You do angst so very well. It's remarkable (and sad) how secretive both men are even while being the best of friends, so when Wolfwood finally dies before he can open up, it's just heart-breaking. The last line, about how resigned Wolfwood is to his inevitable "goodbye" to Vash, also really got me.
(Heh, three months later I'm trying to fulfill my New Year's resolution to catch up on reviewing stories I've read... so sorry about the lack of reviewing!)

Angst, indeed, my friend. But well-written angst! That might be the saddest part about Vash and Wolfwood's relationship- they never really got to know each other, and then when they finally did, Wolfwood dies. I also like the idea of Vash knowing asking too much of Wolfwood would never work, because Wolfwood will just close himself down a little more. But in the end, that in itself was telling Vash everything he needed to know... sad.
"He had many secrets and issues of his own, so what was the point in throwing stones?" is a good line. As is, "But as long as this wasn't over, that would be all he'd every get, half-smiles and half-truths."
I'm not sure how I feel about Vash dropping the F-bomb, though. I'm sure he's said it before, but I can only imagine it happening extremely rarely (although being upset about Wolfwood's death could definitely qualify). It just seems too rough for a person as polite as Vash, you know?
Good job!
