21 Chapter 3: You & Me

Thank you to Pink Hime Lacus and everyone that reviewed this prequel so far. The title for this chapter comes from the Big Whiskey and The GrooGrux King album. And apologies for any inaccuracies. I know two weeks is far too early to see an embryo, I was just figuring it would be a small blip at 3 weeks and Reid is close to that. But again I am sorry.

Obviously from the warning this takes place right after 100, but before the funeral. So Reid does have his cane by now. And for those that haven't read my profile, I pulled a ligament in my right thumb but I am pulling through with a brace. I will eventually get it looked at. But that won't stop my fic writing, despite how much it hurts. I'm pulling a Reid and only using ibuprofen if I need it.

Disclaimer: Same as previous chapters. I only own Dr. Katska; I don't own Sentara Potomac Hospital.

Warnings: Possible spoilers for 100 for those that haven't seen it. And the mpreg starts at the end of this chapter. Although Reid is feeling bleh for the entire chapter.

So Much to Say

You and me together, we could do anything, Baby
~ Dave Matthews Band

Morgan looked up at the empty office of their unit chief, totally understanding why he wasn't there. But he was also concerned as to why Reid hadn't shown up yet. He knew what they had done two weeks earlier, but did it end up being worse than he thought? He started to feel concerned, but tried to hide it from Prentiss and Rossi. Mostly due to Rossi being the enforcer of no inter-team dating, but if it was anyone from another team or department it was fine.

"You alright?" JJ asked, almost used to asking Reid the same question instead of Morgan. But she knew that the whole team had been affected by Haley's death, especially since they all heard the resounding gunshot over the phone.

"I think everyone is still in shock to be honest with you." Morgan replied, looking up at JJ as he felt her hand on his shoulder. "But I haven't seen Reid at all today. It's not like him to be this late, let alone miss his daily cup of sugar."

JJ chuckled softly, managing a weak smile before looking up toward the offices. Rossi was working on paperwork, and Hotch's office was still vacant. They had all given their statements as to what had occurred to Strauss the day before, and all statements were true.

"I haven't seen him." JJ frowned, worrying about her friend and fellow agent. "But you know he wouldn't lie, Strauss seems to forget about his eidetic memory. She couldn't have suspended him for lying about something like this."

"I doubt that's it." Morgan sighed, rubbing his temples lightly as he tried not to think the worst. It was now going on 10, and that was when they normally had case briefings. "But… can I tell you something? I know Reid will kill me, although everyone will eventually find out."

"What happened?" JJ asked, folding her hands together as she sat in a chair next to Morgan's desk. "I know you two left for the museum, but I don't know anything after that."

"We are sort of together." Morgan replied, almost waiting for Rossi to come barging down the stairs. Or even Garcia and Prentiss say 'We knew it!' from somewhere in the building. He even awaited JJ's reaction, not sure how his liaison friend would take the news. "About two months now, give or take a day."

"Really?" JJ smiled, still trying to piece together anywhere Reid may have gone. "So when you went to the museum, it wasn't really just a friendly outing. Maybe we should go to his apartment to check on him."

"Sounds like a good idea." Morgan replied, heading downstairs with JJ. He would make sure to text Garcia later once they found out what was going on with Reid. He hoped that he hadn't hopped a plane to Vegas without saying a word, although after something that horrific happened he wouldn't blame the younger male. "But you are right; it was more than just a friendly outing to the one place Reid doesn't feel out of place at."

Reid sighed softly, looking over at the clock next to his bed. He waited for his head to stop spinning, on top of waiting for his stomach to finally settle down long enough for him to sit properly. He then saw what time it was, and instantly a frown crossed his lips. Was he really that late to work? Better hope we don't have a case… I doubt I can explain why I'm late…

He soon heard someone knocking on his door after hearing his phone buzz across the table before it landed on the carpet. The young genius shook his head, making a mental note to pick it up after he got up from the bed. He reached for his cane, eventually standing up and exiting his room. He heard the knocking continue before he looked through the peep hole to see JJ and Morgan standing outside. He unlocked the deadbolt and removed the chain before he opened the door, allowing his friend and boyfriend inside.

"What happened?" JJ asked, looking her friend over carefully. He looked very tired, his dark circles around his eyes seemed darker but that was probably the light in the living room. "We tried calling, but you didn't answer. And you didn't show up today for work."

"I didn't hear my phone go off." Reid replied, focusing his attention on JJ before he looked over at Morgan. Both had looks of concern on their faces, which was understandable considering everything going on lately. "And my stomach has been acting up."

"We'll get you something that you can keep down." Morgan spoke, looking Reid over for a moment. "But you should get dressed and come with us to work. If you feel worse by the end of the day, go to the hospital. No playing tough guy and using the 'I'm fine' excuse."

