This is really good. I like N'thal's character a lot. And Miralise, I can't wait to see her grow more into her own with his help. Nice touch with J'vrex using the Weyr's coffers to fund Belia's self-indulgence. I can't wait to see how they cope.

I find it a bit odd, that Miralise was chosen as Weyrwoman instead of the next senior in line, but like Starsinger said below, either way works. I really like how this starts - most fanfics lead up to the flight and then show the aftermath and usually the riders know each other and are attracted to each other. The way this starts, and the fact that Miralise and N'thal do not know each other is a really nice twist and I can't wait to see how this goes!

Oh, gosh, this is beautiful. I mean, it's well-written and formatted and just... wow, I could gush, but I'm not sure I have the proper words.
I love the premise of this story, and I think there are a lot of ways it could go, so I'm interested to see where you'll be taking it.
Also, the first reviewer said something about people might get on you for how you've decided Leadership? It was always my understanding that after the senior queen died, the current Weyrleader remained as such until the next queen rose and then the riders of that queen and whichever bronze flew her became Weyrleaders. So I think you're good.

You're likely to hear from some reviewers that the next most senior queen to rise will determine who will be the next weyrleader, but, the next queen to rise has also been the next Weyrwoman. Both are correct, so don't let anybody try to correct you on this. I could be wrong, just thought I'd get it said before somebody else did. This is good, solid premise, we have a good grounding for your characters, and look forward to learning more about them.
