Story Name: Dementia
Chapter Name: Unexpected
Warnings: AU, a bit OOC, gore and murder, boy/boy, minute torture, cursing, and general strangeness.
Summary: Sasuke Uchiha was many things: traitor, avenger, ninja, and murderer. He never thought he would add supernatural/magical creature to that list. It was Orochimaru's fault, somehow. He was sure of it. Although, the strange voice he's been hearing lately might also have a hand in his new… problem. Damn wizards.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or Naruto. If I did, well, things would be a hell of a lot stranger than they already are. And that's saying something.
Authors Notes: I wrote this two years ago, found it a couple months ago, and pulled a major overhaul on it. I'm not even sure if they are technically the same thing anymore. Also, I try editing to the best of my abilities but I might have missed something, if anyone points something out it would be much appreciated. A beta, however, would be very lovely and might kick-start my ass into writing more often. Although many reviews might help. Well, tell me what you think, and please, do not favorite or alert without leaving a review first. I will not be very happy.
Authors Notes Two: Sorry this took so long, I was in a rut about what to do next. I'm still not sure I'm very happy with this but this still feels complete. Also, I blame Underworld for how this turns out. I had a marathon the other day and it jump started a strange part of my brain that spawned this. Hope it turns out well, tell me what you think, please. Ja Ne!
'…sure but he's hurt. It's strange, I don't know who he is. …No, it's not Him, so it doesn't hurt. …Oh come on, he's as old as I am! It's doubtful he's in league with Him. …I just said I don't know who he is! He obviously isn't a student here, anyway….'
Sasuke came around slowly, feeling like his head was about to fall right off of his shoulders. Or it was going to explode, either way, he was not happy. And that strange voice was having a one-sided conversation again. He really wished he could hear the other side. And who was he talking about? Nothing he could worry about at that point in time.
Sasuke wasn't sure what it was that brought him back from the world of darkness but he would have sworn that when he fell unconscious he was never to wake up again. However, he did wake up and well aware that he was being carried. Strong, cold arms pressed against his back and under his knees, holding him like one would a sick child. It was kind of degrading and Sasuke was hoping that nobody would see him even though he knew the chances of that were very slim. The embarrassment was enough to make him wish he hadn't woken up, but only for the barest of moments. Sasuke heard a masculine voice that he did not know muttering something about 'had no choice', 'would have died', 'hope they will understand', and 'will never forgive this'. Sasuke wondered who he was and what he was talking about. He also wondered why some strange man was carrying him somewhere.
It took a moment for the confusion to fade away and the memory of earlier that night to come back to him. The air stuck in Sasuke's throat and his heartbeat increased rapidly. He was being carried by the vampire that he had spoken to earlier after being attacked by a large grey werewolf and almost bleeding to death. His mind stuck and repeated this impossible information, trying to find a way around the terrifying knowledge. The longer it replayed in his head the harder he found it was to breathe and he was suddenly very aware of every ache in his body. The werewolf bites, one on his left leg and one on his left arm, and a strange churning, burning sensation that seemed to originate in the middle of his stomach. Sasuke wasn't sure how that happened or what it meant, and decided that he would worry about it later seeing as it wasn't very bad, yet, and he had more important things to worry about at that moment. Like how was he going to get to Kabuto alone when he was fairly certain the vampire wasn't going to leave him anytime soon and he was also most likely unable to walk. Knowing his luck this night was going to get worse.
Sasuke was sure the vampire was taking him to one of the two lords, Orochimaru or Voldemort. He wasn't sure which one the vampire would choose, yet, seeing as he reported to a different Lord than Sasuke did. It took another long moment for his brain to remember that the two lords were in a meeting along with most of their followers. That was one of the reasons Sasuke had decided to leave the manor, because everyone else should have been busy. Now he was going to be in the thick of the meeting. Neither one of the lords was going to be very happy about the interruption. Sasuke wondered if he would be able to pull off still being unconscious so he wouldn't have to deal with the upcoming situation which was bound to be, interesting, to say the least.
"Nice to see you're awake." The vampire said from above him.
Well shit, there goes that plan. "Can you pretend I'm still out of it?" Sasuke asked softly even as he felt slightly disgusted with himself for having to rely on another. He was surprised when his voice came out sounding harsh and strained. It's almost like I have been screaming, but I don't remember that, he thought.
Oh, sure. Why not have him pretend and then have the rest of the vampires blow your cover? Very smart idea, idiot, the voice whispered in the back of his head. Sasuke was slightly surprised that it was actually addressing him but then he realized that this voice was different, harsher, crueler sounding. He knew not to trust random voices in his head, one rule every ninja had and followed. If you started hearing voices it could be a genjutsu that an enemy had you under and it should be treated with care. You did scream, but only once. The voice whispered again, sounding a little though that really mattered, it was bad enough that Sasuke let himself cry out in the first place he didn't need voices feeling sorry for him on top of it.
