"Why did you hesitate?"
Merlin turned and saw Arthur coming towards him his arms crossed. Merlin looked around and saw no one else near they were in the anti chamber planning, a plan that would get them into Camelot or die trying.
"What do you mean?" Merlin asked confused.
"When every one else stood at the table, you remained seated I'm curious as to why.
"Perhaps it's because they knew why they were rising, Arthur. Every person rose for something; honor, debt, loyalty, love. Friendship"
"Are you saying you rose for none of those Merlin?" Arthur whispered sitting down by his friend. He looked at Merlin and held his gaze.
"No, I rose for those things to, but I hesitated because I was afraid," he answered truthfully. Yes he was afraid there was no denying it to his self anymore.
Arthur snorted, "you afraid Merlin, now that's something I don't see every day"
"No it's not is it. It's not common to be afraid of what the future may bring, a future when completed you might not be a part of any more."
Merlin smiled at Arthur while standing up, he gave a small bow before moving into the anti-chamber where Leon's loud voice could be heard giving commands. Arthur watched him go and frowned
"a future when completed I may not be apart of"
Arthur felt chilled at those words and made to go after the man to force him into explaining when Lancelot came in and told them they were ready to depart. He picked up his sword and with his friends left for Camelot.
He planed to make it through alive for his self, Camelot, his people, his friends, and Merlin.
