This Chapter is written in Ryou, Karin & Leena's POV (point of View)
I think I'm getting back on a roll with this fic again thank goodness. This is a nice fluffeh chapter for everyone (God we're gonna need it XD HINT HINT)
Disclaimer: I do not OWN Yu Gi Oh, any of it's characters or Adam Young's (Owl City's), LIGHT's or any of the music! This is purely FANMADE! I also don't own a majority of the OC's in this fanfiction! I own Faye though...
'What else do you think I need Doris?' I checked my watch in a fleeting, singular movement, I had about seven minutes to sum everything up and get outside to wait for Sabah to pick me up to give me a ride to the dock with Faye and Thistle. I smiled to myself, I couldn't really recall the last time I'd been this excited, and Faye… Who would have thought a girl whose tears signed nearly every memory I had of her could bring us together like this, to organise a vacation to the famous Gundagai island not to mention Kaibaland and who knows what else she had in store in-between, she was certainly full of surprises.
Doris hopped along my bed, nose twitching and head drifting from side to side in sharp movements to take in everything around her as I slid my hands underneath her angora soft fur to lift her up to find her cage, Faye's grandmother, Sabah, was even kind enough to look after Doris for me, promising me she'd keep her separate from the pythons of course, that kind old lady just loved animals to death, I had nothing to worry about in regards to Doris's well-being in her darkened hands.
I'd never been on vacation before, surprisingly neither had Faye or Thistle, so this was going to be new for us, thankfully we'd invited along people who had, like Yugi, and Jenna and Yugi's cousin; Karin, it was going to be fun, I knew it was. I lowered the well-fed rabbit into her portable cage and opened my suitcase to check I had a good few pairs of clothes for different occasions, including pajamas and swimming trunks, you know, just in case among other things like a toothbrush, hair brush, hair dryer and the works, wet hair in the evening always gets me a cold in the morning, and I didn't want anything to put a damper on this trip.
I could barely contain my glee when I heard a knock at the front door and a call towards me as I rezipped the suitcase; 'Ryou! Door!'
'Just a minute!' I called back as I heaved the suitcase onto the ground, it fell with a thump that I could barely contain, it was heavier than I thought it would be, I mean, there wasn't bricks in there or anything… I tried to lift it again, it got a few inches off of the ground before I gave up and dropped it again with a sigh. Then I heard snickering coming from the doorway and cast Florence a sour look, 'Oh, don't laugh at me!'
He continued to chuckle, it rumbled through his form, his arms crossed and one foot propped up on the wall as he jerked his head to flip the white, thick bangs out of his cold brown eyes as he straightened up from the wall and strode forward, I stepped away as his lean hand took the handle of the luggage and lifted it to a good height no sweat and my face fell. It was bad enough I wasn't the strongest guy out there, but it made it even worse that both my older brothers just happened to be body builders and fit as they come…
I moved sulkily out of the way as Florence strode past smugly to take the suit case outside to where Sabah's colourful pink, yellow, green and purple hippy-splash styled little van was awaiting my appearance. I snatched up the second bag, an over shoulder one that was nowhere near as heavy that I could handle and then Doris's cage in my free hand, 'Now you're going to stay with Grandma Sabah for awhile Doris,' I said to her dark, glistening black eyes as those whiskers twitched and she munched on some dried out grass quietly.
The weather was great too, the snow was positively gone and the hot, crisp air of spring was settling in as I was granted the sight of her delicate form as she vacated the car to offer me a hand. She looked beautiful, dressed in pastel colours and looking like a subtle star, if that was possible as she leaned forward, her hands on her knees to glance at Doris, 'You're looking well, he's taken good care of you, yes he has,' and then she turned to me, her hot pink eyes sparkling as she asked in a quieter, sweeter voice;
'Are you excited?'
'Yes, very,' I smiled as Florence helped himself to throwing the suitcase in the back of the car and I followed up with my bag, only not quite as obnoxiously as he did. He glanced at me;
'Don't get yourself killed.' And that was his goodbye, with that said, hands in his pockets he walked himself back to the house, the weight left my arm as Faye slid the cage from my hand and then through the window of the shotgun seat, asking; 'Hey Thee, can you hold this while we get in?'
