Author's Note: Again, weird AkuRoku thingy...short, as usual. Can be seen as a companion to 'Juxtaposition'. So you know, I know all these words 'cause I'm like a mini dictionary. My friends actually call me that...If you need a word, go to me.
Disclaimer: Don't own Kingdom Hearts, though that would be epic.
Axel was a martyr.
At least, according to a ridiculously massive dictionary that he obtained from Zexion (he had no idea how someone like Zexion managed to hold the thing…). The moment he had opened the book, he half-choked on the cloud of monochrome dust that fluttered into his face with a mocking pwooosh, coughing and silently berating the sneaky bastard. But even so, after giving the book a good shake (he made sure he did so while in the library in hopes it would torment Zexion later-he would get better revenge some other time…), he found himself scrolling randomly through the list of words (which honestly had begun hurting his eyes after a while-all those words were so minuscule it was already difficult to see, and soon Axel found his vision spinning from staring) in a futile attempt to quench the intense boredom ravaging him (was boredom an emotion? Whatever…). Avarice, Bare, Broken, Disconnect, Rules-damn, he somehow had flipped to the R's. Okay, screw that-with an annoyed huff, he plopped back onto the bed and let the book fall onto the floor with a thunk.
He winced. If Zexion knew he had even let that book fall, he was dead…Axel was too awesome to be dead. So, he reluctantly stretched back down and pulled the old, abused book (the edges were curled and ripped, every page was wrinkled, and it was obvious it was a rather crude attempt at a dictionary, filled with gibberish-words…) back up, rolling his eyes and once again reminding himself to find proper payback for Zexion. And that was the day he discovered that rather interesting word, way on the top of the page the book had flipped to.
mar·tyr [mahr-ter]
-noun
1. A person who willingly suffers death instead of renouncing religion
2. A person who is killed or endured torment on behalf of any cause, belief, or principle
3. A person who undergoes constant suffering
4. A person who feigns or exaggerates pain, deprivation, etc. to gain attention or sympathy
Huh. Well, this dictionary certainly liked the word Suffering, didn't it? It certainly didn't sound that fun…plenty of suffering involved. But still, did his attatchment to Roxy make him a 'martyr'? Honestly, he believed he was in 'love' with Roxas…At least, as in 'love' with someone as a Nobody could be. And he was pretty sure it was the same with Roxy. Scratch that; he was sure. He knew it. He was fine with death or some suffering if Roxas was fine. …(and though he wouldn't admit it, he did feign and exegerate a lot of things…it make Roxas feel 'bad' for him…could a Nobody feel bad?)
And with Larxene, Marluxia, Zexion, Saix and everyone else…yep, he endured plenty of suffering…
And in the end, this theory was proven true. Well, technically, he did die for Roxas, right? Sora is Roxas…he died for Sora, so therefore he also died for Roxas. His logic was stunning, was it not?
Yep, he was definitely a martyr. A very hot (literally and figuratively speaking…) martyr with the belief that he, an unfeeling, uncaring being, was in 'love'…and with another unfeeling, uncaring being. Seriously, these situations sometimes hurt his head. Damn complications…they were making him endure even more suffering, weren't they?
…Geez, what a martyr…
