Yes, that was an odd add on.
Why would they need to bother getting water from earth? There are at least two ice moons in our solar system.
On a different level, why would aliens eat and or drink anything on our planet? Do they not have to worry about some odd/deadly reaction?

Also, as 'advanced' as these people are, wouldn't they have known that the planet had life long before getting near it?

So far i like the story, i like first contact scenario's and love mass effect. I just feel like you're creating unnecessary drama. with the limiting and all that, it just feels artificial.

ah... I've been blowing through the chapters waiting for well... anything of interest to happen and nothing has. I'm calling it quits on this story. Too much emo bullshit.

That investigation by Armali did come from out of the blue. Good job!
This chapter was interesting, and for the most part, intelligible, and smoothly flowing. The exception was the discussion between Adastra and Seliha. The transition from talking about Seliha's lack of emotion to what skills she had was abrupt, and seemed to come out of nowhere.
Seliha's answer to Adastra was even worse, as it was unclear just what she was implying. After rereading that section several times its become clear to me that there is context to the question that the reader is not privy to. Adastra seems to be asking Seliha about her skill-set in a particular field (The nature of which the reader is not privy to).
I would greatly appreciate it if this could be clarified (even if only through a PM to me).

Is it just me, or are the Citadel races predominantly small-minded, petty barbarians?
I mean, seriously, think about how many racists/technophobes/general purpose insensitive pricks you encouter in the games. And according to cannon its mostly legal, if not officially sanctioned.

If an alien ship did crash on Earth, there is no way it could do so undetected, even with the solar flare, Military satellites and military grade radar would detect them...the systems are hardened. Realistically, the military would be on their way to set up a perimeter.
Its interesting, but I can see this going like a cartoon. Aliens crash land, kid harbours them, in this case an adult, hiding them from the government.