'No problem,' The newly fifteen-year-old happily took the cage, her lilac eyes scanning Doris as the rabbit docilely kept eating like nothing was abnormal at all. Before she could get the passenger seat door I took Faye's hand in mine to give her a little tug and surprised her with a soft, light kiss to her fair, lovely cheek;
'You are so sweet you know, all this you're doing for Thee,' I murmured, blushing at her wide eyes and looking away as she answered in a whispered tone;
'Oh, well, yeah. I just wanted to give her something special this year that's all…'
'Well I know she appreciates it already,' I opened the car door and gestured, 'Ladies first.'
She smiled shyly and her hand brushed my shoulder deliberately as she slipped into the car. Thistle's excitement was contagious and her quirky conversations were enough to lift anyone from a bad mood. The drive was completely taken up by our conversations, my telling Sabah that Doris's favorite food was strawberry and broccoli, Thistle's constant thanking Faye for making this all possible, my whispered conversations with Faye. I was extremely comfortable with Faye and I being the only ones in the passenger seats and she leaned against me, the skin of her fingers so soft between mine as I played with her vanilla blond hair between my free hand in between these conversations.
This day was just so… right, I didn't have a care in the world, and it was just beginning, things had been right since Faye now, her exquisitely creamy complexion, her light hair, her burning eyes, everything about her was safe and sweet, she wasn't hyperactive like Thistle, she was calm and serene, she was so easy to trust, and it felt good to have her so close, it had been so long since someone had wanted to be close to me, in fact, I don't think I'd ever had a girl be interested in me, and in turn, I suppose I'd learned to expect not to get roped up in fantasies of having a girl in my life for I was sure it would surely end in rejection and heart break. But I wasn't afraid of this with her, I wasn't afraid of anything. She was just… right for my situation, right for my vulnerable mind frame and for my lack of being able to tell a fraud from a friend.
I watched her lips form the words she exchanged with her beloved little sister and the way her ivory lashes fluttered and her cheeks grew tickled pink completely mesmerized like a child with a crush. I could've watched forever until she sensed me doing so and gave me a questioning look insecurely,
'What's wrong? Is there something on my face?' Her quiet, melodically smooth voice questioned me as she lifted a hand to trail it through the tresses of her hair that refused to sit where she wanted them to. I shook my head,
'No, just thinking about how lucky I am.'
'...That you got a free rabbit?' She tilted her head slightly and I found myself giggling at the conclusion she'd come to, silly Faye…
'No,'- I beamed at her- 'For this, for us, I wanted to thank you, all of you, for including me…'
Thistle twisted obligingly in her seat, her small hands grasping the seat, Doris's cage safety in the foot-space as she grinned over the dark ashy woolen seat covers and chirped, 'We're all happy to have you here Ryou, you don't need to thank us.'
I could see Sabah's head movements from the driver's seat, her silvery white hair in a loose bun that bobbed with her and it wasn't too hard to guess that she was nodding in agreement and Faye's hand in mind gave my palm a loving squeeze, 'Thee's right Ryou, we wouldn't have it any other way,' her eyes closed so she could offer a smile that drowned me with these warm, fuzzy childish feelings.
I looked out the window and I could feel the gleam in my eyes coming from deep within as I leaned forward and pointed out; 'Look Thee there's the harbor! See our boat?'
It was true too, to the side, past some buildings below this highway there was the lovely stretch of deep blue ocean iced with gossamer sheets of rippling white reflections of the sky and there were lovely, huge, gleaming white boats in the dock floating impressively just waiting for us, decorated in blue stripes and the name of the ships labeled on fancy scripts, normally, I wouldn't have the money to stand at the dock of a boat this luxurious. And Thistle sure was impressed too, she was practically laying across Sabah's lap to see it for her own lavender sheened eyes.
'Wow! Faye those are big boats! Are we really going on one of those!'
Faye humbly chimed; 'Yes, our boat is called the Jennifer Rose, look out for it.' and Thistle was keen to engage in this game of 'Spot our Boat.' 'Faye, this is amazing, I can't believe you would…' She trailed off and then shot Faye a grin, 'Just wait until I get a job for your birthday is all I can say!' and she poked out her tongue and winked one of those large round eyes and I laughed along with Faye.
It was the best of Yugi, it was the worst of Yugi…
'Karin what are you doing? Why are you pointing your phone at me?'
This was going to get heaps of comments on my forum… I should make a poll on it, what would I title it? Does this shot make his hair look like a sea urchin or a starfish? I could just smell the threads.
