Warning – talk of abuse and some cheesy slash towards the end

"Not a problem" Morgan said and headed to Garcia's office to let her know they were both ok.

A smile crossed over the agent's face as he watched the darker man walk to the tech's office he walked quickly to the bathroom, knowing he had to be quick

Reid jumped when the bathroom door opened and Agent Franks walked in a menacing smile on his face.

"What do you want" Reid asked nervously.

"Well I want you of course" Agent Franks said walking closer to Reid.

"No, get back" Reid said taking a defensive stance that Morgan had recently taught him. Agent Franks snorted a small laugh.

"The thought of you protecting yourself is just downright funny" the agent said continuing to approach Reid. Once he was directly in front of him Reid grabbed his shoulders and kneed him hard taking the man down. Reid took the moment of surprise to get out of the bathroom, his breath near panic he barreled into someone who actually managed to keep him upright.

"Dr. Reid, what the hell, are you ok" the voice said and Reid looked up horrified to see Strauss still holding his arm.

Agent Franks came out of the bathroom then panting and not seeing Strauss yelled at Reid who had actually jumped behind Strauss upon seeing the other agent

"Oh I'm going to ride you good for that boy" Franks said then paled upon finally seeing Strauss

"Agent Franks, I suggest you remove yourself from this building now" Strauss said grinning slightly as the man took off all but running.

Strauss then turned to Reid who had slumped to the floor.

"Dr. Reid, are you alright" Strauss asked crouching in front of the young man just as Morgan was returning.

"Ma'am what's going on" Morgan asked his voice shaking in anger.

"I'm not entirely sure but I believe another agent attempted to assault him, I fired the other agent on the spot and you can trust that I will press charges. Please take Dr. Reid home for the day, I'll explain things to agent Hotchner" Strauss said smirking at the astonishment on Morgan's face.

"I'm not a completely heartless bitch" she said and walked away. Morgan pulled Reid up gently and led him to the car. Reid didn't speak until they entered their house.

"Reid can you tell me what happened" Morgan asked and Reid nodded

"Agent Franks came into the bathroom, I asked him what he wanted, and he said me and came at me so I waited until he got close enough and I kneed him and ran then Strauss was there" Reid said in monotone

"I'm so proud of you, babe" Morgan said and with that Reid burst into tears. Morgan held him until he cried himself to sleep. Morgan sighed and carried him into their bedroom. They slept in the same room but had yet to do anything more than kiss. Morgan sighed and watched as Reid slept.

They had both been through hell, physically and mentally, the physical scars were almost completely gone making way for the true emotional scars to come out.

Two hours later Garcia called and said everyone was on the way over, they all knew what had happened via Strauss but not the whole story. Morgan told Garcia what Reid had said and she promised to relay it to the rest of the team so that he wouldn't have to talk about it again.

Six months later

Finally their therapist agreed to let them back into field work they also had began going to therapy together once their doctor knew they were a couple. The first few cases were rough and caused several flashbacks for each of them but they made it through. The rest of the team was finally able to give them hugs if they didn't sneak up on them. They both had quirks. Morgan couldn't handle people standing behind him for long periods of time. Reid didn't like to be touched unless he initiated it. The exceptions were Morgan and Garcia. He touched the others of the team often to let them know he cared but when others touched him first, he panicked slightly

"How's things going" Hotch asked after a particularly hard case.

"Well I'm not going to say that it was easy but we're ok. The doc is good, anytime a flashback hits we each have coping skills." Morgan said

"And we have the team; you guys are the only family I have, I'd be crazy without you all." Reid admitted. Hotch smiled a rare smile.

"Well I want you both to know, I'm incredibly proud of how hard you've been working to get through everything. Your stronger than most people around" Hotch said and both men smiled.

"Thanks" they both said

"Alright now both of you get out of here for the night" Hotch said and they left glad they had a weekend before returning.

Two weeks later Morgan came home from the grocery store to find a candlelit dinner waiting.

"Uh, Spencer what's going on" Morgan asked curiously. Reid smirked and sauntered up to him, smiling.

"Well, it's been exactly one year since we got together, so I made us dinner" Reid said and kissed Morgan gently. Morgan kissed back enthusiastically.

After they ate Morgan noticed Reid getting nervous.

"Are you ok, babe" Morgan asked

"Yeah, just, I don't want to push you if you're not ready." Reid said staring at the floor.

"Not ready for, oh, oh, Spencer look at me" Morgan said and waited until Reid's eyes were on his.

"I'm ready, if you are and only if we promise each other that we'll stop if we need to" Morgan said and Reid smiled

"I will I promise" he said

"I will too" Morgan agreed and followed the younger man into the bedroom.

They started slowly, asking each other repeatedly if the other were ok. They finally grew comfortable and moved almost as one.

Later they collapsed onto the bed both smiling.

"I love you Spencer" Morgan said wrapping his arms around the other man.

"I love you too, Derek" Reid said and cuddled into his chest.

While they still had issues and often flashbacks they knew in that moment that they would be more than just ok.
