A.n. - this is a poem I wrote awhile ago and while not written with Firefly in mind I tend to think of it after watching the early episodes of River's recovery

Little one

In a world undone

Wanting to fly

but dying inside

You try

To spread your wings

Ready to attempt the unseen

And then

You fall

Casualty

Of a world in which

You can never be

Anything

More than what the world

Wishes you to be

You need to break free

Of this reality

Which threatens to consume