'Are you taking pictures of me? Karin!' I protested as he snagged my phone from me and reached with grabby hands for it back relentlessly,
'Hey! Mine!' Was all I had to say for myself as Yugi darted behind the blond, curly-haired form of his pretty girlfriend Jenna, I followed skidding across the cement to get around her as her blue eyes watched us dance around her looking perfectly ridiculous, a playful smile on her freckled face as she giggled. Yugi was pressing buttons on the phone and I knew tragically he was deleting those lovely photos I had captured, those amazing works of art, lost forever!
'Yugi! You buzzkill!' I growled when he handed it back to me empty of those treasured snapshots.
'My hand slipped, you know, like yours does with the camera button,' he chimed and Jenna was swift to occupy his hand with hers and smile along with him as I huffed at them and turned away childishly, hey, I was the youngest, what's your excuse? I glanced over at Atemu, who was leaning against his car awhile away waiting like the good parental figure for everyone else to arrive and probably hold our hands on the ramp onto the boat and plant sloppy kisses on our cheeks and make us promise not to talk to strangers. But he looked lost, his amethyst eyes were studying the sky lightly, like a teenager may study a book, skimming without processing, he was thinking about something else I could tell, and judging by the brooding, sombre frown on his face and the stern way his eyebrows tilted down it wasn't about a Teddy Bear's Picnic.
It was enough to make a family member wonder what was bothering him, I turned to his brother and asked, tilting my head in his general direction to highlight who I was talking about; 'What's up Atem's butt? He looks messed up about something...'
Yugi's great almond eyes blinked slowly at me, and then swerved to his older brother and frowned, 'I think he misses Yami, twins are supposed to have a spiritual bond, you know? And Yami being so far away… Guess it must be harder for him than us…' And I found that hard to believe, I could see clearly Yugi missed his other older brother, Jenna knew too, she lightly rubbed the sleeve of his jacket with her hand comfortingly and he gave her an assuring smile in return shyly, looking away to say; 'But this is our vacation, we have to be on happy notes! Ryou and Faye will be here soon and we'll get to meet the birthday girl, she's about the same age as you Karin.'
If he was trying to change the subject, he was doing one hell of a job, I grinned, 'Yay! A new person to corrupt!' I teased my fingertips against each other in a cliché villain fashion with an evil cackle and Jenna was laughing with me, Jenna and I had come to be really close since Yugi and her had become an Item, there was really nothing bad about this girl, besides the fact you might want to keep fragile valuables away, she tends to fall… a lot. Obsessively I glanced down at my digital watch with kunai knives as hands to see they were ten minutes late, we only had fifteen minutes more until it was time to board the boat. 'What's taking them?'
'Maybe they got caught in traffic?' Jenna suggested, the chilly wind tossing those corkscrew curls around her face as she attempted to restrain them with one of her small hands. Yugi's hair always looked extra special when the wind blew, those lemon blond bangs of his whipped like lashes of lightning and his fluffy, spiked black, purple bordered hair swished and brushed the air like a dry, ineffective paintbrush. Even Atem was looking uneasy as he frowned and I asked Yugi; 'What if they're late? Do we board the boat without them…?'
Yugi's expression became worried as he shook his head, 'Even if that were to happen, Faye has the tickets.'
My face fell and I panicked rather loudly; 'But at this rate we'll miss the boat! And then this vacation that I promised to tell all my friends at school about will have lasted a hearty half an hour and will go something like this: 'We went to a harbor, fed a bird and got some pictures deleted, the end!' What kind of story is that? I'll be the school joke! And not in a good way like it normally is!'
'Um, Karin?' Yugi attempted but I kept going, waving my arms;
'I mean seriously! If we miss this boat, I'm not going to be happy!' Jenna cut me off before I could continue like I had every intention of doing as she grasped my shoulders and turned me around hastily and pointed to a brightly-colored van that pulled over in the car park and I could already see Ryou vacating the car and pausing his routine to wave to us with one of his enviously pretty smiles, why was it that he was a guy, yet he was prettier than most of the girls I'd seen throughout my lifetime? It just wasn't fair…
I found myself floundering my way over to meet them, Yugi and Jenna followed my example and I chirped boisterously to Faye before she'd even fully gotten out of the car with a hand from Ryou; 'Well hello there Miss Tardy! Cutting it close much?' and Faye offered a lighthearted smile;
'Sorry Karin, things went slightly slower than I planned. Traffic and all.'
