Ed stood in front of the gate as it swung open. Winry, the twins and Bailey were also there, standing beside him as the black arm-tentacle-things shot out and grabbed them. Those from our world started to freak out, Ed remained calm as he possible could, Winry not as calm, but calmer than the others. The five were pulled into the gate and spat out on the other side.

Ed groaned as he woke up, he sat up, holding his head, suddenly realizing he was in a hospital bed. "Huh?" He looked around and saw the twins and Bailey in the other beds beside him. "What...?" There was also an empty bed beside him. "So... we made it back. But they got dragged along with us..." Ed looked forward, at the door to the room, as the door opened.
Winry and Al walked in.
"Alphonse..." Ed almost whispered.
Alphonse smiled brightly at his older brother. "Hey."
Edward climbed out of bed and gave his brother a tight hug which was returned. "Aaaaaaaaaw" came one of the twins' voices in a sarcastic tone, "It's so cute!" Ed spun on his heel and tackled Zack off of his bed. "Ow! Stop hitting me! I get it, I get it! I'll shut up!" He begged for mercy and Ed stood and grumbled back over to his bed.
Cody was next to wake up. "Woah! So that wasn't a dream...? Or am I still dreaming?" He looked around the room, "Someone hit me." Zack gladly smacked his brother upside the head. "OWWW!" Cody clutched his head, "Not so hard, I'm sensitive!"
Alphonse sweatdropped. "These are your friends from the other side of the gate?"
Ed sweatdropped along side his brother, "Sadly... yes." Bailey was next to wake up.
"Zack, why do you have a black eye?" she asked. Zack pointed at Ed.
Ed frowned, "He's being stupid."
"That's not a very rare occurrence." Winry pointed out. Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Hey!" Zack said.
A nurse walked in, "General Mustang has come to see you, Edward."
Ed blinked, "Colonel Sarcasm hasn't been demoted for killing the Fuhrer?"
Al shook his head. "No, someone somehow convinced Amestris that the Fuhrer was going to lead the country into another war that would end in a lot of people getting killed. It seems people weren't fond of the Ishval Massacre."
"Ishval Massacre?" Cody asked.
"We'll explain later when Colonel Bastard isn't here." Ed said, just then Roy walked in.
"That's General Bastard to you, Fullmetal."
Ed, having had his back turned to the door, leaped nearly ten feet in the air before spinning around and glaring at the man, "Don't scare me like that!"
Roy smirked. "So, rumor's true that you've returned from the other side of the gate." He looked at the Earthians(1), "Who are these people?"
Ed pinched the bridge of his nose. "They're people from.. the other side of the gate."
Roy paused a moment before speaking, "Well, since they have nowhere else to stay, I, as you Commanding Officer, order you to keep watch on these foreigners." With that final word, he left the room.
Ed looked at them, "Looks like you'll be rooming with us tonight."
Winry piped up, "Let's buy you guys some new clothes first so you won't be wearing hte same things all the time." The automail junkie smiled cheerfully, "I'll help Bailey, Ed, Al, help the twins!" And without further conversation, Winry took Bailey's wrist and ran from the room and to the nearest clothing store.
"So what's the standard for clothes here?" Bailey asked as they entered the store.
"Most people only have about five different outfits that they mix and match. We don't buy outfits for everyday of the year like London. Most people wear the same thing for a few days. The fabric doesn't get very dirty, so it's not all that unsanitary." Winry explained.
"I see. Oh, this is cute!" Bailey said, pulling a skirt from the rack they were brousing through.
Winry looked at it for a moment before nodding, "Looks nice, let's find some other items before you try that on."
So, at the end of the little shopping trip, Bailey had bought a denim skirt, two pairs of jeans, a tank top, a coat, a white sundress with blue flowers, two t-shirts, and a pair of shorts. Winry hooked arms with Bailey and headed for the hotel Al had rented out for the group.
Just like the Cody we know and love, as soon as they got to their rooms he went right to work in studying the world's Alchemy and History so he could answer every uneeded question there is. Ed and Al ended up sucked into Alchemy books, while Zack decided to take a nap and get away from a 'bunch of nerds'. Winry and Bailey were having a girl's night out in town, so they didn't get home until later. Al was quizzing Cody on the history of Amestris when they came in.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Winry asked, sitting her shopping bags full of automail parts and tools down on the floor to the side of the door.
Al smiled, "Cody's very observant when it comes to history and alchemy. He even managed to perform some basic alchemy." There was a very badly done... whatever it was made from wood sitting on the coffee table. He looked at it and sweatdropped, "He still needs to work on it some."
Zack had awaken and walked over, "I wanna learn how to do alchemy too! I wanna be able to pull some awesome pranks with it!" He grinned mischeviously.
Winry thwacked him with a wrench, "You better not!" She yelled. She looked at Ed who was just watching everything, "Ed, I want to tune up your automail and make sure everything's okay with it." She said. Ed nodded as Winry walked into the bedroom of the cabin and walked out with the big long toolbox she always carried around. She sat it down and unfolded the portable table Ed layed down on while she worked on the arm. Ed removed his shirt and climped on it, chest to the ceiling because of the position of the part that extended for him to sit his arm on. Winry put on a set of goggles and took out a screwdriver from the bags she walked in with and got right to work.
Everyone but Al watched in awe of either Ed's scars, abs, or how weird it was to see Ed at the mercy of this girl who could kill them with a wrench if she wanted to. Winry quickly finished the arm up and Ed pulled his shirt back on, and since he was wearing shorts, he didn't need to take them off and Winry got to work on his leg.
Meanwhile, on a hill looking over Central a figure stood watching the city with a nostalgic look. "Well, Roy, it looks like we'll meet again."
