Thud… thud… thud…
"Ugh… Yesss. Right there."
Thud… thud… thud…
"Harder. Yesss."
That was it. I had enough of the noise and sex fest. I mean, how much sex could two people actually have? With the way those two went at it, you would think her vagina would be sore and his dick would fall off. Every night I had to listen to my roommate and her boyfriend go at it like bunnies.
You would think being an erotic romance writer that I wouldn't mind the noise, that maybe it was inspiration, but that was not the case. Was I jealous? Maybe. I mean who wouldn't be when you hadn't gotten laid in almost a year. But that was so not the point now. The point was I had a deadline to meet and all this noise was cutting into my writing time.
"AHHHHHH! YES! YESSS!"
That was my cue to leave. It was WAY too early in the evening for them to be anywhere close to being done, and if I wanted to make my deadline I had to find another place to write. I picked up my laptop, wallet, cell and keys, quickly tucking them into my messenger bag. I slipped on my coat and hurried out the door before the walls began to shake.
I honestly had no idea where I could go. It was too late for the library and a coffee shop would only work as a last resort unless I wanted to be wired all night. I walked out into the cool night air, inhaling the smell of the incoming storm. I walked a few blocks when I stumbled upon a little bar. I peered into the window and it didn't seem like it was overly busy or noisy, and I had to admit … a beer sounded really good.
A chime over the door announced my arrival. There were a few groups of people sitting around at high tables watching some game that was on the flat screen TV. I took a seat at the bar but didn't see any sign of the bartender.
"Yo, Eddie! You got a live one at the bar!" hollered one of the men sitting in front of the TV.
I looked over to see who hollered, gawking long enough to miss the bartender coming in with a tray full of clean glasses.
"Sorry darlin' I didn't hear you come in. What can I get ya?" A smooth, velvety voice with an accent asked.
His back was still to me as he quickly put away the glasses. All I saw was broad muscular shoulders covered by a tight, black t-shirt and a mop of reddish brown hair. A tattoo barely peeked out under the sleeve of his shirt.
"What'cha got on tap?"
"Guinness, Smithwicks, Murphy's Amber, Murphy's Stout, Newcastle and Boddington's."
I reached into my messenger bag to pull out my laptop, as I pondered my choices.
"Umm… I'll take a Guinness," I said, looking into the greenest eyes I've ever seen.
Not only were his eyes beautiful but his face was too. He smiled the most beautiful crooked smile that nearly took my breath away. His jaw was angular and covered in day old scruff, and his lips looked soft, warm and completely kissable.
Hmm… I wouldn't mind those lips on me… anywhere and everywhere.
I shook my head trying to rid my brain of the thoughts of the gorgeous man in front of me. He sat my beer in front of me and grinned again.
"Here ya go darlin'. Me names Edward if ye be needin' anything else."
My voice chose that moment to leave me, so I just smiled and nodded in return.
Oh. My. God. Not only was he completely gorgeous but he had the sexiest Gaelic accent I'd ever heard. I could have melted into a puddle of goo right there on the spot. I took a deep breath and opened my laptop.
"I hope you're not looking for internet… we don't have Wi-Fi here."
I looked up over my laptop to see him leaning against the bar grinning at me again.
"No… I'm good thanks," I said, taking a sip of my beer and opening my document.
I began to type while he tapped his finger on the bar and then walked away, unknowingly leaving me to my writing. Becoming completely engrossed in my writing, I had no idea how much time had actually passed, but at some point I had finished my beer, and mister hottie bartender came to ask if I wanted another.
"Sure." I waved with my hand, continuing to type away.
He set a fresh beer in front of me, taking away the empty one.
"If ye don't mind me askin', whatcha workin on there?"
I scoffed.
"As a matter of fact, I do mind. I'm in a groove right now, and I'd rather not lose it."
"Alright, alright," he said, backing away.
At that same moment, my computer reminded me that my battery was low. Shit. Maybe if I asked him really nice, he'd let me plug it in behind the bar.
"Edward!" I shouted down the bar at him.
He turned around with an eyebrow raised and a damn smirk on his face. What the hell was THAT about?
"Yes, darlin'?"
"Is it… would it be possible for me to plug in my laptop somewhere?" I managed to get out.
"Sure ye can. But it'll cost ya." He smiled his gorgeous crooked smile.
"Please?" I pouted, sticking my bottom lip out just a bit.
"Oh no darlin', not the pout. How could I possibly say no to those gorgeous eyes?"
I pulled out the power cord quickly handed it to him over the bar hoping that he wouldn't see the blush that graced my features when I was embarrassed.
"Thank you." I whispered.
"You're welcome." He smiled again and went back to wiping down the bar.
I vaguely remember hearing Edward make the announcement for last call. Was it possible that I had been writing for the past five hours? I looked down at my laptop and saw how much I had actually accomplished. My outline was done and I had a good start on the first chapter. Not bad at all.
"Darlin'… last call, you need a refill?"
I think I purposely didn't tell him my name just so I could hear him call me darlin' in that sexy Irish lilt.
"Actually, can I have a Coke please?"
"Sure darlin'," he said, pulling a glass from under the bar.
He set the glass in front of me.
"Thanks," I said, not bothering to look up from my computer screen.
Before I knew it, I was the only one left in the bar and Edward had begun to shut off the signs that were illuminated in the window and the TV that no one was watching.
"Are ye about done for the night? I'd like to close up this place," Edward said softly, as he stood in front of me behind the bar.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, I get so lost in what I'm doing sometimes that I don't realize how much time has passed."
I looked down at my watch and realized it was a quarter after two. I quickly began to pack up my laptop. Edward handed me the power cord and I packed it away as well.
"Thank you for that."
"You're welcome, laptop girl," he said with a wink.
I pulled on my coat and once again set out into the cool night air.
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
"Ugh… oh yeah… right there… harder…"
Thud… thud… thud…
"Oh God… yes baby… yessss."
They were at it again. Just when I thought I had the apartment to myself. These two were going to be the death of me … and my deadline. Once again I packed up my laptop, grabbed my wallet, keys and my cell, pulled on my coat and headed out of my apartment. I found myself heading toward the pub again.