'Told ya so,' Jenna joked and the two of them exchanged polite greetings and then Yugi as I curiously leaned around Faye to catch sight of this younger sibling I'd been hearing so much about, she was helping Ryou, well, attempting to with some of the baggage. She had lustrous, long thick caramel-latte coloured hair heavy and reaching down to the small of her back at the middle. As I saw the side of her face I could note her eyes were a unique light lollipop lilac with this highlight of a sea-foam blue in certain lights, just like the reflection I'd seen on a marble collection Yugi and I used to play with when we were younger, before they got stolen from Yugi when bullying season came around. She was as light and delicate and exotic as her sister, with skin almost as pale, but much more peachy than Faye's, you wouldn't tell from first glance that she was albino, but at second or third it became more obvious.
Then she sensed me watching and those lavender eyes whirled to meet my milky jade ones and she twisted to face me better and take me in, and then shifted slightly in a shy fashion as Faye offered over her shoulder to her, 'Come meet my friends Thee. They're anxious to know who the birthday girl is.'
'Hi!' I waved to her and a tiny smile broke on her face before she could conceal it and she waved back and responded,
'Hello.' She shuffled over to Faye, clinging to her like a baby koala does it's mother as Faye introduced us with a sweep of her arm, 'Thee, this is Yugi, Jenna and Karin, Guys, this is Thistle, my little sister,' and gave her shoulder a comforting squeeze as I offered my hand;
'Hi Thistle, it's great to meet you. Happy Birthday! How old did you turn?'
She shook my hand and I couldn't help but notice how fragile her wrists seemed, but her handshake wasn't timid or gentle, it made me wonder how different from her sister Thistle really was, 'Fifteen, and likewise Karin.'
Jenna smiled brightly, 'Ah, so you're three years younger than Faye? That's cool, I don't have any younger siblings, but I do have an older brother.' And Thistle looked at her to converse casually;
'I've always wanted a brother, don't get me wrong I love Faye to death-'
Faye finished lightheartedly, 'I just don't really enjoy the idea of climbing trees and catching spiders,' and the conversations were like that for awhile, Faye and Yugi slipping away to help poor Ryou, who was struggling with all the bags they'd brought, one from Thistle, three from Faye (who probably had packed just-in-cases for Thistle as well) and two from himself. I glanced over at our bags in a neat pile that Jenna stood by loyally like a watch dog. Four bags were mine, but hey, I'd packed a lot of important stuff, like spare batteries for my camera, lots of spare batteries.
Not to mention some of my un-sharpened knife pendants and bracelets for some outfits and a flattened beach ball for the beach and my game boy and my iPod and my laptop and-… Well, you get the point, I was completely prepared for anything.
All of us perked up when we heard the announcer stating; 'Attention ladies and gentlemen,' in a sing-song male voice, kind of like a salesperson, 'Boarding of the Jennifer Rose will now commence.'
And I heard Thistle excitably babbling, 'Oh my god Faye we're really going on a boat to Gundagai Island!' And I looked in time to see Ryou ruffle her hair on her other side and smile, the three of them practically looked like a family of their own.
I don't think I'd ever been on a boat this lovely before, it was huge and sleek and already I was tired as we climbed up a round of stairs, me lagging behind the ever-energetic Mokie, but even he was having trouble keeping up with Mr. Kaiba's long strides as he scoured the stairs two at a time comfortably, with those legs of his, I didn't doubt he'd be able to go three at a time.
'Wait for me…' I puffed in a distressed tone as I paused to lean against the wall and catch my lost breath, taking everything in at once as Seto stopped between two steps, looking down at me over one of those sexy broad shoulders,
'We have to get to our room before other passengers start boarding, we wouldn't want to inform the press where we are or we'll get no rest.' By the end of that sentence he was trudging back down to meet me and Mokuba leaned his elbows on the railing (which surprisingly he could actually reach) to busy himself looking down at the grand dining hall. Where tables and chairs were placed like white snowflakes on red carpet with fancy little napkins and glistening silverware. I was busy getting lost in the view myself that I screamed when like some sort of princess he scooped me up into those strong, capable arms, a furious blush elapsing over my cheeks as I tried to hide within my hair feebly and stiffened rigidly, squeaking; 'Mr. Kaiba! What're you-'
'You need to catch your breath, fine, you can catch while I carry, any complaints can be directed to the website.' and arrogantly, I knew he knew inside I was doing mental cartwheels in figure eights whooping like some sort of hyperactive children's cartoon as I looked away quietly and gnawed on my lower lip.
