This whole story... I just... I can't function! Too many emotions fighting for my attention! Anders' betrayal, Fenris' reaction to being trapped and watching Cullen woo his Hawke, Merrill's sacrifice... I told you I would need those tissues, now hand them over! I'm so glad that this had a happy ending, at least when you take the circumstances they were thrown into under consideration. I'm telling myself that Hawke, Fenris, Varric, Merrill and company all had a big reunion picnic in that meadow, followed by drinks at the Fade's version of the Hanged Man. It just feels like the kind of afterlife Hawke would have wanted. :')

Wow... that is all I can actually, heartbreaking but so beautiful...
The betrayal of Anders shocked me, but Fenris not killing him because he was completely gone already... the best punishment.
And then Merrill giving her life for Hawke to have one final night with Fenris, even though he always treated with such disdain and Hawke taken her own so she could be with her eternal love forever.
I hope you keep writing many stories, your writing style is so moving, it brings tears to your eyes.

Normally I don't write reviews, but this little fic seemed to have elicited such a strong emotional response from me.
This was written beautifully, the bitterness and cruelty that is a part of the ecstasy and joy of true love was portrayed elegantly. As it says in this very story, "..the elegant brutality of it."
I personally found my heart twisting at Fenris's devotion to Hawke, even if he was tethered. Then to see Merril's own devotion to her friend, to give her life to see the two of them have one more moment together.
Hawke and Fenris's reunion in the end, in the afterlife, Elysium it reminded me of, was enough to put me over the edge. And I wept.
At any rate, perhaps it is still the lingering emotions in me, and this review is rather... angsty itself, but the story touched a soft spot in me. And I simply wished to express my appreciation of you taking the time to write it.

Wow... I read the first one and honestly wasn't expecting a happy(?) ending... This kept up the fluid writing style and ended with an entirely different...I can't explain it well, but the best word would be color. Amazing!

I just read through your trilogy and I am awed. The first was beautiful, the second broke my heart, and this completely ruined me.
You did an amazing job with these. The pain that Hawke and Fenris felt was so real to me. It was like an emotional rollercoaster when Fenris entered Cullen's body, only to find out the cost.
I loved it!

I must say I don't agree with the suicidal part either (as another reader mentioned) and was very sad about Merril. I also pictured the dire situation for poor Cullen when he woke up, having two corpses to answer for, besides the sadness of losing the woman he cared for, and the period of blakness he wouldn't remember (and could even come to blame himself for it!)
And stupid Anders/Justice! The nerve of doing something like this! He should have suffered much more for it!
I even thought for a moment that Hawke would be pregnant this time and sort of have Fenris' baby - in a way her future husband Cullen could never suspect nor complain, lol
Despite all my objections to the plot (nevermind me), this is an amazing trilogy! And your talent as a writer seems to escalate from the first to the last! I especially love the way you put their feelings into words! Thanks for such amazing fanfics!