The pub was a bit busier than it had been the night before, but the spot that I had claimed at the end of the bar in the corner was vacant, so I gladly staked my claim again. Mister Hottie bartender was nowhere in sight. I pulled out my laptop and began where I had left off earlier in the afternoon.
"Ahh, you must be laptop girl. Can I get you something to drink, sugar?" This was definitely NOT Edward because this time the deep voice had a southern accent.
I looked up to see a gorgeous blonde man with icy blue eyes looking right at me. Like Edward, he had a million dollar, panty dropping smile. He was lankier than the handsome Irish bartender, but just as tall and I'll be damned if his lips didn't look just as kissable.
"I'll take a Guinness please."
"You've got good taste in beer, sugar, I'll give you that." He winked at me. "I'm Jasper by the way, so just holler if there's anything else I can get you."
"Thanks," I said, looking up from my laptop to give him a small smile.
"No Edward tonight?"
"Oh, yeah he's here. He's cooking tonight since the cook called out. Should I let him know you're here?"
"No … no don't bother him. I just … I might have to plug in my laptop at some point and he was good enough to help me out last night," I murmured.
"Like I said sugar, if there's anything I can get ya, whether it's alcohol or electricity, just holler." He winked and walked away.
There must have been something about this pub … I wrote better when I was sitting here at the bar, and once again I found myself lost in the world I was creating on my laptop.
"Hey there, laptop girl."
I could have sworn someone was talking to me but with all the thoughts in my head and clicks of my fingers, I couldn't be sure.
"Earth to laptop girl… anyone home?"
I looked up to Edward's crooked smile.
"Hey. Sorry I didn't hear you."
"Lost again, were ya?"
God, if he only knew. Lost in his voice, lost in his smile, lost in his eyes … take your pick.
"Something like that."
"So do you actually have a name or should I just continue to call ya laptop girl?"
"I do, but darlin' works just fine." I smirked.
"Oh it does, does it?"
"Quite well as a matter of fact."
"Alright then darlin', I'll let ya get back to your typing there." He placed a fresh beer in front of me and cleared away the empty one.
I typed until my eyes felt heavy from lack of food and over indulgence of alcohol. I began to pack up my laptop, and waited for either Jasper or Edward to come back to the bar to grab my power cord for me.
"Leavin' early tonight are ya?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I was here late last night and up early this morning and I didn't eat a whole lot today, so I better quit while I'm ahead and make my way home."
"Did you drive here darlin'?"
Was that concern I heard in his voice?
"No, I live a few blocks from here. I walked."
"Oh… well it's raining pretty hard out there. You may want to wait until it settles down a bit." Edward suggested.
"Hey laptop girl … I can give you a ride home if you'd like," Jasper offered.
I wasn't sure if I liked that idea. I mean, it's not like I knew these guys. Sure, they seem nice enough; they sure as hell are hot enough.
"That's okay … I'll just wait a bit and see if the rain lets up."
Edward smirked and turned to go into the back.
I pulled out my iPhone to check my email and find something that would occupy me while I waited on the weather. Edward returned and slid a plate with a sandwich in front of me.
"Don't ye be arguing about it. Eat." Edward grinned.
"Thanks," I muttered.
My phone beeped, letting me know that I had a text. Of course it was from Rose.
Where are u? I hope ur not caught out in the storm, Em said ur car is here. ~R
I quickly typed out my response with a huff.
I'm ok, not caught out in the storm. ~B
I thought you were writing girlie? Don't you have a deadline? ~R
You've got to be fucking kidding me Rose, really?
"Who's feckin' kidding ye darlin'?"
Oh my god… did I say that out loud? It appears I did.
"My roommate. She's completely ridiculous." I laughed humorlessly as I typed out another response to her.
I was writing, but when I have two people screaming like banshees in the next room and the walls start to move, it's a little hard to concentrate. ~B
"Did you two have a bit of a disagreement?"
"Not exactly."
Thank goodness he left it at that. I really didn't want to talk about it, but at least I was able to ogle his ass as he walked toward the kitchen, which made me feel a little better. I tucked into the sandwich he brought me, which was delicious. Some kind of grilled chicken. I hadn't realized until I started eating how hungry I was.
Rose must have gotten the hint that I left our apartment to get away because she didn't reply to my last text. That was fine with me. I just prayed that they were done fucking like bunnies by the time I got home. It was after midnight and I really was tired.
"Finish up that sandwich and I'll take ye home me self." Edward smiled as he came in with another tray full of clean glasses and began putting them away.
"Do you make that offer to every single woman who walks into your bar?" I asked.
He turned toward me and stared me down with those beautiful emerald eyes. It was difficult not to stare back.
"Only ones with beautiful brown eyes who insist on being called darlin'." He smiled that gorgeous crooked smile. Yeah, I totally caved.
"Alright, just promise me you're not like an axe murderer or something."
"I promise," Edward chuckled.
Just as I finished up my sandwich, he cleared away my plate and empty beer glass.
"How much do I owe you?"
"You only owe me for the beer, which is eight darlin'."
"But-" I tried to argue.
"Don't argue, it was me pleasure."
I handed him a bill and he motioned for me to follow him down the bar to the register. He handed me my change and I just tossed it in the tip jar.
"You didn't have to do that, but I appreciate it none the less." Edward smiled. "Come on darlin', let's get ye home."
I followed him through the kitchen area to a utility room, where he punched a code into a heavy metal door. The door opened to a garage where a beautiful dark metallic blue car was sitting. I had no idea what kind of car it was, but it looked fast. He chuckled at my reaction.
"This is Siobhan. She's an Audi R-8," Edward explained, as he walked over to pull up the garage door. His sleeve came up over his bicep, and I got a view of the tattoo that I had seen peek out beneath his sleeve. It was a tribal of some kind, but it was beautiful. Edward opened my door for me, and I climbed in.
As we pulled out on to the street, I decided to suck it up and ask what his tattoo was.
"It's a bit of a tribal with a Celtic Trinity Knot," he said, lifting his sleeve so I could get a closer look.
It took everything I had not to trace the ink that stained his skin-preferably with my tongue.
"It's really beautiful."
