Late

"James?" a scared, hollow voice drifted through the dark bedroom.

Her bed partner's sleep heavy lids creaked open "Yes, Lils?"

Straight to the point now, Lily, she thought to herself.

"I'm late." came the abrupt response.

If he hadn't been so Salazar damned tired he'd have laughed at his fiancée; Lily Evans was never late.

"Late? You? Never."

"No, really."

Perspiration rolled down the back of her neck.

"Late for what? It's two in the morning." groggily he turned to fall asleep once more.

"No, James. . .I mean. . .I'm really late"

Suddenly he was very much so awake.
