for veltpunch-chan! i heart you, you motherfucker you. this is part of the 4th shippuden movie, in which naruto and yamato somehow travel to the past in this ruined city called Ruran and subsequently meet Minato and his team of Aburame Shibi and Akimichi Chouza, who are there to protect the Queen, a girl named Sara, from this evil puppet master guy named Mukade. There. That's all you need to know. Starts at the end where they kill the evil guy and Minato tries to put everything back together the way it should be by erasing their memories-but it doesnt work that way.

I mean we all knew I was a giant minato/naru fan, and this movie was just TOO GOOD to pass up.

"If" is the ending song to the movie.

"The Hirashin kunai I gave you." Minato began.

Naruto looked up. "Huh?"

"Give it to me—Let's seal the Ryuumyaku completely!" The blonde insisted.

Naruto was almost reluctant to give it back. She'd been hoping to keep it, actually; as a souvenir of meeting her father.

But it seems that dream couldn't come true.

She placed it back in his hand, having only a brief moment to look at it longingly before it was swiped away, placed back where it was supposed to.

"Yamato Taichou!-!" Naruto flailed, pointing rudely at Minato. "This dude is—

But was once again interrupted.

"I think it's time for us to say our farwells." Minato cut in. Naruto wondered if he was doing it purposefully.

Sara looked distraught. "What? It's time for you to go?"

Naruto shrugged. "I guess so!" And then, with a smile. "Sara, you did what you had to! You really are a great Queen!"

"Yes!" She said longingly. "I'll never forget you, Naruto!"

"I think it would be best if we were to forget these memories." Interrupted Minato. Naruto turned to him sharply. "We've already messed with time enough."

"Wha—"She blinked. "But hold on! You said you had something to tell me!"

"Yes, that's true." Minato agreed. "But I'm sure I'll be able to tell you someday."

And I'm pretty sure you WON'T! Roared Naruto in her mind, unable to say it aloud, though was very close to doing so.

"If you don't tell me now," Naruto pleaded, getting to her knees. "You'll never get a second chance!"

"I think you would surely know." Minato smiled.

But Naruto just wanted to punch it right off his face.

So she did so.

"You won't!" She cried, getting to her feet. Minato was stunned, rubbing at his cheek and sprawled at the floor, looking up at her. "You won't because you're going to die don't you see?-!"

"Naruto—" Yamato began warningly, stepping forward.

But Naruto pushed him off. "You're going to DIE!" She cried at him. "You're going to die and you're… you're…" She couldn't even say it, looking away feebly.

Minato was still looking up at her, finally unsure and differentiating from his cool and calm self.

"You're going to leave me…" She whispered, so soft that she hoped no one else could see it.

Oh goddammit, why was she getting so emotional now, of all times?

She saw confusing flash in the older blonde's eyes, confusion and something else that she couldn't define. But only for a moment, before she turned away and abruptly walked to the edge of the bridge, right to the edge where it almost crumbled, if only to stop looking at him.

The white light continued to grow, as did Minato's seal.

Naruto could feel it taking over her, slowly, rising up like a colossal current that swelled just beneath her feet and then—

A bright, white light.

And nothing.