Edward chuckled again.
"Okay where we going exactly?" I gave him directions and we were there in no time.
"You really weren't kiddin' when you said it was only a few blocks." Edward smiled.
"No, I wasn't." I grinned back. "Thank you for the ride. I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome darlin'," Edward said, flashing me that incredible crooked smile.
I opened the door and stepped out of the car.
"Oh Edward?" I asked, turning back toward him. "My name is Bella." I grinned and pushed the car door closed and ran toward the shelter of the lobby of my building.
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
I knew a confrontation with Rose was inevitable, but I tried to hold it off as long as possible. I didn't really care if she was pissed or not; I just didn't want to deal with her. I had hid in my room for most of the morning until she left around ten for her morning law class. After meetings with my publisher and agent, and food shopping, I couldn't avoid going home any longer.
Rose's car was there so I knew she was home, and I really hoped I didn't walk into the love shack. To my surprise the house was actually quiet for once at this time of day. As I put the groceries away, I heard soft footsteps approach and prepared myself for the brunt.
"So Bella… when did you become such a prude?"
"Excuse me? I am not a prude."
"Oh really? Then what was up with the text last night?"
"Oh I don't know, maybe I've been listening to you and Emmett go at it like bunnies and you're not exactly quiet. How the hell do you expect me to concentrate when all I hear is Oh Yes, give it to me harder?"
"Never bothered you before."
"Yeah well, maybe I just never said anything."
"I think your problem is you need to get laid. How long has it been Bella?"
"None of your business."
"Yeah, definitely need to get laid."
"With that I'm leaving."
"Where to Bella?"
I ignored Rose and started collecting my things, trying to make a fast escape.
"Oh come on Bella, there's no need for you to leave. We'll keep it down."
I turned to glare at her, realizing Emmett must be hiding in her bedroom. But could I really stay pissed at her? I mean if it weren't for her and Emmett's sexcapades I wouldn't have found the pub and the hot Irish bartender in the first place.
"You know what Rose? I'm really not mad but that doesn't mean I'm staying."
I hurried out the door, not waiting for Rose's response, but I did hear over my shoulder something about having to tell her soon. Whatever that meant.
Once again, my feet took me to the one place I wanted to be. I felt like a giddy little school girl wanting to get a peek at her first crush. I mean who wouldn't want to get a peek of Edward, let alone a full view? I sure as hell did.
I took in my surroundings as I entered the bar, noticing it was empty save for the regulars I observed the last two nights, plus a few stragglers. The spot I had claimed at the bar was vacant once again so I set my laptop up and looked to see if Edward was working the bar.
At first I didn't notice him anywhere, but once I took a better look, my sights came in contact with one fine ass. Tight jeans stretched over sculpted cheeks as he bent and restocked the bar, giving me a spectacular view. I knew that ass since I had ogled it the night before.
"Are ye going to ogle me arse all night or order a drink darlin'?"
Edward had straightened himself and was now smirking at me.
"I was not ogling you."
"Not that I'm complaining, but I think ye face tells another story darlin'."
I could feel the heat fill my cheeks.
"So Bella… what can I get ya?"
He had that damn gorgeous crooked smile plastered on his face.
"I'll take a Guinness please."
"So are ye ever going to tell me what yer always doing on that laptop?" He slid the beer in front of me.
"Maybe … why are you so interested?"
"I'm wondering what keeps a beautiful woman like you so captivated. Obviously it's not me company that keeps you coming back to me pub." Edward smirked.
"Honestly, it's relaxing in here. It's a helluva lot quieter than my apartment, that's for damn sure, and the eye candy isn't bad either." I grinned.
"Oh ho … eye candy eh? Never been called that one before, but it's nice to know that you finally admit to ogling me arse darlin'. I don't mind being 'eye candy' if it keeps you coming in to me pub."
I couldn't help but shake my head. I wasn't ready to admit that the quiet, relaxing pub wasn't my main reason for coming in here to write. Edward and Jasper were like muses. They made me write better. In fact the character in my current novel was a mash up of the two of them.
"So … darlin' Bella … you never did answer me question."
I sighed.
"I'm a writer. I have a deadline in forty three days and I'm four chapters in."
"A writer? And ye come in to me pub to write?"
I nodded.
"My roommate has her boyfriend over every night, and let's just say they aren't very considerate nor are they discreet."
"Aye sexin' it up next door are they?" Edward chuckled.
"And then some," I muttered.
Edward flashed me a grin and raised his eyebrows.
"Well Bella, I'll let you get back to yer writin', let me know if I can get yeh anything."
I opened my laptop and began to write, but it wasn't long before I just couldn't think of anything to put down. I had so many things churning in my head- the argument with Rose, the strange, yet flirty conversation with Edward. It all brought my writing to a screeching halt. Frustrated, I ran my hand through my hair and sighed. I closed my laptop and cradled my head in my hands.
Edward came to stand in front of me behind the bar.
"Are ye having a bit of writer's block?"
I groaned while he leaned over the bar and whispered.
"I can think of a few ways to stimulate your creativity." He winked and turned to go back into the kitchen.
He fucking winked. This man was clearly going to be the death of me. I packed up my laptop and gathered my stuff. I left a ten dollar bill on the bar.
My apartment was quiet when I got home. I checked my calendar and saw that I didn't have any appointments scheduled, nor did I have any commitments for the next few days, so I decided to go spend a couple days at my friend Alice's condo in Ocean City for a few days. I called Alice to let her know and I promised I would drive safely.
I spent a couple days enjoying the tranquility that her condo had to offer. It allowed me the space I needed to clear my head. Rose texted me a few times and I assured her that I was fine and just needed some time alone to just be.
Sunday night, I headed home to Seattle. I pulled into my space in the parking garage and saw that Emmett's Jeep was there. I couldn't be mad-Rose wasn't expecting me-I said I'd be gone a few days and in reality I'd only been gone two. Sure enough, when I opened the door to my apartment I could hear the animals howling… only their door was open.
Shit. I dropped my stuff in the dining room and walked right back out the door. Maybe Rose was right… maybe I did need to get laid. That wasn't happening any time soon, so I decided to go get my eye candy fix.
