for Cruel Intentions: Lacrimosa

5/12 c2 10Phenomenally Extraordinary
Okay, I loved this. I thought the last chapter was dark this one was pitch black (XD) really dark and deep. I love Diego's backstory that's a really nice touch. You can see how he was raised in his culture which is much tougher. Anyway, before I continue with the review can I say I laughed in the scene when Sid said," Diego let Manny tell his story instead." Then Manny whacked him with his trunk. That was just so funny! Anyway, I loved how you introduced Diego's Mom and when the characters interrupted the story I just found it perfect it felt real not just random interruptions:) I love the little action here though it was really sad that the cubs died... Anyway, love this and I'm going to continue reading!:D

Hey it's Phenom! Well obviously!XD I sort of got my schedule switched and I decided to still try to read your story:) Well, anyway of with the review. Ice Age as I mentioned before was part of my childhood. Seeing the tone of this story like you told me very serious tone and dark, I love it! I love the matureness. The dialogue is perfect very in character I love Manny's and Diego's bond it's very sweet and almost brotherly here. I love how the characters interact to one an another. Anyway, back to the detail the detail man it's so wonderful almost poetic. I love your ideas on Manny's and Diego's backstories even though Diego's was just beginning. Anyway, still with the way you described both you could see the differences of the intensity like Diego said. Also, the way you describe things is very beautiful. I can't wait to continue this story this is really good and this is only the beginning well for me. So as you may see of course I'm going to review each chapter!XD

Hi there :D

Okay. First of all. Oh. My. God. You are an amazing writer. Your writing style reminds me of the David Clement Davies, The amazing author that wrote one of my favorite books, "FireBringer". Usually, it is hard for me to read fan-fictions because the ones I usually find are horribly written, out of character, or it just does not interest me. Not here. I could not stop reading. I must admit, I was a little confused about the council of elders at the begining of the story, but when I started to read Manny's personal story, it cleared that right up for me. I could here all the characters in their voices which tells me you wrote this beautifully. I am amazed! I cannot wait to read chapter 2 tomorrow. You are definitely going to be one of the writers I turn to when I don't have any books to read. I can just whip out my phone and start reading from here if I am anywhere or traveling.

He's been chosen! XD

Wonderful chapter! I love your word choice, and your writing style as a whole.

Diego's fear to tell the story about his first hunting trip with Soto was very realistic and in-character. And the growing love that Brutus feels for Lucita can only mean trouble... It's sad that Diego will only realise that Soto is evil when they're fully grown and well till he meets Manny and Sid. Good thing they opened his eyes. Of course, he's still a naive cub in this story.

Glad to hear there might be more of Sid's story later, as interesting Manny and Diego's stories are, I'm also curious about his.

And for Manny, can't wait to get to part where he meets his first wife and here more about the baby he's lost.

Take care!

That was nice and long I liked it

["And because the next time we'll hear of Cortez and Soto again," Manny broke in, finishing his sentence, "It'll be my turn to take up the story."]

Well, I was right about the little attack that took place. Anyways, good job and I can't wait to read the next chapter. :)

I just love council scenes! I agree with Clovis, the avian messengers should be treated with respect and friendliness. Yay! Diego and Theodora are closer to becoming friends! I wonder what is to happen in the next chapter? Will Cprtez's revenge play out properly when the time comes? When will little cub Hudson appear again? What places will Theodora and Diego explore? Update soon!

Gah! Long chapter! Must...stay...awake...

Things are really starting to build up, and I'm on the edge of my seat wondering about this battle/disaster which will happen...

Hehehe, another late review!

I like where this is going. All those species of mammoths together is beyond my imagination. This is really fascinating and it sounds like he met his first wife already... Can't wait till he actually meets her.

Love how Cortez and Clovis met like Diego and Manny! XD Something tells me this isn't the end of this. I wonder why Brutus told him the mammoths killed the cubs, can it be he has something to do with their death? And poor little Diego is so dominated by Soto.

Anyway, happy to have read some more of this wonderful story! And oh my, Wednesday I'll see the new film! Yay! XD And the Olympics are coming closer as well... :)

Okay, so I read the next chapter (took me long enough; sorry 'bout that) and I have no idea if this was intentional or not, but I kept drawing parallels between Diego and Cortez and Simba and Mufasa. I couldn't help it; the conversation was eerily similar, and so were some of the actions [After a moment, he stopped short. His right paw had landed in one of the large pawprints Cortez had made.

Diego looked down at the pawprint. His own small paw was dwarfed by the sheer immensity of his father's.]

When I read that, I was instantly reminded of that one scene in the Lion King. A few other similar scenes made me think of the other animated movie as well, the Kings/Alphas of the Past thing.

