I have to say, Saturday was always my favorite time of the week. I loved the haze of restfulness that crept over my body, my secure, heavy warm doona encasing me within a supportive cocoon as I rolled my arms and stretched them underneath my pillow, snuggling my cheek into the cushioniness and letting out a soft whimper of contentment.

I loved being able to sleep in after a long five days of getting up early to go to school. Now I could relax, now I could stay within this void and sleep until two pm if it was my heart's desire. I could lounge around in my pajamas all day long and there was no one who could ruin it for me. It was just another quiet, simple day of doing nothing, those were the days I loved.

Admittedly, by nature, I loved to play, when I wasn't lazing, I was playing, adventuring, creating amazing memories and stories with my time, outside in the wilderness, climbing trees, exploring storm drains and abandoned buildings, memorizing the park and playing with my dog, Pixie, who I'd had for two months now, curled up at the end of my bed sound asleep, I could hear his breathing rolling off of the cotton of my doona cover through my half-state of sleep.

Everything was peaceful and the warm gold light of the morning crept shamelessly through the gaps in my bright multi-colored blinds and drew wiry patterns across my bed and light carpet as I clutched my sensually soft zebra plushie close within my arms.

I was drinking in the silence so satisfyingly when suddenly my door opened blatantly and I heard the soft footsteps of a figure slipping into my room. My sleep fled me and I slowly, quietly opened my eyes…

'Hey Thee!' I screamed and flung myself backwards in attempt to dodge the flying arms outstretched towards me in reflex, but I wasn't fast enough, I was quickly swept up into a tight embrace and I was immediately greeted with the smell of sweet English roses, white tea and raspberry and I recognized it as Faye's signature scent, my older sister and relaxed enough to hear her murmuring in her silky innocent voice, 'Happy Birthday Thee!'

Oh yeah, today was my birthday, March 4th, I was now officially fifteen. I made myself smile, even though it was a common fact that waking me up resulted in my being crabby and sluggish all morning. 'What time is it?' I wondered aloud as I looked up to meet my sister's face.

Her features were delicate, with a thin, upturned nose, a round-ish shaped face with no excess flesh whatsoever and high set cheekbones that supported her wide round, swirling rose eyes with light pink pupils and snow white eyelashes. Her jawline was smooth and her neck slender, her lips were full, plump and shimmery in a natural broody pout and her naturally light cream blond hair cascaded in thin, unbrushed wires around her. There was no doubt about it, Faye was one of the most beautiful people I knew, not normal beautiful, not identical to someone you would think beautiful, not the beauty society depicted. No, the beauty of a rare, cherished gem, a subtle treasure that might seem unassuming at first.

But why couldn't she see it too? 'It's eight,' she responded, rubbing her nose against mine to convey her excitement, 'You're growing up so fast.'

'You couldn't have waited another hour…?' I responded gluggily, but nevertheless I returned the hug gratefully as Faye only beamed, the smile lighting up her already porcelain pale skin. I loved Faye for that, her eagerness to be the best sister she could be for me, it made me feel special and loved and I couldn't live without that sense of being pampered and adored in that way.

'I thought you'd want your present ASAP.' She thoughtfully responded.

I mustered a wholehearted grin, 'You sure know how to lighten the mood Faye I'll give you that.'

'It's a gift,' she giggled and bounced back to give me some space and jumped to her feet, dancing around the excited and now very awake Pixie who was grinning and panting, his little tail wagging. She found my drawers and started rummaging through them, throwing clothes she deemed fit my way mercilessly and I pouted as a pair of jeans flew and clung to my face as Faye explained; 'Well I figured, when was the last time we went on vacation? My friend Yugi just got back from his three month tour and he and his girlfriend and some of his friends are going to Gundagai island now that the ferries are fixed to KaibaFalls and I thought, hey, since Seto Kaiba himself will be there and I thought maybe we could…'

My eyes widened considerably, 'Let me make sure I'm hearing this right… We're going to KaibaFalls? On Gundagai island?' I stared at her incredulously, disbelievingly, I was waiting for her to point, laugh and declare she was pranking me. But she only cast me a smile over her shoulder.