"Can you tell me the symptoms?" JJ asked, looking at her friend. She didn't ask if he and Morgan did anything on their night, but she figured that would come to light eventually. "You're a genius, so you know very well that you can't be sick with food poisoning for a long time."

"I know." Reid replied, frowning lightly as he headed back to his bedroom to pull out his clothes from his closet. "It doesn't feel like food poisoning… I ate Thai food with Morgan, but that was two weeks ago. I started feeling ill about four days ago, and that would be a little late for the onset of any kind of food borne illnesses. Although some do have different incubation periods…"

"You don't seem to be running a fever." JJ noted, watching Reid put his leopard spotted white shirt on the bed along with the khaki slacks and a pair of the usual mismatched socks. "I say you go to the doctor after work, and if you want me to I can go along with you."

"Thanks." Reid smiled, trying to run varying factors through his head. He wondered what could be making him feel this way over the last four days. He knew they would be getting a case eventually, and he'd have to try and press through whatever the illness was.

"No problem." JJ spoke before heading out of the younger male's room. She had contemplated on telling him that she knew about his and Morgan's relationship, but figured that could wait until he had changed.

"Feeling any better?" Morgan asked, noting the look on JJ's face before he turned his attention back to Reid who had emerged from the bedroom. "I think there is something that JJ wants to tell you before we finally get going."

"Oh?" Reid blinked, looking at his friend. "And I think I'm feeling a little better… the weird feeling is gone for now."

"I know about you and Morgan." JJ replied, moving to hug Reid gently before pulling back. "I am happy for you both. I thought something was up, but you did so well hiding it at work that I couldn't figure anything out. And I'm not even a profiler."

"He does call me Pretty Boy almost all the time, so it would be hard to tell." Reid smiled, watching JJ for a moment. "And we are trying to keep things professional to avoid reprimand from Rossi and Strauss. But I have a feeling Prentiss is figuring something out along with Dave."

"It's near impossible to hide anything from profilers." Morgan chuckled, shaking his head lightly. "We just have to be careful until we tell them. Although I'm really surprised Prentiss didn't mention anything after the shoulder massage."

"She probably thought it was normal." Reid shrugged, heading down the hall with JJ and Morgan. He saw the concerned looks on their faces and tried to reassure them the best he could. "We'll tell Hotch first, he deserves to know. And I have a feeling Garcia will find out unless she has already done so."

"Never know." JJ smiled, heading down the stairs with her co-workers before all three got into the SUV. She noticed Reid close his eyes once more, moving his hand over his abdomen. "Stomach still bothering you?"

"It's just strange." Reid replied, trying to pass off the discomfort as something as simple as indigestion or a passing stomach flu. But he logically knew that a stomach bug wouldn't last four days and he was long past the point for food poisoning. "I guess a visit to the doctor wouldn't be a bad idea."

"My offer still stands." JJ spoke as they drove off toward the BAU. "If you aren't better by lunch I am taking you there while we're on our break. Got it?"

"Understood." Reid smiled, watching the cars pass by as they drove down the road. It was all very confusing to him, not understanding what was happening. He had been sick before, but not for so long. It was starting to concern him more than it should have been.

…..

"You look happier than usual." Prentiss spoke, noticing Morgan smiling more than usual. Plus she had been picking up on slight hints over the last few weeks with how he was acting toward their favorite genius. "Have a good date last night?"

"You could say that." Morgan replied, the smile not leaving his lips before he directed his attention back to his paperwork. "Yet it is none of your business."

"Oh come on. I'm your partner, we tell each other everything." Prentiss protested, although failing at the puppy dog eyes. She had to give kudos to Reid for being able to pull that off.

"Not everything." Morgan grinned, looking up at the dark haired woman. "You don't tell me anything about your love life, so why should I even mention mine?"

"Touché." Prentiss chuckled softly, turning her attention to Reid who had taken his seat. "Oh… did you know Haley's funeral is tomorrow?"

"Right." Reid spoke softly, knowing he would have been a pallbearer if it wasn't for his cane. But he was most definitely still attending, it was only right even if he didn't get along that well with Haley. The last he could do was to be there for Hotch.

"There is something that Reid and I wanted to tell everyone though. And we will definitely tell Hotch when he comes in." Morgan started, standing up from his desk before he walked over to the younger male's desk.

"What is that?" Rossi asked, walking down the stairs after a few minutes of finishing up paperwork. He noticed Garcia walk in through the glass doors, more than likely to get a fresh cup of coffee from the break room. "If it doesn't pertain to what is going on, I don't see why it is that important right now."

"You're right." Morgan started, but he had to tell them. "But I know your rules Dave, and what I am about to tell you just may break one or two of them. If not all, and we have to try and keep Strauss in the dark."

"That is a bad idea Derek." Rossi started, knowing their section chief was even stricter than he was on the whole protocol issue. "Just tell us what is going on, please."

