is still kind of adorable but more manly, but I don't know. This makes me miss the old Anders even more. Goddammit Justice.