'I've heard the biggest chain of Kaibaland so far's grand opening is in a week there, so we can relax on the island for awhile and enjoy the escape from reality for awhile.'

'You're serious? But Faye, since when do we go on vacations? To such an expensive tourist attraction as Gundagai? To the most expensive theme park in existence? Where's the money for all this?' Despite my pessimistic questions I shot like my mouth were a sniper rifle, there was a growing sense of glee and excitement boiling in my tummy and I could feel the light on my skin as a smile started to show itself on my mouth.

'Well, Gramps, Grams and I all started a piggy bank and well… What better to spend my hardships on then my amazing little angel?' Her eyes were warm and her beautiful lips curled at the tips as she sat beside me, starting to make matches with the tops and bottoms that lay in a failed fireworks show all over my bed in that sober, mysterious way she did things. I knew since Faye graduated school two months ago she'd been going crazy on multiple common jobs, she worked as a waitress on weekdays while I was at school, a dog walker on weekends and a babysitter in between. She was always so tired I was glad to see her so excited and zesty today.

I stared stupidly, a silence slithering around the two of us as Faye watched me, waiting to see what I thought of her thoughtful present, I could see hesitant in her eyes, like she was seeking approval and was having second thoughts upon her choice. I gave her an indifferent stare, then suddenly launched myself forward without warning, arms outstretched her direction.

'Faye!' I cried as I hit home, my arms locking around her neck as my weight sent us both plummeting off the side of the bed, 'You're my greatest, most amazing, absolutely magnificent favorite sister ever!'

'I'd hope so,' she laughed from between the floor and me, I felt the shiver of her delicate body as she struggled to breathe out the next part; 'I'm your only sister.'

'I love you!' I murmured as I pulled back, I could practically feel the sparkle in my eyes as I let her go and rolled off of her, finishing in a half kneeling, half sitting position on the floorboards beside her as she sat up, twisting my direction to smile wholeheartedly,

'I'm glad the feeling's mutual.' She swiped the butter cream crochet beret falling off her head out of her eyes and back into place with her hand and I analyzed her clothes. She was wearing a light, thin sweater snug on her skin white with soft floral pink patterns and a high-waisted pink elastic-banded, ridged, almost coral-colored soft skirt that cut off a third up her thighs and cream-white legging wool socks with sweet innocent brown school-girl shoes. It really suited her, pastel colors were definitely complimentary of her fair, fine features.

I never really had it in me to be fashionable, I just wore what made me feel comfortable, I couldn't stand constricting clothing like pencil skirts that handicapped your leg movement or painful shoes that made walking almost impossible, even thick tight cloaks that cut off my arm movement made me feel uncomfortable. 'What say we go have breakfast first then we'll pack for the trip,' she smiled warmly as I didn't even attempt to restrain my grin,

'Sounds like a plan!'

'Righto, get changed honey ,' she instructed warmly, gesturing to the matches she'd made on my bed with a mystical sweeping movement before swirling from the room, the door closing quietly behind her.

I looked at what lay before me. I spotted my favorite lilac shirt among it and my usual tight denim shorts. If I could have a favorite item of clothing, it was tight, short denim shorts. Even when I got older I knew low cut tops or miniskirts or stilettos weren't going to be my thing, it will be tiny shorts if I wanted to show off. Not that I was a show-offie kind of person with my body or anything.

I picked up a pair of gray short shorts much baggier than my denim shorts and they weren't hipster like the denim ones either with a violet tie cord around the waist. Faye had matched it with a violet singlet top that had a picture of a yellow and tan-colored chibi monkey on the front and a navy blue, baggy hooded jumper top to go over it. It was simple and casual, my style.

