Hi! Sorry for the wait, I had writers block. Sigh. I think I'm starting to get over it but you never know. Hope you like this chapter, it's mostly kind of a filler.
Disclaimer: I do not own Alex Rider
There was no resistance on Alex's part. He had no back-up plan because this was the back-up plan for the back-up plan and it wasn't worth all the lives of the people inside that van.
Alex was restrained with cuffs, had a blindfold put on him and then was knocked out with a sedative. The others-once they saw what was going on tried to make a break for it. Yassen had taken out his gun and started shooting to give time for the others who weren't that badly hurt or unconscious to get away.
It was useless. Yassen was tackled painfully by a huge guard as he tried to get a straight shot at Sergei, Wolf already defenseless, was being guarded by Snake; who made no moves to resist-as long as they allowed him to be in the same room with Wolf. Snake was worried the crash had given him more than a concussion and actually had brain damage.
Yassen probably wasn't better off with the stomach wound but…..Wolf was his team leader and top priority.
Fox looked like he had a large bump on the left side of his forehead and what looked like a piece of glass was embedded in his cheek. Alice…..Luscious….not right now, if Sergei had any morals at all he would let Snake take a look at all of them and not just thrown them in a cell to rot.
Snake watched as Alex was restrained and then fell to the ground, nobody had bothered to catch his limp body. Snake had a sudden flash of rage as he saw Sergei kick Alex. A guard then came over to pick Alex up but was stopped by Sergei; who picked Alex up himself and cast a glance towards the van as he gave some instructions to the man in the lab coat beside him.
Snake glared as some of the guards harshly dropped Wolf onto the gurney but did not resist when he was hand-cuffed. All the others were restrained the same way; no one was able to get away-where could they run to anyways?
Everybody was loaded up into the truck in pairs of two. As they were driven away-everybody had the same thought, now that Alex had given up-what was going to happen?
Alex for the next couple of days ceased to exist. Sergei continued to provoke Alex, upset that he had 'disobeyed' him.
Sergei had him washing floors, spending time with patients that were dying before his very eyes, beat him, tortured him and even made him spend time with Rai for an afternoon. But nothing caused a reaction which angered Sergei further and after another incident gave up on causing a reaction out of Alex.
The days went by, a week, two…. but Alex still acted like a body without a soul. Sergei kept the others paired up in separate rooms, not allowing anybody but the guards to give them food. They had all healed well, some of them had even tried to escape but were just beaten and locked in another room for days without food before being put back into their original room.
Yassen was restrained at all times in another room separated from all of them. When Alice got the courage to ask Sergei on one of his 'visits' what he was doing to his own brother, he had replied
"I just gave him the welcoming he deserves and we got to catch up on what we were both doing."
Alice feared that it meant that he had killed him after speaking to him or was keeping him down in the basement torturing him.
Alice and Jess both felt worse after a visit from Alex, who was the one who gave them their food that day.
Alice had seen Alex and was horrified by the empty look in his eyes. She had cried that night only comforted by Jess, who was reassuring her about their situation. It didn't work.
The others were not better off; Wolf was in a coma with Snake watching over him, Fox was roomed with Eagle-who had tried to make the situation better by setting the spotlight on himself, but stopped once he had seen Alex. Jake, Nick, and Luscious were put together in another room, they're spirits had left them too, although Luscious seemed not to give up; trying as many escape attempts as possible and getting caught every time.
He was punished but he still didn't stop, Sergei one time himself handed out the punishment but that didn't help either, although he wasn't able to move for a couple days to even try to escape.
As the weeks went by they gave up hope, MI6 hadn't found them, and it seemed nobody was looking for them.
Alex's empty eyes stared at the wall in front of him, ignoring Rai who was again running some tests on him.
Rei had found out that the only way to make Alex react was to touch him but Alex only flinched or shivered, but the acknowledgement that he knew that someone was there made Rei happy, and whenever Sergei touched Alex nothing but a twitch of an eye was rewarded.
A pager beeped and Rei sighed as he read the screen, and then rushed out of the room. Alex stayed and made no movement, this whole entire time everything felt like a dream. Maybe it was a way that his brain coped with the situation, afraid to let him feel because if he did then maybe he would just break.
His brain which still functioned, allowed him to jump down from the operating table and walk out of the room. He passed a room with its door open; taking a glance inside and then froze.
His brain was still trying to catch up to the image his eyes had just seen. Alex turned and then stumbled a little as he took another look inside the room. The wall was blown apart, the bed sheets stained with blood and debris littering the floor.
He made to turn around, forget that he had ever seen anything but a whimper made him stop.
Alex forced his body to turn back around, see what had made that sound even as his mind screamed to leave it be.
"Asha, Asha, Asha, Asha."
The cries came from the closet in the back of the room. He heard sobbing and slowly opened the closet door. A small figure huddled in the corner of the closet and as light flooded it when Alex opened the door all the way he could see it was a little boy, who looked no older that eight.
The little boy sat frozen as Alex stared, tears staining his cheeks and his brown hair all over the place.
Brown….hair….the face….who does that remind me of?
A conscious thought for once but his mind still was a little sluggish as it was pulled out of its hibernation.
Alex kneeled down, holding out his hand to the little boy and asked, "What's your name?"
The boy sniffed, not quite trusting yet to take his hand answered, "Victor."
Alex sighed as he realized that Victor wasn't going to take his hand, "I'm trying to help you, I won't hurt you."
Victor gave a suspicious look and asked, "What's your name?"
Alex ran a hand through his hair, "Alex."
At that Victor literally sprung himself into Alex's arms, his small arms holding on tightly to his neck.
"You must have seen her! Where is she? Is she here? I haven't seen her but she said she would be right back." The eight year old then slowed down his questions as a sob rocked through his body, "she promised!"
Alex held onto Victor, trying to think of who he was talking about but came up empty.
"Who are you talking about Victor?"
Victor snuggled into Alex's chest, a muffled reply coming out.
"What?"
Victor huffed into Alex's chest and loudly declared, "Jamie. Where is Jamie?"
Alex stopped functioning, how could he forget about Jamie? Jamie who rescued him, who tried to protect him.
What happened to her?
Alex swallowed, "I'm not sure Victor, I haven't seen her." Alex set Victor down and gave him his hand instead, "but don't worry, we'll find her, I promise."
Victor looked at Alex's eyes burning with determination and new sparks of life, the eight year old didn't realize that he had just not only saved Alex but all of them from this hell.
I can't leave Victor here and hell if I'm going to let Sergei's hands on him. Though first we have to find the others and maybe shoot a couple people along the way.
Alex silently as he tugged on Victors hand as he led them out of the room, maybe I'll stop by Rei and poke a couple holes in him.
The image made him smile and he continued down the hall, planning their miraculous escape.
Ok, I keep getting Rai and Rei mixed up so tell me if I do. Review and tell me what you think.