Mokuba didn't seem to have realized we'd started moving again so I called over Mr. Kaiba's shoulder; 'Mokie! Keep up!' and the early-teen blinked upon hearing his name and swirled around to fumble after what felt to be a steady pace by Mr. Kaiba from being held against his body when in all honesty I was amazed at how many stairs he covered in so little time, I suppose growing up mounting stair cases as tall as sky scrapers tended to force you to master the art, a girl like me just wouldn't be able to understand I suppose, I smiled to myself.
He noticed my smile and tilted his head, his trained blue eyes showing mild interest as he noted; 'You're smiling like the cat with the canary feathers on it's lips, why?' and I gave him a sassy glance and shook my head;
'Oh, nothing…' He seemed completely fine with my answer, in fact he liked being able to make up excuses himself, I could tell by that little smirk he'd place on his lips and that thoughtful look that would ravish those azure orbs that were his eyes. I looked up at the bright white light features in the ceiling above as suddenly we'd stopped moving at an angle and his body started functioning for a flat surface and I looked at him questioningly, trying to find out when exactly he was going to put me down by his expression, he seemed thoughtful, in one of his famous trances, the wheels in that genius mind turning on a subject he seemed to be struggling with, the smirk had left him, 'What's wrong?' I murmured softly to him.
I knew he always had something to stress about, but normally he would push those aside with me somehow, he'd always crack some sort of light-hearted comment, I got to witness the side of Seto Kaiba that Mokuba had only told me about before that many people believed was a myth, but it was real, I felt it in my heart when I saw those blue eyes light up at the sight of me, even if he didn't touch me in public, even if he didn't say much, even if he wasn't gushy, upfront romantic, I was so in love with the way he was that it didn't matter to me, he cared and he showed it in his own stubborn, airheaded, even sometimes bratty way, and that was enough to matter.
'You know I can walk…' I reminded him lightly as he glanced down at me as if just remembering I was here, his brown bangs resting upon his dark lashes as I watched his eyes focus and stared shamelessly into them, I could kill hours being lost in this man's amazing eyes.
'You could, if I put you down,' he mused and started walking again without another word, it wasn't up for debate, he was simply stating a fact, and I pouted, oh well, if he was going to be difficult, I found myself smiling at his antics, swinging my feet slightly I shifted closer against him comfortably and he knew he'd won, his stride picking up a tab smugly.
'So where's the room we're staying in?' I wondered aloud, looking at the pretty plates engraved with luxuriously scripted numbers that passed us by.
Mr. Kaiba must have been in a very informative mood today, for he answered helpfully, 'You'll see.' And I felt ever so enlightened, you know, because he couldn't have possibly explained it in more detail right? I sighed and squirmed a little as the muscles in his arms tensed to shift me bluntly upright as I staggered forward a few steps to get my bearings and then cleared my throat like I hadn't to catch whatever dignity I had left, smoothing out my skirt and casting Mr. Kaiba a quizzical look, 'Tired of carrying me?'
He smirked with a simple 'Hm. Not quite.' And he flicked his wrist lightly and something shining and metallic flew lightly my direction and I tried to catch it as smoothly as he'd tossed it, but I missed miserably and it landed on the ground to the left of my feet and I sheepishly scooped it up as Mokuba giggled,
'Nice catch.'
'Oh hush,' I huffed, flushing in humiliation as I saw the number on the key matched the door closest to me, 415. I slipped the key inside the keyhole and it fit smooth as liquid and I turned it and the door clicked, I took a hold of the gleaming silver handle and opened the door, risking one last glance at the awaiting Kaibas, Mokuba looking anticipating, and Mr. Kaiba looking smug and cocky.