I quickly unbuttoned my pajamas and dropped them on my covers to adorn these new garments and tied my hair up into a loose plait while I pulled on some socks and my gray and yellow sneakers and pottered out to the bathroom to splash my face with water to wake myself up. As I walked down the hallway, feeling the slight stiffness on my feet of the new carpet we'd bought laid recently as I shuffled along through my shoes.

I smiled as my gaze lifted to the paintings on the feature wall, some almost cramped close together there were so many. They were mesmerizing, all of them, glossy acrylics and somber water colors cradled lovingly within speckled brass, antique-themed frames all lined up on the colorless plaster wall. I knew the names of them all, even Gramps' newest he painted this year.

The Lake of Lost Souls: A painting of a gossamer, glittering silvery lake scattered with moonstones at the shorelines where a single male form stood, a tall, cloaked man with captivatingly blue hair that swirled in short strands around his face, framing his inhuman, liquid mercury eyes as he stared with a look of question into the heart of the lake, his face shadowed by a strange tree with a black trunk, butterscotch goo drizzled down the ridges in the bark and the leaves drooped in heavy shades of russet, bringing out an eerie hue in his gaze. In the distance you could see this was the foot of a mountain covered in these trees and there was a silvery-gold halo in the sky like a hollow sun and the sky was cast in a wispy fog.

In my looking I'd stopped walking, and I swiftly looked down when something soft and furry brushed my legs and I caught the lively grunting sound Pixie made as a greeting to me as he pitter-pattered to my side and plumped down onto his doggy behind, tail wagging as he sicked his brown watery eyes on me, tongue spilling in a pink flap from his slender snout. I smiled, and let myself down beside him to rest my hand on his silky head, 'Morning Pixie.' I stroked with the direction of his fur down his back as he panted delightedly.

I jumped when I heard a cooing call, 'Pixie! Here boy!' and obediently Pixie sprung to his feet hyper actively and whirled around, running on his short legs towards the kitchen where Faye's voice had come from, assuming he was going to be fed Pixie would come running any day and I shook my head. Fitting my hands into the pouch pocket of my jumper I strolled out to the kitchen myself to brave what awaited me.

I'd asked Faye not to decorate the house, after all streamers would make Pixie sick if he ate them and balloons popping scared the living daylights out of the poor bugger, and with such an amazing birthday gift I didn't expect anything more from Faye. As I stepped into the kitchen doorway I picked up the scent of salt, onion, carrot and potato and my mouth started watering.

I didn't expect Ryou to be standing in the kitchen beside Faye, close to her as she held up a wooden spoon with soup in it for him to try, quizzing him in a shy, but bubbly tone; 'Grams' family recipe, good?' But I have to admit, I shouldn't have been surprised, they'd been together since last Christmas and they really were adorable and I just loved being around Ryou, he had such a warm, welcoming, agreeable nature that I had grown used to being around here.

'Mmm,' Ryou closed his eyes as his lips closed around the spoon and a happy rosy color adorned his cheeks as he complimented, 'It's delicious.'

'It's Thistle's favorite savory-wise,' She chirped, neither of them had realized I was standing in the doorway, I was happy with watching them. They were completely harmonious, one of Faye's hands was resting on the counter, and Ryou's fingers had automatically rushed to entwine with hers, they couldn't get enough affection from each other, it was what they'd both craved for so long.

My grin stretched from ear to ear, I knew I'd recognized that scent, Yellow Split Pea and Smoked Bacon Rib Soup. Or as we shortened it, Pea and Ham Soup. Normally this was a dinner thing, but I wasn't complaining!

'Well hey there Ryou!' I trotted in with a new brisk attitude to my walk and made my presence known positively, both of their expressions visibly brightened at seeing me and Ryou's puppy-dog brown eyes fixated on me as he responded,

'Hey yourself, happy birthday.'

'Why thank you,' I flushed cheerfully as I gazed upon the big silver pot simmering on the stove top that would contain breakfast and Faye smiled, there was a slight, humble smugness in her expression, if that was possible, Faye could pull it off.