"I'm sure that can be arranged. It would actually be better for you if you did pass out again." The vampire said dryly. It took Sasuke a second to realize that he was being answered. The voice in his head seemed to have spoken longer than the few seconds it had actually been.
Sasuke didn't respond when he spoke. He had just registered that the chest he was held against didn't have a heartbeat. He was a vampire, nothing but a living corpse, so of course he didn't have a heartbeat. The vampire was breathing, however, and that was what threw him off. Nevertheless, Sasuke was uncomfortably shocked when he found that out even though he really should have already known. There were very few things nothing was going to be right ever again.
The feel of the movement changed, it had been so subtle Sasuke had almost forgotten that he was moving and not just standing there, and the vampire came to a stop. Sasuke was about to give up on pretending to be unconscious when he heard a new voice say, "Bloody hell! What happened?" The person, a male, sounded shocked and strangely excited about the situation. Things must have been getting boring if he considered a half-dead boy being carried by a vampire exciting. On second thought, it was pretty strange…. But Sasuke was not comfortable with being entertainment.
"There was a problem in the forest." The vampire said in a bored tone of voice. "Greyback attacked the child. He is one of Lord Orochimaru's. Let us in, I need to see the lords at once." Obviously he didn't feel the need to say too much. Sasuke was a little surprised that he knew which werewolf it was, he assumed the vampire was talking about the large gray one, at least, Greyback, gray wolf, get it? I think the pain is getting to you, that harsh voice said with a sort of vindictive amusement. He wasn't going to question if that was possible.
"Of course, Alexander." The doorman of a guard said, sounding a little stiff. Miffed because he's not getting more out of him than what he already has, the annoying voice chimed in. This new voice was being very talkative; Sasuke really wanted it to stop before it drove him crazy.
Sasuke was again surprised at finding out a name of one of Lord Voldemort's men, and was irritated with himself for it. This time the name was to the vampire and somehow he felt a little disappointed. He thought a vampire would have a cooler name than Alexander and was a little chagrined at that. It felt biased and, while he was known to be so every now and again, it felt a little wrong when it happened to the one who was helping him. No matter how unwanted the help was.
Sasuke heard the sound of the mansion's doors' creaking open and felt the soft jerk when Alexander started walking again. He let himself zone out a for little bit with the pain until the vampire slowed down and came to another stop. There was another repeat of the moment at the front door. Sasuke felt like laughing in his head when the guards asked the exact same thing and Alexander repeated his previous words. He found it slightly humorous that the guards were so unoriginal when asking what happened, and these two, a man and a woman, both had the same touch of excitement in their voices when they asked.
After a moment they opened the doors and Sasuke heard a swell of voices. There were a lot of people on the other side of the doors and he was suddenly nervous; he did not want to be seen in such a vulnerable position. Even with faking unconsciousness there was the basic instinct of a shinobi telling him that he needed to avoid confrontation and get to a medic as fast as he could without being seen by any other. He felt Alexander take a few steps into the room, heard the doors swing shut with a thump, and listened as everything grew very, very silent in the meeting room.
"Sasuke!" he heard a sharp female voice, Karin, shout in fear. Her voice grated on his ears, just like everything else about her.
"Bloody hell!" some of the wizards said, the accents making the words sound so different than what Sasuke was originally used too.
"Shit! What the fuck?" some of the ninja said, they sounded confused, and there English was a lot stranger than the wizards. Most likely because they didn't originally speak that language. Sasuke heard Suigetsu loud and clear; he added quite a few more expletives, though.
Sasuke wondered when Orochimaru would notice him, anytime since Karin screamed his name. He heard footsteps approach and the mutters and murmurings that had started to spread abruptly fell silent again. Whoever was coming towards them had to be one of the Lords, but Sasuke just wasn't sure which one. Maybe both.
"Sasuke….What happened to him?" a familiar voice, Orochimaru, asked, his voice hissing on the s's when he spoke. Sasuke would blame the snake side of him, but, he seemed to like the effect. It creeped Sasuke out sometimes, this being one of those few occasions.
Alexander shifted his weight –and Sasuke- around before he spoke. "I found him outside, in the forest. He was attacked by Greyback-" Sasuke heard sharp inhales at the name and a few people let out startled gasps, must be a well-known werewolf, then –"And another wolf although I am not sure which one it was. A smaller brown one, in any case, not that it is extremely relevant. Sasuke had lost a lot of blood. Too much blood, in fact. I am afraid that I had to help him or he would be dead right now."
Silence met those words. Sasuke wondered what he meant by 'helping'. Somehow he didn't think he would like the answer. Oh will you be surprised, the voice purred in his head. Sasuke tried to block it out; it seemed way too smug for his liking.