Suddenly getting a little frightened of what may await me I let the door swing open and hesitated in the doorway, before finally leaning myself forward to get some momentum and entered the room. I was immediately taken in by the smooth, white marble tiles beneath my simple brown boots with awe, marble always had a luxurious quality about it, and I was immediately greeted with a plushie, periwinkle felt lounge with vibrant blue silk throw pillows and silver embroidered traditional square shaped cushion, giving an Antarctic, crystallized theme throughout the room as I took in the heavy silver silk curtains drawn back to crystal clear glass slide-doors that lead to the balcony right out with the ocean view framing the room with a perfect base of blue. As I stepped through into the lounge room, taking in the pearly black LCD mounted on the wall, not that I'd be needing to turn on that TV in a place like this, those banana chairs out on the balcony looked like it would be the loveliest setting to share with Mr. Kaiba, there were two, and I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, I could feel the breeze that would stroke my hair and tease the button-down blouse he was wearing in my fantasy open some more with some loose levi's and a perfect pair of brown Prada sunglasses on his face and maybe even barefooted, he'd look amazing in an island paradise outdo, but he'd look amazing in anything in my opinion, I guess I wasn't hard to please when it came to him.
Looking away from the left side of the room I turned to the right, seeing more drawn back silk curtains that would separate the bedroom from this living-room granting me full view of an amazingly intricate silver and navy blue doona covering a king-sized bed, there looked to be beautiful sapphire flowers swirling in silver, crude, thorned vines patterning it and it felt so carefully made beneath my fingertips when I approached and touched it, grinning like a child, I could see the door to where the ensuite was left open and I could even see from here a tub that looked big enough to be a spa, a hot tub, made of marble like the floor, with black and white vases with oils lined up behind the silver, gleaming taps. So many fantastic daydreams swirled and collided in my head until I was sapped speechless, so I just turned to them hoping he could somehow decipher what I wanted to express through the dumbfounded look on my face, then something occurred to me, 'There's only one bed.' Was what I came out, looking between the three of us questioningly, had they anticipated this? What was their plan? Had this caught them off guard as much as it had me?
Seto smirked and shook his head as if in a calming motion, to show he'd prepared for this, that this fit into plan easily and Mokuba, as if they'd rehearsed this very gesture, held out his hand just in time as Seto swept something out of his belt and dropped it into his tanned hand, another key, with a different number. 416.
'Is that such a good idea?' I stammered, unsure of whether I was worried for little Mokuba being all alone in a whole room to himself, or that I was sharing a room alone with Mr. Kaiba, sharing a bed alone in a room with Mr. Kaiba. Yes, we'd been a kind of item for two months, but I still maintained my own residence, and I'd only been in his room for a grand total of thirty minutes and I don't think he even knows the colour of the walls of my room. We'd kept our relationship strictly safe, while personal, respectful and by the rules, this was a huge step into unknown territory, and I was a little frightened of what would become of it, I swallowed as Mokuba shrugged,
'I'm a big boy Leena, I don't need a babysitter.' and with that he spun on his heel, 'I'll be next door if you need me!' and he trotted out as I reached lamely after him, stammering;
'B-but eh…' Then a sick feeling settled in my stomach as I angled my head as slightly as I could to see the final occupant in the room with me as he leaned against the wall, crossing his arms and regarding me with his naturally ice-cool stare, 'You look nervous.'
I laughed nervously in my attempt to loosen the situation and turned away so he wouldn't see my shaking hands. My heart leaped when I heard his footsteps and his gave weighing me down like bags of lead. As he came closer, his shadowed intentions were unclear to me, and I couldn't help but jump to conclusions, scary fantasies beyond perfect, innocent kisses were starting to become a probability, what was he suggesting? Us sharing a room, what was he implying? Was this his way of telling me to step up and put out? I bit the corner of my lower lip where he wouldn't be able to see and flinched when I felt his hand land on my shoulder, was he going to spin me around and would I see a dark look in those normally impassive eyes? Would there be a frightening lust and dominating pressure that I would be powerless to escape?
I waited, still and my breath caught in my throat, but his touch barely weighed me down at all, 'Leena, relax, this is your vacation too.' Was all he said, his voice smooth and slightly patronizing as I jumped and glanced at him, trying so hard to read that perfectly angular face, but there was nothing, none of what I'd been afraid of, none of that uncontrolled testosterone she'd seen in men before, he was perfectly in check with himself and there were no signs of strain at all, in fact, he seemed calmer than normal, his expression gentler as he blinked his dark lashes and abruptly started for the door, 'I have some arrangements I need to finalize, I suggest you get comfortable and enjoy yourself.'
His footsteps echoed and I watched that gravity-defying trenchcoat wave behind him dramatically as he swept from the room, the door closing behind him. For a few moments I just blinked at the door like a hypnotized chicken, then I smiled a little and a wave of relief had washed over me and blew out of my mouth in a sigh, I was right to trust him.