There was something about Ryou, he was different from other guys, he had a gentle touch, his hands were soft, not strong like any other man, in no ways threatening, I think that's what drew Faye in, she was so timid and frightful by nature, she needed his gentle nature to really allow herself to trust him. No one knew Faye better than I did.

'I got you something,' Ryou murmured, pulling a little something out of his pocket, 'it's not much, but it's sentimental, it was something of my sister's.' And my eyes widened as I looked upon the small charm bracelet glowing dully silver. Faye had told me about Amane, Ryou's younger sister, a car crash had taken her…

'Oh Ryou I couldn't-…' I shook my head, 'This must be important to you, I wouldn't want to-'

'It's OK, really,' his smile was genuine as he scooped my wrist up in it and started to do up the clasp, 'I want you to have it. There's a charm from both me and Faye, so you'll always remember how much we love you.' And my curiosity got the better of me, I looked down to find these two charms. The first I knew was from Faye, a small white flower that felt smooth and cold under my fingertip and Ryou's was a tiny little metallic dragon with purple and gold glitter adorning it's jagged scales.

I didn't know what to say, I never did when I got given things, I was always more inclined to give than to take and now… 'Thank you… Both of you.' I looked at them both and smiled, 'Really, I mean it, it's perfect.'

I looked over my shoulder, hoping it would still be there so I could run back to it and somehow get control and get out. But the boat was already at least twenty feet out, drifting and flowing over the deep blue rolling rifts of ocean water, back towards that stretch in the distance where the skyscrapers of Domino City awaited them, where society awaited.

Instead I focused on ahead of me in a slow motion, turning my aching feet through the sand of the beach, soaking in the silence, I'd been getting too much lately, silence that is. As I surveyed everything, how the sand was brown and not nearly as appealing up close as it had been from the boat, the concrete steps that symbolized the doorway into the darkness, the doorway to Corrikai city. What once was a vibrant lively city was cast in isolated shade, old wet newspapers stuck to the ground, windows were broken and garbage bins overflowing and tipping over.

There was this hollow despair resting upon the rooftops of the concrete buildings. I stared quietly, so this was my new home? Numbly I rubbed my red raw wrists, happy that the chains restraining me were finally gone, but how, did I end up stuck on a secluded island tucked away from society?

That's right. I started to step forward, my bare feet stinging as sand forced itself into the sensitive cuts and tears in the scabbed skin. One word echoing through my lonesome mind as I made towards the gray hardness that would welcome me quietly.

Rafayela…

There were run down old abandoned cars on the streets, the paint faded and rusted and the windscreens covered in dirt or crackled from some sort of assault. Some were pulled to pieces, bonnets open and scrap metal loitering the roads in dark ebony, greasy pieces. My cool gaze slid around me as I strolled. This island had been known to receive insane weather, and the population evacuated after it was deemed unliveable, when earthquakes crushed buildings and dust storms caused horrid respiratory problems. This island has had it all, chuck in a volcano and I'd have been impressed.

Now there was no one here.

I heard the wind rip at a newspaper stuck on a dented streetlight as I peered into a convenience store, I would have thought someone who packed up years ago wouldn't still have stock in there… I crept closer, my blackened feet scraping on the concrete, ripping dry flesh from my heels as I stepped up the gutter onto the footpath and stepped on a shard of glass.

The dull throb woke me from my dead tired state as I lifted my foot to gauge it out of my bleeding foot with my nails. The sound of the dripping glass hitting the concrete was like music to my ears as I leered upon the clear crystal-like element wallowing in the deep crimson puddle it had scored from my foot, gleaming in glee. I would find myself envying that shard soon…

I would make that girl pay for her meddling, she could have lived a life without my influence had she not butted in… I'll make her bleed, her blood will run through my hands and I will savour the warmth of her body, bring it out with my blade, suck her dry until she goes cold and the light leaves her eyes and she will beg for forgiveness before I destroy her…

I stepped through the broken glass window, regarding dry brown-clay bloodstains on the wall and touching it lightly with my nail-tips. I moved to the back of the store with a sluggish look I opened the freezers which were coughing, barely working at all and pulled out a bottle of tequila. Sombreros, some sort of Mexican bottle. I wondered how It got here, but I didn't care, I opened it and took a much-needed swig to still the shaking and the rigidness, to calm the need to kill something.