"Reid and I have been seeing each other for the last three weeks." Morgan admitted, seeing a surprised look on Rossi's face along with the expected 'I knew it!' smile spread across Garcia's fuchsia colored lips. That was tripled by Prentiss's shocked look, before a faint hint of the same look Garcia had crossed her features.

"And how long have you had feelings for each other?" Rossi asked carefully, knowing how this would go over with Strauss. "I figured something was up, with how protective you are over him. It seems like more than a brotherly type of love."

"We admitted our feelings prior to the museum trip, which coincides with the three weeks. But it would actually be a month on Monday." Reid spoke, looking toward the older male. "But I believe we have had feelings for each other for at least a year if not longer. They just seemed to be stronger after I contracted anthrax… including Morgan's concern after I got shot."

"It was longer than that angelfish." Garcia smiled, hugging her two friends before quickly pulling away from both of them. "He was concerned after Hankel when he saw you get beaten; when you died… he's had feelings for you for a long time."

Rossi listened to the quirky tech analyst before a faint smile crossed his lips. "I won't mention it to Strauss, and I doubt Aaron would either. But try to keep the relationship professional while inside this building. That includes working on cases."

"We've kept it professional thus far." Reid spoke, moving to look over a paper quickly before he turned his attention back to Rossi. "But we will continue to do so, even on cases. However when we're off the clock we are free to do what we wish."

"Of course." Rossi smiled. "I am glad you two finally admitted your feelings for each other."

"I knew you it." Prentiss replied. "I think we're all happy for you both."

"Thank you." Reid smiled, watching Morgan smile as well.

…..

JJ looked out of her window down into the bullpen, noticing Reid was still going through papers at his normal rate due to his reading abilities. But he seemed to have been distracted over the last two hours, and just now decided to bolt toward the restrooms for the second time since he arrived. She smiled, getting a better idea of what was wrong. Probably not possible… but that looks like morning sickness to me. She thought.

The blonde decided to walk down the stairs, glad that Morgan and Prentiss were busy with their own paperwork before she exited the bullpen. The last thing she wanted was for them to notice her heading after Reid when it was obviously Morgan's job.

After a few moments the young woman waited outside the restroom, but still didn't see any signs of Reid exiting. She waited patiently, occasionally walking down the hall and acting like she was heading back toward the bullpen in case someone caught her. Soon her patience was rewarded, but she felt bad after seeing how bad her friend looked. "That's it; we're heading to the doctor."

"Don't have to take me…" Reid spoke, about to protest before he almost immediately clung to the water fountain as a dizzy spell coupled with a small wave of nausea hit him. "Alright… you better…"

"That's a good genius." JJ smiled, rubbing her friend's back gently. "Spence, it's alright if you don't feel well. Everyone gets sick, even geniuses. No one is immune."

"We can't just leave." Reid started, reluctantly turning away from the backrub as he headed toward the elevator with JJ. "I know we're slow, but if Hotch came back and heard about me and Morgan being together… and I'm not here, odds are things won't end well."

"We will come right back after we see the doctor." JJ replied. "I will call when we're on the way; I'll say that you don't feel well. And that is the truth since you've been in the bathroom for awhile."

Reid nodded, entering the elevator as he and JJ exited the building. He just didn't know what the results would be, all he could really hope for was something that wasn't bad news. He didn't even know why he was worrying, it could have easily been a stomach flu and would pass in a day or two.

Sentara Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge Virginia

"Good morning Jennifer." Dr. Katska smiled, walking out from behind the nurses station after signing a chart for one of her patients. "How is Henry doing?"

"He's great." JJ smiled, looking at Dr. Katska before directing her attention to Reid who had been standing patiently next to her. "Oh, I apologize Anya. This is Dr. Spencer Reid, the one I called you about. He said he's been ill for the last few days, but doesn't think it is food poisoning related."

"You seem pretty knowledgeable Dr. Reid." Dr. Katska smiled, looking the younger male over before reaching for a blank clipboard. "But you aren't a medical doctor are you?"

"He gets that a lot." JJ replied, watching Dr. Katska. "He has a total of five degrees, and working on a sixth. But no, he's not a medical doctor."

"That's pretty impressive." Anya started, watching the younger male as he sat down. "Care to tell me what your degrees are in?"

"I have PhDs in Mathematics, Chemistry and Engineering. And B.A.s in Psychology and Sociology, and I'm currently working on Philosophy." Reid smiled; glad someone was genuinely interested in his achievements. "I have an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory and can read 20,000 words a minute."

"It's rare to have a super genius here." Anya smiled before looking back over toward JJ. "So why did you want me to look at your friend? I'm not a regular doctor."

"I know Anya." JJ replied. "But I do have a feeling I know what is wrong with him. He has been involved with a co-worker of ours for the last two months, and I think things got a little more intimate. But it could just be a bug."

