Cute story, it highlights the honor and privelidge of being the notably older sibling, something which I stress to my oldest nephew, he's nine and the three young ones are two and under, so he has a special role in helping raise them. I want him to be a good big brother, not like his father, who is my woefully inadequate older brother. I want him to be what I didn't have growing up so the littler ones will be proud and greatful to have had him as their brother. I love thunder storms too. The bit at the end was good, about Reagan having that realization that her children don't need her, really never had and its no one's fault but her own.

Your writing about Simon and River and Mal et al is some of my favorite writing to read around here, you always write such lovely stories and its an honor to be able to read them. The first chapter was adorable, with a hesitant and not too sure about this little Simon. I like how you took moments referenced from the show about their early years, the spelling etc. In chapter 4 where River is 14 I think its over ambitious to call her a woman, but that's just my opinion and doesn't really affect the story. I'm glad Simon has rescued River and that they live in a safe kind community environment where people look out for each other. I'm glad she trusts him to help her feel better and trusts the rest of the crew too.

This is so shiny! I love their sibling relationship:D Simon is such a good brother!(: and River is awesome!((:
"I'd have to be crazy to miss this"
^^^that line stings, because I really think all siblings say that when they're younger, and regret it when they grow up and miss their childhood innocence! Great job on all the emotions in this fic! You got all the characters down to a "T"! Hope you continue!
