A month had passed and I didn't know anything about Danny.
I still felt hope running through my heart. Every morning I would wake up and pray to God, that maybe, just maybe, my Danny could be alive.
But, as time passed by and by, I started to feel broken.
Nobody believed me. I told them all that Danny was Alive. He had to be alive.
He had to.
Danny wouldn't leave me.
He was a fighter.
He would fight for what he loved.
He would fight for his life because…. he loved me.
I was sitting on my bed, watching as the morning passed by.
I rested my head on the white pillow and sighed.
My eyes were hurting. There was not a day in which I wouldn't cry.
"My Danny." I murmured against the soft white pillow.
Tears were chocking me and I had to stand up.
I walked around the room and sighed as I heard a knock on the door.
"Sandra? Are you okay?" I wondered as I opened the door.
"Eve." She cried. "I had a dream." Blue tears smeared her early morning make-up.
I sighed and let her in my room.
"You mean a nightmare? I don't think that a 'dream' would make you cry." I commented.
She sobbed quietly and sat on the bed.
"What's wrong? Honey? Talk to me." I stated and she breathed in multiple times.
Then, she spoke.
"You know how hard Danny's death has been for us. For you. For me. For Rafe. We miss him." She exclaimed and I closed my eyes.
There was a knot in my throat.
"No. Danny's not dead. I refuse to believe so." I said and stood up from the bed.
She grabbed my hand and gently pulled me back down.
"Well, last night I had a dream that Rafe was dead. You know how horrible he's been feeling. Danny's death is haunting him. He's not the same. He's hurting." Sandra said and I shook my head.
"I understand. I know what he's going through." A sob escaped my throat.
"I just wish that everything would go back to normal." She said.
"Me too." I agreed.
"I know that there has been an investigation. They are looking for the pilots' dead bodies. They have been bringing the bodies home, and we both know that they haven't found Danny dead. But the possibility of him being alive is small. I just don't know what to think anymore." Sandra said and I cried.
"I just wish that he would show up at my door right now." I said and Sandra whimpered.
"That only happens in movies. This is real life, and life is cruel." She said and I shook my head.
There was another knock on the door and I stood up
Before me stood Danny and my heart froze.
My knees gave out and I collapsed on the floor.
I could heat Sandra screaming.
"A ghost! A ghost!" She said.
However, Danny, or Danny's ghost didn't move.
He stared at me lovingly and Sandra stood up from the bed.
"Da….Da….Danny." She stuttered.
"Evelyn." Danny said and ignored Sandra's shocked face.
"Da….Da….Da…." I couldn't get myself to pronounce his name.
"You're alive." Sandra screamed and collapsed to the floor.
"You're alive." I whispered and a loud sob escaped my throat.
How had he gotten there?
How was it possible that he was alive?
How did it all happen?
To be honest, I didn't know.
But, what I knew was this: My heart was jumping.
He kneeled down to the ground and pulled me back up.
I stared at him with weary eyes. I felt like I was about to faint.
"I'm alive." He whispered softly and brushed away a strand of my hair. He tucked it behind my ear and kissed my forehead.
"I knew you were alive." I said and he smiled.
"I know." He smiled and in that moment Rafe walked into the room.
"I always kept hope." I said and giggled as Rafe fainted.
"I love you." Danny said and I closed my eyes.
"This is surreal. Please tell me it's not a dream." I cried.
"It's real. I'm alive. I'm here. I love you. I'm never leaving you again. Never." He stated matter-of-factly.
My knees wobbled and I sighed.
We both stared at Sandra and at Rafe, both had fainted and were now on the floor.
"We have to do something about those two. They're not going to believe that you're alive. They'll think that you're a ghost or something." I giggled against his chest.
"Oh, we have all the time in the world to prove to them that I'm the real Danny. Don't you worry your little pretty head. Sweet thing, don't you worry." He kissed me and my knees finally gave out.
