What was that saying about self fulfilling prophesies?

I like the way that you intermixed Amon's feelings for his mother and Robin in such a way that it is sometimes a bit confusing as to whom he is talking about. I really like the last couple of sentences where he directly compares his mother to Robin. It tells us everything we need to know about what is going on quite succinctly.