I slid into a bar stool by the counter and leaned my throbbing head on my wrist as a rush of dizziness burned through my head and the bottle slipped from my grip. When it shattered loud and heavy and sprayed me with the spirit I jumped to my feet, looking around restlessly and stumbling towards the way out, I had to get out of here, I needed a place to reside quietly, a safe place.

I stepped on more glass as I clambered through the window and sliced my legs open straight through the rejected orange cloth of my old prison clothes. I thought it was my imagination when I suddenly heard a very loud rumbling sound like thunder in the distance. I looked towards the sound and then caught sight of a few flickering orbs of light from the end of the road, they came closer, the sound got louder until my common-sense kicked in and I knew they were bikes, Harley's… They were people.

I spun on my heels and started running along the pathway, but the alcohol warped and rippled the ground and manipulated my balance as I fell into a half crouch crumble on the ground, I snapped upright in time for the seven motorbikes to pull over all around me, some of them even jumped the gutter onto the path in front and behind me, sealing my ways out.

I turned to the glossiest bike as a form stomped off of the sleek piece of metal, strapped in black leather as he pulled off his black helmet so I could see his face. As I looked upon him, a small smile tugged on my lips as his gruff grunge brown hair framed his bright aquamarine eyes in bushy bangs and a scabby scar lined the left side of his angular, attractive face.

He couldn't be more than twenty-three. What was I afraid of? 'You seem a little lost there sugar,' his voice was light and slightly broody and I looked him in the eyes, 'Got a name?'

Instead of giving him a name, I answered: 'I'm not here by accident. I was prosecuted.' I didn't even attempt to control the arrogance that soaked my words and the cocky smirk on my smeared lips.

'Sugar it is then. Is that right?' His voice was disbelieving. 'Only the worst are sent here, didn't you know? There used to be a prison here. But one day the criminals rioted. The man in charge decided to let us roam the island, but you see, no one leaves the island once they're on it.'

'How did a pipsqueak like you get here then? What do you call yourself?'

'Hogscar.' His bright eyes gleamed, 'I'm going to enjoy watching you squirm along with all the others.' I watched him quietly as he turned away and fit his helmet back on.

'By the way, I run things here, and if you don't plan on paying, don't pick it up. Welcome to Corrikai Sugar.' He gunned his engine and swerved the lifeless creature called a motorbike around as it roared crudely and the engines of his crew kicked in and I watched him disappear the way he'd appeared almost like a ghost.

Slowly I opened my eyes to take in the scene around me, the darkened hallway that I stumbled forward through, the papers and blueprints under my boots as I grasped at my arm, regarding the deep tear in my shoulder and the thick blood staining my hand with a wince and moan as I leaned tiredly against the wall, my legs buckling as I breathed a sigh and slid down to the ground.

My heart beat in shuddering coughs in my chest. I was tired and worn, my skin grotty and shining with sweat and my hair stained with dried blood and clay, The rivulets of ammunition for a machine gun I'd used was still coiled around my shoulder weighing more and more with each passing second and my belt where I'd had land grenades was now empty and barren, heartbroken and lost, there was nothing left for me, my world was turned upside down and all I loved were gone, the world had come to the end of how we knew it. All was lost…

I was fading, where it had bitten me, I was changing, losing my humanity, losing my conscience… My control. I was starting to cave, to crave what they craved and become what they became… It was the end for me…

Then I heard a moaning growl and stiffened slightly, but I did not lift my head. Tired pants rasped from my throat as I strained my eyes to see out of the corner of my eye over my shoulder as a figure stood at the other end of the hallway. It's face and large square teeth were bathed in blood. His skin wrinkling and drooping off of it's bones and it's eyes hollow and rolled into it's skull and it slumped in awkward positions as it dragged itself towards me with a long, slow longing groan. One of my cleaving swords from my days working in the jungles of Africa protruded from between it's eyes… Slowly I pulled myself to my feet again, pushing off the wall with my good arm where I'd torn the sleeve off of my black sweater and faced the creature.

