LOVE IT! I like how you've begun giving Sherlock more depth again. There was an odd detail though. Would Arabic really be unfamiliar to the two of them?

As a franglophile, I salute you. This was perfect.

", listening for the discord that signalled cases rather than the melodies that signalled life."

While I hate Charles-named-persons this was just enough that I didn't find myself preoccupied by the name.

It turned out beautifully. Hush now.

That was really cute. I loved the idea behind it, how it looks fondly at the past while affirming that he wouldn't change what he has now. Great job!

I enjoyed reading.

Beautifully done. I'm so glad it wasn't a dramatic meeting... if you can really call it a meeting. They just sort of acknowledged each others presense.

Besides I think ths story is more about Sherlock and John the Sherlock and Charles (so you sort of kept your promise). Their holiday would involve less tourist stuff and more back alleys, cafes and unusual art (no fakes though ;)). Although it did make me laugh, the idea that John's cheap tourist replica of the Eiffel Tower was worse than Sherlock's magnet. The man is rather biased in his own favour I think :). But I would love to have that type of holiday. Real France. Although I would like to go to the Lourve.

What a lovely story. Sherlock taking a real holiday from his work and relaxing in a different environment together with John who so deserves a break from their often frantic life.

I thought it brilliant that John was a wee bit afraid of having Sherlock act as tour guide but I’m delighted the way it turned out. You also pictured the French very favourably which gave me a rather sarcastic smile, but I’m glad they don’t treat John with his less than perfect French as nastily as they did me. :-)

Loved the ChocHobNob reference and was startled by the appearance of Charles, for some reason glad he didn’t approach them.

Very curious to hear (read) of their visit to Frontignan and Sherlock: Go easy on the magnets!

Only John would have to bribe his husband with chemistry equipment to get to go to Paris.

“Three days there, in which John had initially baulked at Sherlock showing him the Paris he knew, doubtless conjuring images of seedy back alleys, homeless people acting as informants, shadowy deals in dimly lit cellars, accompanied (possibly, just for ambiance, at least in Sherlock's fertile imagination) by a single mournful violin played by an unseen musician.”

Not sure I’ve fully expressed how MUCH I adore that entire paragraph. Like every word in it. I’m perfectly certain Sherlock could find the seedy underbelly of any place, but I like that to him Paris is sacred.

And I’ve said this to you before but I love the detail that Sherlock can speak French so well he COULD fool them into thinking he’s a Parisian but chooses to let them know he’s English so they’ll appreciate his talent (and also forgive John).

This is generally just such a beautiful idea. I mean, really lovely. And the appreciation of John from Charles (a man I get the impression is difficult to please) really makes me happy.

And I also like Sherlock appreciating John, as he bloody well should.

I wonder what changes Charles could see in Sherlock. Happiness, I expect.

(That's another one of your stories in my favourites. You do realise it'll be full of you soon.)

Yay. A little Charles goes a long way. Now onto the villa? ;-)

Aha, I'd been wondering whether you'd write a story about this type of thing, and as soon as I read the synopsis I knew you had :D I really love how you kept the 'reunion' (if you can call it that) simple and understated, and I like the idea that both of them have settled down and matured and become happy. Also the image of John and Sherlock strolling through Paris arm in arm made me smile :) All in all, lovely - really brought memories of being in Paris back to me!

I love how you keep writing Sherlock's love for souvenir fridge magnet's in as a running joke through your stories. =] Another great John/Sherlock fic, and interesting to see them out of the country altogether (and bless John and his poor grasp of French, I can sympathise with him)

Beautiful – in depiction and sentiment!

Very nice.

Very nicely done! I love how you took the idea of "Echoes" but made it your own. I also like how Sherlock and Charles acknowledged one another but there was no conversation. A time past. Thanks again!