"I'll run a blood test first." Anya replied, leading JJ and Reid into one of the exam rooms. "Then I'll send for an ultrasound. Mostly to rule out a possible tumor or anything else that might be causing his discomfort."

"Sounds good." JJ answered, sitting down next to her friend. She soon felt her phone buzz in her pocket, hoping she didn't get in trouble for answering it in the hospital. She looked at the caller ID and was slightly surprised by who was calling. "Yes? I left a message with Prentiss. They're going to run blood tests and do an ultrasound. Yes I will be back as soon as possible along with Reid. No it won't happen again. Thank you."

…...

Reid lay back on the exam bed, already a little too familiar with the hospital already. Not this particular one per se, but he had been in enough over his years in the BAU they all started to look alike. His attention was drawn to a diagram on the wall, raising his eyebrows slightly as he looked over them. "Wait a second…"

"Something wrong Spence?" JJ asked. "Don't mind the posters; they're in every exam room here. The one next door has the inside of an ear."

"Dr. Katska she's an OB/GYN isn't she?" Reid asked, moving his hands over his abdomen while turning his head back so he could look up at the ceiling and count the dots on the tiles. The counting of the dots didn't take long to do. "There are 20 dots per square, and 15 squares in Dr. Katska's exam room. There are 300 dots in this room alone."

"She is. I brought you here because of the symptoms you mentioned when you came in." JJ frowned, moving to put a hand over Reid's hands. "It sounded a lot like morning sickness, plus the fact that you ran to the bathroom after lunch."

"I won't say it's impossible…" Reid spoke softly, turning his head while waiting for Dr. Katska to return. She had already done the blood, which he didn't like too much due to the needle used. "It's just extremely rare for men to get pregnant, and those that do get pregnant aren't aware that they can carry until they get confirmation of their condition. Or until they deliver… although it would be hard to not notice a fetus moving around or kicking you."

"What will you do if you are?" JJ asked softly, keeping her hand where it was until she heard the door open behind her. She spotted Dr. Katska with a portable ultrasound and a sonogram tech with her. "Whatever you decide, Morgan has to know. He is the father isn't he?"

"Of course he is." Reid replied, and then a slight hint of fear crossed his face. He moved one hand slightly, knowing that even if he was it would still be a little too soon to detect any visible change with his body. "Damn… we didn't…"

Dr. Katska blinked, carefully reaching for the younger male's hand before she moved both away from his abdomen. "Sorry Dr. Reid, we just have to check on something. The gel will be a little cold. What didn't you do?"

Reid frowned lightly, knowing Dr. Katska warned him about the gel. He watched her turn the monitor on before moving the transceiver across the gelled area slowly. He noticed how slowly she went, studying every possible angle before she stopped.

"Oh…" JJ spoke quietly, looking at the monitor before she looked at her friend. "I think I know what you were trying to say. You didn't use protection of any sort…"

"I think he was going to, I don't know… he said he had to get something." Reid replied softly, his voice shaking a little as Dr. Katska rolled the ball on the console to get a closer view of the object. "Then one thing led to another… and he apparently forgot to…"

Dr. Katska turned up the volume, not knowing if the younger male wanted to hear this or if it would make him more upset. "Apparently you're right in your suspicions Jennifer."

"It is very tiny…" JJ smiled, before looking over at her friend who still had tears in his eyes. "About how far along is he?"

Reid looked at the small figure on the screen, trying to figure it out himself. He knew they couldn't really see anything until at least three weeks. And it would be about three weeks soon since the museum, so the timeline fit.

"Two weeks and four days." Reid spoke quietly, seeing the very tiny figure before Dr. Katska turned the machine off. "I have to discuss this with Morgan… what do I do?"

"We can let you decide." Dr. Katska spoke, helping the young male sit up after she wiped the gel off his abdomen. "We can see the heartbeat at 7 weeks, and it can be heard as soon as 10 weeks. But I'm sure you know that."

"Thank you…" Reid spoke, watching Dr. Katska as she left the room. He looked at JJ, a look of fear and confusion on his face. He honestly didn't know what he was going to do. But the very first thing would be to tell Morgan, and then deal with everything else later. He also knew it would be foolish to tell the others just in the off chance he miscarried, or didn't want to carry the pregnancy to term. But he wasn't even sure about anything yet

I'm going by the normal time, not what I've seen in other fics where a day later you feel ill. Trust me, it doesn't happen that way. Anywho, reaction from Morgan will be next chapter. That will make those who asked about them in Improbability happy. And more reaction from Reid aside from the shock.

As for when Reid will move in with Morgan, we'll see that happen soon. I'm trying to tie up all loose ends. For those waiting for the sequel, it will be up eventually. I shouldn't have promised when, but possibly Monday at the very latest. If later, please PM me and I will try to upload it ASAP.
