"Ah, Cass. And the worst thing, he couldn't really explain it all to the holy man - either sending him back to die or making him doubt his faith, or both."
I think, after reading it 5 times, I finally get it.
"It also meant that Cass was Hunting now. Sean became upset; she may have given him her word to stop killing 'bad and very people' but guys who would try assassinating Darius were worse."
But this one still actually confuses me just a little.
I enjoy breaks from reading stories that are straightforward. I like things that are a little obtuse and make me think very hard, and I think you did it well. Maybe just a tad too obtuse, but not undecipherable.
I certainly can't remember anything else in the archives that uses the angle you've come up with.