'You want more?' my voice was raspy and mentally exhausted, almost like I was forgetting how to talk, 'Killing her not enough for you bastards!' I reached over my shoulder grasping for the shotgun latched to my back slowly.-

'-Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand CUT!'

The facade drew to an end and I breathed a long sigh as the director gave me a thumbs up, 'Genius Atemu I don't know how you do it but I'm loving it! One more take.'

I glanced down at my watch as I darted over to where I'd put my water bottle and towel, it was hot and stuffy in here. As I aired out my shirt by shaking it with one hand I regarded the time, 'Sorry Darren, no can do, my brother's just got back from a tour and I promised I'd see him off to Gundagai with his friends and drop his cousin off to go too. I really have to get going.' I was three hours drive out from Domino to film this Zombie Apocalypse movie as the main character, I have to admit, acting for two movies at once was no easy feat. At least I was only in half of the shots in the Prince of Egypt and the deadline was not as close-called as this one was.

'Alright then. Give him my regards.' He seemed reluctant to let me go, but I'd warned him of this date and he was lucky I came at all today, I hoped Yugi wouldn't mind me running a little late. I hoped I wouldn't miss him and Karin completely. I pulled out my 2011 phone and chugged at my water bottle while I dialed Karin's cell on the way out to my car.

It was looking sleek and spotless as always as I slid into the drivers seat, fitting the bottle into the drink-holder and shutting the door behind me as she finally answered with a;

'Karin Mutou at your service!'

'Hey Karin it's Atem, are you all packed?' I fit the keys into the ignition and turned the key, the purr of the engine coming to life calmed me as I heard her knowing answer;

'Yes, yes and yes! Got my bags all full of awesome and I'm ready to go! Just waiting for you to remember about me cousin!' I could hear the twang of excitement in her voice, 'But hey, if you've been caught up with being a movie star and all, why couldn't Yami pick me up instead?' She wondered aloud expecting me to have an answer for her. Honestly his name bought a silent vice around my torso at the pain.

He'd been in a coma for the last two months, I've been losing more and more hope with each passing day, there was barely an inkling left, and I hadn't told Karin, or Yugi… 'He's even busier than I am, what he's doing is more important.'

'Why hasn't he called then?'

'He's sent emails.'

'It just seems odd is all, I mean, this is Yami, taking off when Yugi's finally getting his life together and all… You should call and check up on him sometime Atemu, I have a funny feeling.'

'I will. See you soon Karin.' It was getting harder and harder to lie to them too. The fact that the lies flowed freely from my tongue ripped at my morality and slowly tempted me towards inner instability, I didn't know if what I was doing was right or wrong anymore… I focused on pulling the car out of the parking lot and onto the roads.

I had not hung up the phone for more than three minutes before it started buzzing again and I grabbed it up with one hand; 'Hello?' I peered at someone driving beside me as they stared at me in horror.

'Hey Atemu, how's work going?' I laughed softly as I regarded the make believe blood that had oozed down my sooty arm, in fact I must have looked like a right off… The sound of that familiar voice from the phone lifted me from my cape of despair and I found myself even smiling towards the phone, I softened my tone towards her.

'Fine. Work's fine Letia. I'm just dropping my cousin and Yugi off at the docks.'

'So you'll be back in Domino for today?' I could hear the hopeful edge in her tone, her attempt to disguise it was futile and I couldn't help but sigh as I responded with a ginger:

'Yes. I'll drop by when I get the chance.' And as always, she knew something was up and knew just what to ask when she questioned,

'How's Yami…?' And knowing she was one of the only ones who knew, the only one I could talk to without upsetting on this topic I explained,

'Just nothing, no news, no anything. I've still been receiving talks from doctors and forms pressed my way to turn off the life support… I'm starting to consider the fact that he might-' I bit my lip and glanced in the rear-view mirror, '-he might not wake up…'

'Have hope Atemu, if he's anything like you than he's strong enough to pull through this… You just have to believe it alright?'

