Thank you for this. Never have I been so moved. The way in which you tempered such raw emotions into such a beautiful work... words cannot describe what you have done... I read this work in pieces as it was first published but this final combination creates a storm of emotions that would bring even the strongest person to their knees.

This was beautiful and heart wrenching. You are a very talented writer, even if I'm feeling some regret.

You have such an amazing talent. I have read these before as individual works. Today I returned to read them in their entirety. I can not return to this tale again, I think. It has been almost two years since my Fenris left and it still hurts too much. I do thank you for this cleansing because I think I needed to cry.

I love this whole work, but the last bit of this fic confuses me. Has he already died and she sees his figure? If so then why does she backtrack to when he was dying instead of dead? It's a bit confusing, yeah.

In the words of Fenris "why are you telling me this!"
Gah! I can't believe that made me cry. I am no sissy but that was just well done.

I was in hysterics half way through this chapter.
The pain he must feel watching her with Cullen.
Anders- selfish to the very last second.
Hawke's behavior very normal and typical for people in mourning, who have lost loves.
The fact that when Fenris finally does see Anders, he gives him mercy. That is a very un-Fenris like trait, but I believe it is Hawke and her love who brings that out in him. Very Beautiful to see the changes in a person because of love.
Merill realizing she is there gave me a glimmer of hope that she could bring him back, only to have it destroyed when she tells him she can help him move on.
Then i started balling again when i realized he only will move on so that Hawke is no longer in pain.
To hear him finally tell her he loves her...the words you used...oh God. (here I go again).
It took me a second to realize, Merill was confessing love for Hawke. interesting...
Then she finds the only end that she can accept...
I'm sure you got absolute shit for this ending from people, but I honestly can not seeing it ending any other way. I do not see Hawke being strong enough to going back to life without him after having him that one last time.
I have just officially used up an entire box of tissues on this ficlet. Evil woman

I can barely type through the tears.
Coming home after the last battle to rip each other's clothes off.
How when she thought of Isabela or Anders, Fenris just knew...
How you still are able to pull of Fenris's irreverence is amazing in a piece so tragic:
"I...have found a woman. An elf."
"Congratulations."
But of course, I started balling when he came back telling her he couldn't do it.
And when Varric died and Fenris grabbed for her taking comfort in their lovemaking, the kind of solace only intimacy and lovers can give each other, I teared again.
But right after that, when Hawke realizes Fenris is beginning to lose it...Oh God...There are no words for how I cried.
In my story, Hawke married a templar, and is a widow by the time she meets fenris. When I was thinking about the prequel, when Hawke and her husband discussed the fact what the lyrium would do to him eventually. She told him when the time came, they would deal with it. This is just what I pictured her going through- the helplessness of knowing her husband was going to eventually be lost to her, eventually not even knowing her name (i see the old age affects of lyrium akin to alzheimers).
But the ending...I'm at a loss for words.

Alright here I go again. Although, well written it astonishes me just how easily you can go from writing rip your heart out devastatingly sad work to have me in stitches laughing work. There are a handful of writers in the world that I have read who can do such extremes. In my opinon, you are one of them.
In this particular piece these lines will haunt me for days(in a good way):
She says nothing when he shows up again the following evening, a question in his eyes. She simply leads him upstairs, climbing behind him onto the bed to start the gentle tracing again. After a while she turns him onto his back, his eyes closed and moves her fingers over the marks on his chest, the scars on his arms, and later he leaves less abruptly and this time with a nod of thanks.
He visits her most nights over the coming weeks and she has noticed things appearing on her writing table when she comes down in the morning. A bottle of wine, scented armour oil and once a delicate woven gold bracelet which looks of elven origin.
In just a handful of sentences, you have progressed a relationship and shown the level of respect and admiration between the two not only existing, but increasing exponentionally. In my opinon, admiration is the first step to falling in love.
Anders bothering him, beautiful hints of jealouy.
How Fenris traces her back to comfort her, I was near tears.

And now to the last. Although a few people didn't like the ending I feel I have closure on the story now. Hell, I don't feel any better but this chapter was touching, surprising and uplifting all at the same time.
One of the finest angstfics I've ever read and I thank you from the bottom of my crushed and bleeding heart for it.
Now I have to re-read it and then go and lie down for a bit.

This chapter, after the happy of the first is utterly utterly heartbreaking. I started crying like an infant halfway through and by the end I was hicupping hysterically. Again so beautiful but so devastating.
The last line finished me off completely and I had to go away and come back again. If I ever run into you I may hit you. Then hug you.

I've just read all the parts of this story and am sitting at my computer with my mouth hanging open and tears streaming down my face. I'm going to have to review all the chapters because this fic is such a roller coaster of emotion.
This part was high romance, beautifully and evocatively written. I even welled up a bit in the middle. Lovely character sketches and achingly tender. I loved this chapter.
