I really like your story. It provides a really interesting view of the equilists belief system, though I do belive your equilista will end up far more reasonable the the canon ones.
I would like to seem some argument from the other side to maybe about bending being a natural trait and do the equilists plan on breaking the legs of gifted runners and acrobats or blind people with superior vision. Something along those lines.
I believe there argument is rather tied to the natural gifts of benders giving them an advantage; I don't think there is any systematic oppression by benders of non-benders(later episodes may prove otherwise)