'Alright.'

'I love you.'

'You too.' I hung up the phone and put it down sharply, bringing both of my hands tighter around the steering wheel, offering a smile to neighbor driver.

'Where was I when the rockets came to life?

And carried you away

Into the Alligator sky

Even though I'll never know what's up ahead

I'm never lettin' go

I'm never lettin' go!'

I rested one hand on the headphones holding my wild hair down as I closed my eyes. Here I was, in my studio. Where I could record all my works like a professional singer, back from touring just like a professional singer, a joyous feeling taking over me as I swayed side to side with the music I'd written.

'Remember to breathe 'cause it'll take your breath away

When the engines cough

And you blast off

Ignite the night with a fire cracker flash!'

I really loved this, it was something I could easily spend my life doing, in my cosy studio with only my close friends and manager here to hear me. The touring was great granted, but stage fright was something horrible, no matter how many times I stepped onto that stage, whether it be tall, small, crowded or simple this cold, icy feeling of fear always gripped me too tightly for my liking, I just lacked the confidence to achieve the state most singers could, where they could go on stage and just play.

I had played to the best of my ability, and I could see people liked it and I was already on youtube. But I was still iffy about my talent.

'Remember to live 'cause you're gonna be thrilled to death

When the stars collide

And your eyes grow wide

Take it in with your breath against the glass!'

I opened one purple eye to peek through the glass to the people sitting there.

'Remember to dream 'cause it's gonna be a starry night

Over every town

As you look down

So harmonize with the singing satellites!'

I grinned as I rounded it up to the last verse before the chorus, I'd spent extra time on this single and while to some it may make no sense, to me it represented a lot of things, my eyes met with the beautiful girl sitting with a dreamy expression on her face on the stool to the left through the glass, her sparkling blue eyes and frocks of curly golden locks caressing her freckled cheeks as her lashes fluttered and she tipped her head side to side with the beat.

'And remember to scream 'cause you're gonna be lost for words

When the sparks erupt

And they light you up

Dip your toes in the galaxy 'cause it's yours to explore tonight!'

I lowered my voice ever so slightly, changing the tone from excited exclamations to soothing coo's for the chorus. Somehow without losing the energetic feel of the music.

'Where was I when the rockets came to life?

And carried you away

Into the Alligator sky

Even though I'll never know what's up ahead

I'm never lettin' go

I'm never lettin' go!'

I winked to Jenna when she opened her eyes and she laughed, even though I couldn't hear her.

'Roller coaster through the atmosphere

I'm drowning in this starry ceremony

Ecstasy becomes cavalier

My imagination's taking me away

Reverie whisper in my ear

I'm scared to death but I'll never be afraid

Roller coaster through the atmosphere!

My imagination's taking me away! '

I built up back to the excitable, louder notes with a nod with the beat.

'Let's hear it for the universe

Were it never hurts

Dive in head-first

Take a taste of the melting Milky Way!

And remember to laugh 'cause you're living in a crazy world

Where you'd never guess

What'll happen next

Give the outer limits my regards

As you float to fly away!'

Back around to the chorus!

'Where was I when the rockets came to life?

And carried you away

Into the Alligator sky

Even though I'll never know what's up ahead

I'm never lettin' go

I'm never lettin' go!'

There was a calculated, hesitant pause in the music, and I jumped back when they thought the song was over;

'Where was I when the rockets came to life?

And carried you away

Into the Alligator sky!

Even though I'll never know what's up ahead

I'm never lettin' go

I'm never lettin' go!'

I smiled as my voice in the backing track echoed behind me as I whispered;

'The alligator sky…

The alligator sky…

The alligator sky.'
