"He's gone Arthur," the guard, Erik, said nervously, he didn't want to be the one in this position.

Arthur looked up from his desk, he looked like death. He shakily put his hands on the desk top and stood up, "have you searched the entire castle the grounds?"

"Yes, sire. The entire castle and the grounds as far as the outlaying villages"

Arthur growled grapping his jacket and strapping on his dagger, how could've he let this happen? It was all his fault if hadn't got mad at Merlin for startling the deer and sent him off., If he had searched for him when he was ready to return he wouldn't be missing.

He pushed pass the guard intent on going to the stables when Erik spoke again, " there were foot prints in the forest sire they were faint, but they looked like someone or something was dragged into cenrads land"

Arthur kept walking not stopping he said, "tell my father I'll be back and not to send guards, because I won't change my mind"

The guard hesitated not sure what to do, he knew uthr didn't like the fact Arthur risked his neck time and time again for a person lowly as a servant.

But then again Merlin wasn't just a servant he was Arthur's friend.

Arthur rode and rode Camelot getting smaller each passing hour; he leaned back in the saddle and jolted forward sending his horse into a jump. His nose caught the faintest hint of smoke, drawling the single blade he hopped of his steed. He could hear barbaric yells and crude comets from the thicket of the trees. He knew he found the men that kidnapped Merlin.

Arthur let out a roar as he jumped from the branch of the nearest tree he had perched in over an hour. He had watched as the men dragg Merlin from a tent and chain him up with a spike chain, as he struggled it bit into his skin. He didn't cry out for he was gagged, Arthur didn't think he'd yelp if he wasn't. He was too proud for that. He thought he'd lose his lunch a couple times and just kill the bastards with out waiting for they had abused Merlin in ways that would make his skin crawl, he was left bruised and broken, bleeding from the whips and physical fighting.

Arthur drew blood as the blade made contact with the man's fleshy back, his screams alerted the others as they gripped there weapons. He didn't even notice he was wounded as he took each and every man down till none were left, he steeped over the last victim and saw Merlin had gone. He ran quickly into the tent Merlin had been in and saw him laying down on his side, but a man, no doubt the commander and chief, stood in his way.

"you looking for this," he asked his tone deep as he picked up Merlin like a rag doll.

"put him down," Arthur spat hefting his blade

"ahh so I was right this is the servant I heard the prince was so found of," he airly stated like this was something he never heard of.

"I wonder what makes him so special, could it be in interbilty not to scream," the man said throwing Merlin across the tent. He slammed into the pole and landed in a heap.

Arthur threw all his wait into the attack but was parried each time, he backed off and survived his opponent. The man was large and strong, yet he was lacking the ability to be fast. Arthur seized the moment when the large man charged and ducked under him and drove the blade home.

He let out a sickening gurgle of blood as he collapsed onto his knees; he looked up at Arthur his face surprised. Arthur ripped out the blade and the man fell, the prince looked at him and snarled, "no one, I mean no one, gets away with hurting my friend."

Arthur ran over to Merlin and rolled him on his side, he was alive and breathing. Arthur picked him up effortlessly and carried him through the forest leaving the dead behind.

"Arthur?" Merlin wheezed looking up at the man he considered to be friend and brother.

"shh, mer it's alright I got you." Arthur found his horse that had been making it's way to him, when she heard the fighting. He put Merlin in the saddle and got on behind him pulling the rains towards home.

"I'm so sorry," he whispered

"it's- it's all right pra- prat I forgive you. Just don't leave me next time.," Merlin said his head falling onto the older mans chest as he fell asleep.

Arthur let a lose tear fall and it splashed on his younger broth's hair because he knew Merlin really forgave him.

Arthur whispered softly to Merlin even though the man was snoring," I'll always come for you You know I'll always come for you"
