The obvious slight one-sided love story for the two is so sad at times. I've only ever watched the anime in English so I don't know if the Japanese version put more emphasis on the two. But the implied affection they have for each other made me sad throughout the entire series. For some its painfully obvious Mugen has a thing for Fuu, he wouldn't have stuck with her otherwise (totally disregarding the promise, I know he has some honor but I don't think he would have stuck around had he not wanted to kill Jin) nor would he have always been the one to save her (take the episode when he returned to the brothel to save her, he was well on his way but he stopped and returned for her, even if none but he knows he did). And then when Jin first "left" Mugen was obviously hurt that she cared so much, when they split up again and she hinted at firing him and pointed at Jin as a better guard, when they were at the river and she confided in Jin and Mugen just watched in silence, etc, etc. I think his past "love" Koza's betrayal and such also help with making his affection for Fuu even worse for him when he's disregarded.
Well, my review has gotten pretty lengthy and hasn't critiqued at all. So, back to the main point of this review:
This was very well done. The fact that I share some sentiment with your interpretation may have made me a little biased. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that you managed to capture Mugen's...essence? I don't know if that's a fitting word but I believe this is an amazing glimpse at his thoughts about Fuu and anger/jealousy at always being "second best" in her eyes. So, bravo! A wonderful fiction.

Aw, I remember this scene. Poor Fuu, I felt like the girl needed a good hug after she was missing Jin so much. This was a nice interpretation of Mugen's thoughts about the whole incident, I think he does care in his iwn awkward and griff way. Nice job on this oneshot, it's really good! CB

Loved it. Anything mugen x fuu I love, but this was really really good because you put your own spin on the scenes and still managed to keep them in character

This was EXACTLY what I imagined when I saw this scene like the third time I watched the series.
YESYESYES! There is ALWAYS so much undertone to all three of the characters (mostly Mugen, I think)but you interpreted it EXACTLY how I did. You are awesome. Thank you for this.
My fave was when he said, "When has he ever fought for you?" perfect!
And how he imagines he wuold have thrown a fit if she had asked him to leave but in reality would have most likely pretended to be glad to be rid of her.
I could go on. All of it was perfect.

This is amazing! It was short but the perfect amount of shortness to make one understand how Mugen feels.Just like the anime, short but enough yo make u cry TT_TT I noticed that scene and im thoroughly convinced that Fuu did pick Mugen to go with her because her heart would have been much more hurt than Jin leaving. Mugen did seem kinda upset in the anime when Fuu began to cry too. Those two episodes with Sara are one of my best references to people who deny Fuugen/ Mufuu. Good job again, and MuFuu/Fuugen all the way!