I walked into the pub and heard the familiar chime of the bell as I entered. It was fairly busy, but what I had come to claim as my stool at the end of the bar was empty. Edward and Jasper were both behind the bar, and there was a girl with curly strawberry blonde hair bussing the tables. I sat down at the bar and Edward smiled weakly and looked at me with wide, concerned eyes.
"Hey darlin'," Edward said softly. "I didn't mean to run ye off the other night. I'm sorry if I offended ya."
"Oh God, no Edward … I just had a lot on my mind and hadn't realized it until just then. I'm sorry if you thought you ran me off."
I felt awful that he thought he had offended me. He wasn't the reason I ran out … it was me. I can't explain it, but I felt drawn to Edward. Maybe it's because he seems sweet, it could be the sexy accent, or the way he looks in dark jeans, a t-shirt tight across the muscles of his chest and his tattoo peeking out.
"Can ye stick around for a bit?" Edward smiled that gorgeous crooked smile.
"Sure." I smiled back. God, this man was gorgeous, and damn if I didn't have the distraction of my laptop.
"Can I get ye a pint?"
"Actually, can I just get a Coke? It's been kind of a long day."
Edward chuckled.
"Isn't that usually why people ask for a pint?"
"I guess, but I'm not a big drinker. I've had more in the last week than I've probably had in the last year," I said honestly.
Edward set a Coke in front of me and smiled again.
"Don't go runnin' off … I'd like to talk to ye when I get a chance if that's okay?"
"I'm not going anywhere, but I won't be held responsible for any ogling that goes on." I grinned.
Edward winked back at me.
I was surprised that time passed by so quickly. Jasper and Edward would both stop and chat with me in spurts when they had a free moment. I guess it was so I didn't feel so alone sitting there by myself. Most everyone cleared out just after ten p.m. I watched as Edward pulled a glass out from under the bar and poured a pint sliding it down next to me, and then refilling my soda.
Edward sighed as he sat down next to me.
"Long day?" I asked.
"Yeah, we were slammed earlier because of the basketball games," Edward said, running his hand through his hair.
I watched as the strawberry blonde that I saw bussing the tables earlier brought a tray of glasses out to Jasper who began putting them away.
"I bet. Who's the blonde?"
"Ay, jealous are ye?" Edward chuckled. "That's Cat, short for Catherine. She's me cousin. She comes in on the weekends to help us out. Me uncle doesn't want me workin' me self to death."
My eyes widened. Was I jealous? Thank goodness she's just his cousin.
"So … ye just disappeared for like two days. What happened?"
The look in his eyes was one of concern, not mere curiosity. He made me feel comfortable for some reason. I sighed and began telling him why I walked into his pub the previous Tuesday night, and I told him everything in between-why I left, what I did while I was gone and what I walked in on and caused me to come back to the pub that night sans laptop. The only part I neglected to tell him was how sexy and beautiful I thought he was. There wasn't a snowballs chance in hell I'd tell him that at this point.
"So ye didn't take off to see yer boyfriend then?"
"No. Definitely not. My ex and I broke up about 8 months ago. It was time. We wanted different things."
"I know what ye mean. I've been there me self. If ye don't mind me askin', how long were ya together?"
"Ahh … umm, two years I guess."
"Wow. That's a fair chunk of time."
"Yeah. I don't regret it. We parted on good terms. We were friends first, everything else came second."
"Ahh… so you still see him?" Edward asked, his brow furrowing again.
Oh ho! Look who's jealous now!
"We talk every once in a while. He runs part of his father's company in Italy, so our schedules don't really mesh for talking much. Last time we talked, he mentioned a girlfriend, so I think you're good there." I winked.
Edward shook his head.
"Bella, I won't lie to ye. I think you're gorgeous, but I also think there's more to ye than a pretty face. I'd like to get to know the woman behind the laptop."
I couldn't stop the blush from reaching my face.
"Thank you."
"I really hope you'll give me that chance," Edward pleaded. "But for tonight, I think ye best be getting home. Ye look as exhausted as I feel."
"Good night Edward! I'll see ya Thursday!" Cat hollered.
"Night Cat. Wait! Aren't you coming tomorrow to help us set up for Thursday?" Edward asked, worried.
Cat laughed.
"No Edward. Some of us actually have paying jobs during the week. I'll be here Thursday around four."
"Shite," Edward said, running his hands through his hair.
"What do you need help setting up with?"
"Just decorating for St. Paddy's Day." Edward sighed.
"I can help," I offered.
"Bella, I can't ask ye to do that."
"You didn't ask, I offered. You obviously need the help. Please?" I asked, jutting out my bottom lip in a pout.
"Alright, alright. Damn woman, that lip might just be the death o'me."
Jasper walked out of the kitchen just as I was getting up and pulling on my coat.
"Bella, did you walk over here again, honey?" Jasper asked.
I nodded.
"It's pouring out again Eddie … and this storm is worse than that last one. You might want to give her a ride."
Edward turned to look out the window. It was indeed pouring.
"Come on, I'll give ye a ride home." Edward smiled.
Once again, I found myself following him through the kitchen to the utility room and out into the garage where his beautiful car was parked. He opened the garage door and then opened my door for me. Before getting in, he pulled on a heavy hooded coat.
"So, what time tomorrow?"
"How does noon sound? I'll even throw in lunch since yer givin' up yer day to help me."
"Noon is good, but Edward stop. I'm not giving up anything, I'm happy to do it, okay?"
A few minutes later, he pulled up in front of my building.
"Stay right there."
He got out of the car and came around to open my door for me, helping me out and escorting me over to the lobby doors.
"Goodnight, Bella."
"Goodnight, Edward. Thanks for the ride."
Edward smiled what was becoming my favorite crooked smile.
"Bella … I hope that you'll stick around long enough to come to me party at the pub Thursday." Edward said, looking anywhere but at me.
"I wouldn't miss it," I said, lightly kissing his cheek.
I turned and walked into my building heading straight for the elevators.
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
It was Monday morning and for once I didn't hate it. After a nice weekend away at the condo and talking with Edward last night, I felt like a new woman. There was just something about Edward that captivated me. He made me feel special and actually listened like he was really interested in me.
