It is true about Neanderthals. In fact the only real difference between them and us (other than they were physically strong, had on average larger brains and were designed for colder climates) is that Homo sapians traded over large distances, between tribes. While Neanderthals stuck to their family groupings and tribes. In the end we survived and they died out was because we had greater use of our communication skills.
If the Neanderthals taught us anything it is that the biggest and strongest isn't always best. Talking is better than using your fist to solve your problems.

This just felt so sad. I know the piece is about how much Jayne loves what and who she is and all of her. But the fact that 'she is more weapon than girl' and that Simon knows this is so unbelievably sad that I actually got the goosebumps I get when I watch people talk about their missing children with tears in their eyes or people with terminal cancer...it hurts and makes my skin cold.