Moving on, ["Name's Diego, friend," Diego said as gruffly as possible.] So cute! Does Diego aquaint himself with everyone this way? Perhaps when he met Manny in the first film, he was remembering his friendship with Hudson. (Who what I've read about so far, I like.) He greets both in the same way in their first meeting, and both end up being close friends.

["And I think you're just a… son of a **,"]["Congratulations… I believe that you are just…. Catty."] I laughed out loud. Their insults are not particularly heartfelt, but rather two kids feeling each other's defenses out. It was kind of cute.

["What's the story behind that constellation?" Diego whispered, his voice thick with awe.]

Can I say, "Awe," ? The story was sad. They were such good friends and their packs had pretty good relations with each other, but then Ramiro died and everything fell apart.

The story Samarkand told had Grecean origins, did it not? Achilles, Paris, Helen of Tor. Menelaus as her husband. Nice.

[warrior mammoth known as Achilles, who had returned into the fray at last to avenge his dear friend, the Columbian mammoth, Patroclus]

So is Patroclus just a dear friend or is he Achilles' cousin still?

["However, let it be known that any relationship between inter-species is condemned by both sides, and punishable by death. The affair of Paris and Helen doomed these 'lands to a war, which distracted their fathers from the matter at hand, killing them for breaking the laws of Brede."]

If Diego's lover was a mammoth, it stands to reason that this could be part of the reason they're not together anymore, eh? A simliar idea; perhaps they were found out and were punished, or they feared they'd be punished by death. Do the sabres know of this story as well?

[Their king was called Romulus] Is this idea perhaps borrowed from Romulus and Remus of Rome? (I think they were Roman . . . )

[changed to something resembling suspicion, "It has do with danger, doesn't it? Speaking of that, don't you know that just playing together has put us both in danger?"]

I'm starting to think that Hudson's the brains of this friendship :))

[These. Are. Mammoths.] Diego's excitement is palpable and contagious. It was funny reading that line in the context.

[Theodora. So that's her name. It's a pretty name. I like it.]

Uh oh. I sense trouble with a capital T. That's got to be Diego's girl that he loses, and because she's betrothed to Samarkand, I do NOT see this working out.

The story that the mammoths were telling and Diego and Hudson were listening in on was quite interesting. ;) I'm surprised that Cortez approved of Diego's friendship with Hudson. It would be even more surprising if Diego became friends with Theodora, I wonder how Cortez would react then. lol

Update sooon!

An AWESOME chapter overall! The wonderful surprise sweetness of Diego's father, his friendship with Hudson, even his forbidden romance with Theodora is hugely interesting! Can't wait for more, update soon! :D

Was that bit about wolves seeing the future a reference to 'The Sight'?

Speaking of which...

'Diego looked down at the pawprint. His own small paw was dwarfed by the sheer immensity of his father's.'

LION KING REF! That entire scene just made my day, especially this bit: "Look at the stars. Brede has installed the great alphas of the past up there for a specific purpose, to watch over us."

And...

"And a sabre alpha called Paris stole away the fair mammoth maiden Helen, causing the war to start since Helen was mated with a fine mammoth, Elder Menelaus."

This chapter's just full of references xD Although at one point you say 'Troy' instead of 'Tor'.

"Or one of the wolf packs – or your own pack – might be chewing on it." - So that's where Diego learnt that...

All in all, great chapter!

P.S. That's who Diego's interested in... ;)

Hey, so I'll try to summarize my notes from my reply.

I thought the chapter was great and I really liked some of the little details like Axel always calling Manny, "Mr. Manny," and some of Manny's interactions with the other mammoths -the shy female mammoth Manny seems so taken with, I suspect, will be his first mate. His friendships with both William and Samarkand are sweet and interesting respectfully.

Also, the mammoths seem to be very predjudiced against any other creautures, really. They hate sabers, use the birds like slaves, and treat the others if as they're insignificant or naive children.

Also, the mammoths' speech patterns remind me of "Thor" of The Avengers. (I couldn't help noticing/mentioning that - I've been to see the movie twice now, and sometimes it's just like they're {the mammoths and Thor} speaking Shakespearean.)

Can't wait to hear more about Diego's story!

[Girls have cooties. Why should I be interested in being introduced to any of them? Bleah!

Seeing Will send him a pointed glance, Manny knew he was beaten. It still surprised him how quickly William had taken to be friends with girls, after all, didn't he know that girl had cooties and that they were … dangerous creatures?]

LOL! That was absolutely priceless! Especially coming from Manny. I bet one of those other girls was Manny's first mate. I have Catherine in mind. When I came across Elisabeth, I was like,'Ooo! I think I found Ellie.'. Pretty crafty using Elisabeth. XD Update soon