I was helping Edward with some decorations around the bar for the St. Paddy's Day party on Thursday, so after my meeting with my agent this morning I was free and willing to help.
I hopped out of bed deciding it was time to face the day ahead. I stumbled out of my room and stopped short when I collided with Emmett coming out of the bathroom in just a towel.
"Goddamn it! Emmett put some clothes on."
"Oh babe … you know you want some of this." He gestured with his hand at his body.
"Emmett, I'm serious. Get dressed."
"You're no fun Bella."
"Rose! Control your man!" I yelled down the hall where Rose was in her bedroom.
I walked into my bathroom and slammed the door. What the hell was going on around here? I quickly showered and dressed and went in search of some breakfast.
"You know he was just trying to rile you up," Rose said, as she entered the kitchen behind me.
"Yeah well…"
"So… who is he?"
"What?"
"Who's the guy that has you so flustered?"
"How did you know?"
"Bella don't you think I know you by now. The only time you ever act like this is when a guy is involved. So who is he?"
I went into detail all the events of the last couple days, from going to the pub, meeting Edward then Jasper, the flirting and the rides home. It was a surprise Rose could keep quiet this long without a smart remark or comment.
"So when do I meet him?"
"Well … actually … there's a party Thursday night for St. Patrick's Day at the pub and I thought maybe… you would want to go."
"Count me in. I wanna see this hottie for myself."
"Rose, promise you won't embarrass me. Please?"
"I'm not sure if I can."
"Rose…" I warned.
"Fine."
"Alright well I gotta go. I have a meeting in an hour with my agent and then I'm helping Edward at the pub."
"Wow Bella, he's already enlisted your services. Is he paying you?"
"It's not like that."
"Tell me how it's like then."
"Bye Rose."
I gathered my things and left for my meeting not giving Rose any more ammunition. I put my iPod in the dock and enjoyed some music on the short ride to my agent's office. My meeting only lasted about an hour and I still had time till I was meeting Edward, so I drove to the little coffee shop a few blocks from the pub. I figured I could relax with a cup of coffee and get about an hour's worth of writing in.
All too soon my hour was up and I needed to be at the pub to help Edward. I packed my stuff up and drove the few blocks to the pub.
The bar wasn't that busy since it was only a little after noon. A few of the patrons were enjoying lunch and a beer while watching some program on the TV. Jasper was behind the bar filling a customer's order and I didn't see Edward anywhere. I plopped down on a stool and waiting for Jasper to finish.
"Hey laptop girl. Edward had a problem with a food delivery and had to run and grab a few things."
"That's okay, I'll wait. And Jasper, you do realize I have a name right?"
"I like laptop girl better. So, can I get you anything while you wait?"
"I'll take a Coke please."
"Sure thing, sugar."
Jasper slid the Coke in front of me. "No laptop today?"
"I thought it might be rude since I offered to help Edward with decorations."
"How'd he finagle that? His boyish charms?"
"Something like that."
"So, you like my man Eddie?"
"Maybe ..." I could feel the heat flame my cheeks and knew I'd been caught.
"Well I know the feeling's mutual."
"I don't know about that."
"Women." Jasper muttered while shaking his head and went to help a customer.
I thought about what he said and wondered if he was pulling my chain or was really serious. I mean Edward could probably have any woman he wanted with the panty dropping Gaelic accent and sexy body, so why would he be interested in me.
"So Jasper, you have a girlfriend?"
"You hitting on me?"
"What? NO. I was just thinking my friend Alice would love you."
"So bring her by Thursday."
"Maybe I will."
Moments later, Edward walked in looking very flustered.
"I'm sorry darlin', I didn't mean to keep ye."
"Edward it's okay. Jasper and I've been talking."
Edward raised an eyebrow and Jasper just shrugged and walked away.
"Ye ready for lunch then? I make a mean fish and chips."
At that moment my stomach decided to growl.
Edward laughed and then walked to the kitchen. I wasn't sure if I should stay or follow, so I just stood there frozen in place.
"Ye comin' darlin'?"
I shook the cobwebs from my brain and hurried to follow him. I leaned against the counter mesmerized by the way his t-shirt stretched tight to show the muscles in Edward's chest flex and contract as he moved around the kitchen. What I wouldn't do to see a glimpse of that chest naked.
Edward made fast work of our lunch and soon we were seated at a table in the back of the pub.
"Vinegar?"
I scrunched my nose up.
"Eww… do you have tartar sauce?"
Edward rolled his eyes.
"Damn Yanks … can't have anything the way it was truly intended." He smirked.
"Yeah well, sweet girls don't like vinegar, it's bitter." I said, poking out my tongue at him.
"Did you just stick yer tongue out at me?"
"Maybe." I grinned.
"Don't stick it out unless you plan on using it there darlin'."
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't."
"Just for the record … I may have to check into this accusation of ye bein' sweet."
My eyes went wide. Damn he gave back everything I threw at him.
"And how do you propose to do that?" I asked, smirking again.
"That's top secret darlin', if I told ya, I'd have to kill ya." He winked.
Again with the fucking wink. This man could tell me to sit in pig shit for a week and I probably would.
"So what are we decorating?" I asked, hoping to distract myself.
Edward cleared away our plates and pulled a box down off the bar. He opened the box and pulled out shamrock garlands, table centerpieces, and shamrocks that hung from the ceiling with fishing line.
"Let me go into the back and pull out me ladder," Edward said, pulling out a couple of banners.
He tossed the banners on the bar and disappeared into the back room.
I held the ladder for him and handed him the shamrocks that hung from the ceiling. There were so many to hang, I thought we'd never get done, but I didn't mind… I was ogling Edward again the entire time.
When all the garlands and shamrocks were hung and all the tables had a centerpiece, I collapsed into my favorite stool.
"Feelin' like a pint now?"
"Hell yeah."
"Atta girl!"
I finished up my beer and went to pull out my wallet but Edward stopped me.
"It's on the house darlin'. You didn't have to help me today, but you did by the grace of your heart. The least I can do is buy ye a pint."
"Edward, I didn't mind coming in to help today, really. I was glad to do it, but I better get going. I do need to try and get a little bit of writing done."