Another voice spoke up, remarkably like Orochimaru's, but a little harsher and it seemed to belong to someone who wasn't quite sane. "You changed him, Alexander? I was under the impression that it took a while for that to work." The voice seemed to promise pain if it turned out that he had been lied too. It had to be the voice of Lord Voldemort, or, that was Sasuke's best guess. He was right.
"You are not mistaken, my lord. He is still alive, for now, but he will become one of mine. There is no getting around it. I do worry about the effect of the werewolf curse, however. It was in his system long before I initiated the change, and it is still there." Alexander said. It felt like he was quieter when he said the last part and it had Sasuke thinking that he hadn't meant for it to be heard so clearly.
Sasuke's body felt heavy, bright lights flashed behind his eyelids and he felt the sudden and unexplainable urge to vomit. He had never felt so weak, so helpless before. Alexander had changed him into a vampire. On top of being changed into a werewolf. Sasuke didn't want to know if that was even possible, didn't want to think about it. Even if it wasn't possible, though, trust him to be the exception to the rule.
"Is he in danger?" Sasuke heard Karin ask softly, she sounded very close, and he felt a soft touch on his forehead. He wanted to pull away from her, but couldn't.
Alexander moved back so that her hand dropped away from him. It was almost like he read his mind, but Sasuke didn't think too heard on that. There were a lot of things Sasuke wasn't thinking very hard on at that moment, or at all. "It is impossible to say at this time." The vampire said coldly, icicles almost seemed to form on his words. His stance shifted, turned offensive even as he held Sasuke. "However, he did have time to speak before he fell unconscious. Lord Orochimaru, why did you not tell him the reason he was to stay inside? He was very shocked when he found out creatures like me existed. I can only assume that you forgot; I do not want to imagine that you purposely failed to explain something so important." Alexander sounded like he did think that, and if it turned out to be true the results would be very unpleasant.
"I did not withhold information from him purposefully." Orochimaru at least had the decency to sound offended, even if neither Sasuke nor Alexander were sure if he was being entirely truthful.
"You did not withhold information from him purposefully, maybe, but you did keep this boy's existence a secret from me, Orochimaru. Why is that, I wonder?" Lord Voldemort all but hissed angrily.
The groups' odd silence broke apart and soft accusations were shot from wizard to ninja and back again. Obviously the peace was still a fragile affair.
"What does one boy matter?" Orochimaru asked offhand. "He is special; his bloodline is rare. Only two members are left from when his clan was massacred. The other survivor is his brother, the one who killed off the rest of the clan. I was hoping to keep this one alive, seeing as he is valuable." Sasuke saw red at these words. Did he really mean so little that Orochimaru truly thought this, or was it all a cover? It was too thought out to be random.
"You should not speak as if he were an object. If you valued him so much then why did you not take better care of him? It is not only his fault that this has atrocity has been allowed to happen. I would even put the majority of the blame on you." Alexander's words seemed to make the room drop a few degrees.
This thought reminded Sasuke of the uncomfortable heat in his stomach. It seemed to be growing steadily worse, and it spread when he turned his attention to it. He wanted to keep up the unconscious act but the pain grew razor claws and dug deep into his gut. With a sharp inhale he clenched his jaw and bit back the cry of pain that he would be damned if he allowed to escape.
Alexander shifted Sasuke in his grip until he was more upright. Sasuke opened his eyes into narrow slits, the light was too bright to open them any wider, and fought to keep from groaning with pain as his arm was jostled by Alexander's movement. Sasuke was deliriously happy that it was his right side that was pressed against the vampire's chest or else he would have been in even more agony than what he was in already. Sasuke didn't want to imagine the reaction if he broke out screaming in front of Orochimaru. I would never live it down.
"Sasuke…." he heard Orochimaru address him, now that they knew he was awake.
Sasuke had the urge to cuss him out but just barely restrained himself. "Why does my stomach feel like something is trying to carve its way out?" he instead asked Alexander, hoping it was nothing serious. Unfortunately his day just didn't seem to want to work out that way.
"That…isn't right." Alexander hesitated when he spoke. That in itself said everything to Sasuke. The arms tightened slightly around his body.
Well shit, again. The world was just laughing at him that night. His heart picked up its pace, shock, adrenaline and panic stirring it to move faster than normal. The burn in his stomach moved more, spreading out in waves and ripping at his insides. Sasuke's body tried to curl up in on itself even as a hoarse choking sound worked its way from his throat, tearing at him. He was shaking hard all of a sudden; his muscles were twitching like his body was trying to throw off a fever or something.
Oh this cannot be good, he thought.
The voice in his head laughed darkly, No, but it will be fun.
Authors Note Again: Well, tell me what you think. And again, don't favorite or alert without leaving a review first. Thanks!