"Are ye ever going to tell me what ye write about?"
"I write novels."
I knew exactly what was coming next.
"What kind of novels?"
I leaned over and whispered in his ear, so softly that only he could hear it.
"Erotic romance." I smiled.
I watched as his eyes widened and grew very dark.
"Goodnight Edward." I smiled as I walked out of the pub.
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
"Alice… we need to go shopping. I don't have anything to wear on Thursday," I said, almost panicking.
"Calm down Boo. What's Thursday?" Alice asked.
"I'm going to a St. Patrick's Day party … and you're coming too. There is a hot guy I want to introduce you to." I told Alice, talking about Jasper but thinking of Edward.
"Mmmhmm, and how cute is the guy that you're crushing on?" Alice giggled.
"Oh god Ali … he's the most beautiful man I think I've ever seen."
Alice giggled again and I began to tell her the entire story.
An hour and a half later we were walking through the mall trying to find something to wear for St. Patrick's Day. Alice picked up a pair of thong underwear with a shamrock on them.
"You are SO getting these Boo!" Alice squealed.
"Oh my God Ali, it's soo not like that."
"Maybe not, but it will be." She smiled her shitty all knowing smile.
Alice was my very best friend, fiercely protective, honest to a fault, and damn near psychic. The psychic thing came in spurts, but when she smiled that all knowing smile you knew you were screwed. I grabbed the underwear from her, and the next thing I knew she was throwing a green lacy bra at me. The bra was the same damn color as Edward's eyes for crying out loud! Alice just giggled.
I ended up buying the bra and underwear, but I was at a loss for a shirt. I figured I had something in my closet that would work with some dark skinny jeans and my favorite ballet flats.
Alice handed me a little shamrock pin.
"Wear this on your shirt. That's your green that everyone can see."
That night I once again picked up my laptop and headed to the pub. It was pretty busy when I got there. March Madness was just beginning and a lot of people where there to watch the games.
"Hey sugar." Jasper smiled.
"Hi Jasper," I said, shaking my head. "You and Edward really need to register those smiles as lethal weapons."
Jasper chuckled.
"Eddie will be out in a minute … he was hoping you'd come in tonight."
"Oh … well I wouldn't want to disappoint him now would I?" I grinned.
"Wouldn't want to disappoint who?" Edward asked coming up behind me.
"Geez Edward. You can't sneak up on a girl like that," I scoffed, as he returned to his spot behind the bar.
"Sorry darlin'." He apologized but smiled his crooked smile.
"Can I get ye a pint?"
"Sure." I said, passing him the power cord for my laptop.
I worked until I could barely hold my eyes open, and then I packed up my stuff. I slid a bill across the bar to Jasper and shook my head when he asked if I needed change.
"Leavin' already?"
"Yeah … I had another long day." I sighed.
"Do ye need a ride?"
"Nah, I'm good. I like to walk."
"Be careful darlin'. Will I be seein' ye tomorrow night?"
"I dunno. I have a dinner meeting scheduled with my agent, so it depends on how long that runs."
"Before ye go let me give ye this."
Edward handed me a t-shirt and I raised an eyebrow in question.
"Just a little something to show your support." Edward winked.
I slipped on my coat and wished Edward and Jasper goodnight and headed for home.
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
Wednesday morning I got up and decided to head down to the coffee shop to write for a bit. I needed coffee. Bad. I just felt too lazy to make my own at home. So I showered and dressed and grabbed my stuff so I could get a little bit of writing done before the book signing I had scheduled that afternoon.
I had just settled into a comfy oversized chair with my coffee in hand when I felt a familiar presence around me.
"Fancy meetin' you here darlin'." Edward smiled.
"Edward! Hey, how's it goin'?"
"I feel like yer cheatin' on me, writing here in a coffee bar instead of me pub."
I laughed.
"What can I say? Coffee is my fuel of choice this morning."
"I don't blame ye. I have to admit to an addiction to it me self. Mind if I sit for a bit?"
"Not at all," I said, pulling my messenger bag out of the way so Edward could get to the chair adjacent to mine.
"I don't want to interrupt yer writin'."
"You're not interrupting. I hadn't even started yet really, but that's okay. I'm not behind like I was."
"That's progress right?" Edward chuckled.
"Something like that."
We chatted for a while, about nothing, about everything. Edward was easy to talk to, he was charming and funny and incredibly intelligent. I learned that he was twenty-six and opened the pub after getting his bachelor's in business from UW, four years ago. Edward was currently working on his master's.
"How do you find time for that? I mean the pub seems like it would eat up most of your time."
"It's not easy, but I make it work. That's why I have Jasper. The pub is my dream not his, but he agreed to help me until I get me master's and then I hope I can buy out his share of the pub."
"That's quite a plan you have there Edward."
"It is, but plans can be made to accommodate other things ye know." He smiled his crooked smile.
"Darlin' I best be goin'… I have class to get to. But I hope to see ye tonight?"
"I hope so too. Bye Edward, have fun in class."
I watched as he walked out of the coffee shop. The rest of my day seemed to pass by in a blur. I had a book signing at a small bookstore over by the UW campus. It was my favorite kind of bookstore, one that had been there for years, it smelled like leather and old paper. It was comforting unlike the big chain stores.
After the signing, I went home to change quickly for the dinner meeting with my agent. I arrived at the restaurant just a little late, but I had to fight traffic to get there and no one understood that better than my agent, Victoria.
Bless her, she had a glass of my favorite wine waiting for me when I sat down. We chatted about my current project and a couple of other projects that the publishing company was proposing. We had dinner and a few more glasses of wine. The publishing company also wanted me to do a book signing tour following the publication of the book that I was currently working on. I opened my day planner and made sure that I had all the correct dates for deadlines and the tour. Before I even realized it, it was after ten p.m. but we weren't quite finished yet.
"Victoria… will you excuse me for a moment please? I just have to make a quick call."
She nodded looking up from her blackberry and I went outside to make my call. I had a complete brain blur when I last talked to Edward. I didn't bother getting his number, so I quickly decided to google the pub and prayed that Edward would answer.
"Masen's Irish Pub," a voice answered.
It was kind of loud in the background, so I couldn't tell if it was Edward or not.
"Umm… is Edward around?"
"This is Edward, who's askin?"
"Oh hey, Edward. It's Bella."
"Hey darlin', is everything okay?"
"Everything is fine. I just wanted to let you know that I can't make it in tonight. My meeting is running late. I'm sorry."
"That's alright darlin'. Thanks for callin' to let me know. Will I still see ye tomorrow night?"
"I wouldn't miss it."
"Alright, goodnight then Bella."
"Night Edward."
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
"Bella… what time are we going to the pub tonight?" Rosalie asked.
"Oh, umm I don't know. Maybe eightish?"
"Good, my last class gets out at six, so that's plenty of time to get ready."
"Rose … please tell me that you and Em are going to behave yourselves tonight?"
"When have I not behaved?"
I groaned. "Oh I don't know, maybe all the time. So Rose, please promise you won't embarrass me. I really like him."
"Okay, if it means that much to you. You do realize I can't control Emmett but I may be able to distract him a little." Rose wiggled her eyebrows.
"Jesus Rose! Is that all you think about?"
"Well when you have a stallion like Emmett."
"Oh God. Please kill me now."
Rose giggled. "I have to get to class. See you tonight."
oOoOOoOOoOoOOoOOoOo
Rose, Emmett and I entered the bar just a little after eight and it was packed to the gills. It looked like a sea of green with everybody showing their Irish spirit. On St. Paddy's Day everyone was Irish, even me. I had never seen it this crowded but pushed my way through the crowd to make my way to the bar.
"Is that him?" Rose whispered in my ear as she nodded towards Edward.
I just nodded and watched Edward move behind the bar helping customer after customer. He finally looked up and when our eyes met he had a big smile on his face. He finished helping a customer and then came to stand in front of me.
"Hey darlin'. I'm glad ye came."
"Me too. Can I get two Guinness and a Capt'n and Coke?"
"Sure thing."
He slid the drinks in front of me and I gave him a twenty. He was about to say something when a customer flagged him down.
"Bella, he's hot. He's just what you need. Maybe you'll get lucky tonight?" Rose whispered in my ear while grabbing her and Emmett's drinks.
I looked up to see Edward staring at me intently and then motioned with his head for me to move down to the end of the bar.
"What's up?"
"I saved a spot for ye." He nodded to the empty stool at the end of the bar.
"Edward, thank you."
He leaned over the bar and whispered in my ear. I just wanted ye close so no one else staked their claim. Oh and Bella? You look really sexy with my name on ye."
Edward winked and left me staring at his ass as he walked away. I looked down at my shirt and remembered I was wearing the t-shirt Edward gave me which read Masen's Irish Pub Where Everyone is Irish.
If he only knew how much I wanted him to possess me.
Alice decided to show her face around ten and instantly locked sights on Jasper. I had introduced them immediately and now they were making googly eyes at each other at the other end of the bar.
In between helping customers Edward kept an eye on me flirting while making sure I always had a drink in front of me.
Rosalie and Emmett were dancing along to the music coming from the live band that was playing. Every now and then I'd see Rosalie glance over at me and smile.
Warm arms wrapped around me from behind making me gasp in surprise. I hadn't heard him approach but I felt him, like a magnet being pulled to the other. He pulled me closer and I relaxed into his arms.
"Are ye having a good time?" Edward whispered in my ear.
My brain couldn't function with him touching me so I just nodded reveling in the warmth of his embrace.
"Good. Will ye dance with me?"
Again I just nodded and Edward took my hand walking us over to the makeshift dance floor where other couples were dancing. Edward placed his hands on my hips pulling me closer as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Shouldn't you be behind the bar?"
"One dance with a beautiful sexy woman won't hurt."
A little embarrassed by his words I tried to change the subject. "So … Alice and Jasper seem to be hitting it off."
"I've never seen me man act like that before."
"Maybe Alice just has that effect on him."
Edward laughed. "Maybe."
The way Edward held me against him made me feel so protected and safe. When the song ended Edward was hesitant to let me go looking into my eyes like he could see straight to my soul.
"What are you thinking about?" I whispered.
"How much I want to kiss ye."
"What's holding you back?"
"Nothing."
Edward lowered his head as his lips took mine softly in his. His lips caressed mine gently as he added more pressure. Slowly he slid his tongue over my bottom lip asking for entrance that I accepted without question.
A moan escaped my lips as his tongue touched mine and I could feel my nipples harden. Our tongues did an erotic dance taking what we wanted while heat went straight to my core.
Edward pulled back breathing heavy resting his forehead to mine. "Jaysus."
"Uh huh."
Edward grabbed my hand and walked me back to the bar kissing my cheek gently. "Thank you for the dance."
Edward went behind the bar and hollered. "Now that we've all had our craic, its last call my friends."
Shortly after last call was made the bar started to empty out and Emmett and Rose announced they were leaving as well. Rose quickly hugged me and gave me a knowing wink.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do." Rose smirked.
I could feel the blush heating my cheeks.
Alice was still at the other end of the bar gawking at Jasper as Edward was quietly telling him something.
Edward slowly walked toward me and God he looked was sex on legs. He held out his hand, silently asking for mine, and I gently placed my hand in his immediately feeling his warmth.
"Come on darlin', let's get out of this bar for a bit."
"Edward, it's late, where are we going at this hour?"
He smirked at me.
I followed him through the kitchen area to yet another metal door with another keyless entry pad on it. Edward typed in a code and opened the door, holding it open for me.
The door opened to a stairwell, Edward took my hand once again and led me up the stairs. Once at the top landing, there were two doors, Edward turned to face the door on the right which had yet another keypad on the door knob.
"Why all the keyless entries?"
"I always lose me keys. This way I never get locked out."
Edward opened the door and gestured for me to go in.
"Wow, Edward this is really …" I started to say, but I couldn't finish before his lips were on mine. They moved slowly and gently, but they were soft and warm just like I imagined they'd be and they felt incredible against my own.
"I'm sorry Bella. I just can't stay away from you any longer."
"Then don't Edward."
In one swift move Edward had me backed against the door with both wrists pinned above my head in one hand. His lips came down hard on mine capturing my soft moan as he slowly trailed a hand down my collarbone to the valley of my breasts cupping one gently. Even through the fabric of my shirt my nipples hardened as he rubbed a thumb over them.
"Edward …" I moaned.
"Yes, darlin'?"
"Please don't tease."
Edward released my wrists allowing me to touch him. I ran them up his strong, muscular arms as he continued kissing me, releasing my lips to kiss down my neck and barely exposed collarbone.
"As much as I love ye in me shirt darlin', it needs to come off," Edward said, tugging at the knot I had tied at my waist.
My fingers worked their way up into his hair as he finally freed the knot and tugged on my shirt, pulling it up over my head. He gasped at the sight of the lacy emerald green bra I was wearing. The shirt was tossed aside completely. Edward's hands returned to caressing my sides, his thumbs brushing just under my bra as he pressed even closer to me. I could feel his erection through his jeans.
"Jaysus, Bella."
I made quick work of getting Edward out of his shirt and the sight of his bare chest almost did me in. He had the perfect washboard abs with just a touch of hair. The tattoo that I had only had a peek of before was intricate and I couldn't stop myself from tracing it with my fingers.
Edward's hands fell to my hips and trailed down to the curve of my ass lifting me up gently. I wrapped my legs around him as he backed away from the door slowly while carefully carrying me across the loft.
I giggled as I fell back on the bed with Edward on top of me. I caught a glimpse of the lust in his eyes. He pulled me close for a kiss that gave me tingles in all the right places. I nipped his lip and slowly licked my tongue along the crease of his mouth and soon our mouths moved in perfect sync.
Edward trailed wet kisses down my neck and collarbone, eventually stopping at the juncture of my neck and shoulder. Gradually he started to move the straps of my bra out of the way as he kissed each shoulder.
"Do ye have any idea how sexy ye are?"
With a flick of his wrist, Edward had the front clasp of my bra open and was gently sliding both straps off my shoulders. He didn't waste time latching his lips around one pert nipple while massaging the other.
"Oh Gawd, ye taste better than I dreamed. Sweet and salty."
He caressed my breasts, licking, sucking until I was writhing with need under him.
"Edward, please."
He licked a trail from my breast down to my abdomen stopping just above the waistband of my jeans. His tongue dipped in my belly button while his fingers worked the button and zipper of my pants.
It didn't take long for my pants to join the rest of my clothes somewhere on the floor.
"Are these for me?"
I looked down to see the thong I had on that read You must be Irish because you're getting LUCKY and smirked.
"Well you're Irish right?"
Edward growled. "These must go."
The thong was thrown somewhere, leaving me vulnerable and naked. The way Edward was looking at me had me wanting and tingling all over.
"Tat tu alainn," Edward whispered.
"What did you say?" I asked softly.
He looked up and into my eyes and said, "You are beautiful."
I melted into the sheets at his words. Edward made me feel so beautiful and wanted.
I lifted up on my elbows looking at Edward who was still dressed in his jeans.
"I think you're over dressed, Edward. The pants need to go."
Edward raised an eyebrow and had a damn smirk on his face but he shucked out of his pants and boxers. I stared at the man in front of me looking right at his huge hard cock and wondered how it would fit.
Edward must have seen my concern and said, "I'll be gentle darlin'."
He caressed my calves and legs as he settled in between them with his cock just at my entrance. He worked his cock up and down coating himself in my juices.
Edward took my lips in a passionate kiss as he eased his cock in inch by inch. I instantly clenched my muscles as he entered me fully causing Edward to moan a deep masculine moan.
"Darlin' if you keep that up, this will be over too soon. And I have plans for you tonight."
"Oh God."
"No God, just Edward."
He plunged deep taking my breath away as I instantly wrapped my legs around his waist. As he pumped harder his lips covered mine possessively taking everything I could give him.
"Baby, yeh feel so good wrapped around my cock."
"Please don't stop."
"Oh, darlin' I have no intention of stopping."
I met Edward thrust for thrust bringing my clit in contact with his pelvis. I could feel my orgasm building in my belly as his thrusts became shorter and harder.
"Bella, I'm not gonna last."
"So close."
Edward fingered my clit as he drove faster and more urgent bringing my orgasm right to the edge.
"Oh Edward … fuck … your cock feels soo good."
That was all it took to send Edward tumbling over the edge that we were both so precariously hanging on to, both of us shattering into each other. Edward collapsed on top of me, the weight of him was deliciously comforting. The feeling of his skin on mine, covering me, the feel of him inside of me … indescribable.
"Shite Bella, I'm crushing yeh."
"No, you're fine Edward. The weight feels good actually."
Edward carefully lifted his weight off of me and slowly pulled out. I missed him immediately.
"Lift yer bum, darlin'," he said, pulling down the covers on the bed.
I did as he asked and he crawled in beside me, pulling the blankets up over us. He wrapped me up in his embrace as he whispered to me in his sexy Irish Gaelic dialect, his rich voice washing over me, making my flesh pebble.
I reached down between us and ran my hand along the length of his erection. It was like steel sheathed in silk, so soft and so hard. Feeling him in my hand, I couldn't believe that his length and girth had just been inside of me, but I knew I couldn't wait to experience it again.
Edward continued his sweet whispers as he moaned from my touch and only stopped when I captured his lips with mine in a searing kiss. His tongue flitted along the contour of my bottom lip, nipping at it softly. His hands were at my hips pulling me closer to him as he thrust his hips into my hand that was massaging his cock.
"Can I make love to ye sweet Bella?"
"Yes," I whispered.
Then he was kneeling between my thighs, running his hands up and down them gently, caressing my hips until he leaned over me and gently pushed into me once again.
I moaned at the contact. Edward felt so good … so right. He lovingly worshipped me with every kiss and every touch. He thrust in and out of me, slow and deep, taking and giving what we both needed from each other.
Our release, was gradually building at our unhurried pace. Edward kissed up my chest to my collarbone and he lovingly attending to the sensitive spot beneath my ear as he whispered to me once again.
"Ta tu alainn, and yeh have me heart."
