The Lovely Black Lily And The Eternal Scourge
Info note: This is set before Lenore dies, but in this story her older sister finds Ragamuffin. Lenore lives in paris in this story.
On the streets of Paris (Ragamuffin pov)
After weeks on a street corner, I was covered in dirt. After the witch had turned me into a doll I couldn't move or speak, but I could see, hear and smell. It was torturous, the city's various horses constantly spewing shit and dirt on my face and the rain making puddles I had no choice but to sit in. And the dogs, the goddamned dogs would chew on my arms and on my head, ripping and tearing with their sharp teeth and their rancid breath in my face. After only a month on that street corner I was sure I would be destroyed fairly quickly as a doll. Then, on a Tuesday, a young woman came by 'le Yum'.
She couldn't have been more than twenty. Her long platinum hair was in beautiful ringlets that trailed down her back. Her black dress was long and elaborate, the lace was the same color as her hair. She smelled like candy and flowers and delicious, warm blood. She stood by the curb for a few minutes, and when her grey eyes fell on me they lit up.
"Oh, you poor little thing. How could someone leave such a cutie abandoned? Mon dieu! Ma petite sœr would adore you! But, I might want to keep you, you silly little dollie." She held me to her chest in a hug, her beating heart next to my head. "Oh my! There are holes all over you!" She opened her small bag and pulled out a needle and black thread. As she patched up all the holes, I wondered what it would be like, being a doll in the girl's room for all eternity. She was beautiful, but this was no life for a powerful, savage killer. As she finished with the last hole, the needle sunk into her thumb.
"Ow!" She pulled out the needle and droped me, the blood drippped into a puddle on my head. Yes! Yesyesyes! "Ah! Oh, my!...Dollie?"
"Aaaaaw, yeah!" I cracked my neck and looked over at her. She had looked like a giant when I had first seen her, but she was acctually quite pettite. "Miss, I'm eternally gratefull to you for breaking the witch's horrid spell, but my name isn't 'dollie'."
"What? I-I'm sorry, I don't understand what's going-"
"I am Ragamuffin, the eternal vampire scourge!" Her eyes widened in fear at my name and she tried too run, but I grabbed her wrist, keeping her where she was. "A witch put a spell on me as punishment for killing her sister, trapping me in that doll form. It took a drop of blood to break the spell. It was your blood. As I said, I am eternally gratefull to you." Her terrified face relaxed slightly, and a confused little girl turned the corner and was walking towards us. I felt a little bit regretfull that I would have to kill them. "But, now that I am myself again, I must..." I lunged at her, and she turned to run again, the small girl's eyes welled up with tears. "FEEED!"
"AAAAAGH!" We fell to the ground, and the little crying girl pulled a knife out of her stuffed kitty and ran towards us.
"NO! Get away from my sister, Mister Muffinman!" Oh great, more sisters. The young woman was stil crying and screaming, but her eyes flew open and she looked to her sister.
"No! Lenore, run!" The crying girl didn't listen, and instead jumped onto my back and ran me through with her knife. Usually, a knife doesn't hurt me, but hers did.
"OW! Sonofa bitch!" I backed away from the young woman and looked at Lenore. "What the hell did you do with that knife? It hurts!" Lenore smirked and took out the knife.
"Garlic and Holy water, bitch." My eyes widened.
"You'd better watch it little girl, threatening the life of a vampire as powerfull as me is a very bad idea."
"Oh yeah? Well threatening the life of my sister is a very bad idea! So if I were you, I'd be the one watching my back!" I backed down, I knew when I was beaten.
"Very well, you've bested me. So, are you going to kill me now or something?" There was a beautiful tinkling laugh from behind me, and the young woman got up. She was wobbly at first, but her sister helped her stay on her feet.
"Nonsense! You'll stay with us now, so we can keep you out of too much trouble. If that's alright with you and Lenore?" She looked down at her sister, who sighed.
"Only if he has to do chores too!"
"What? Chores? Are you kidding?"
"Either you live with us and do chores or I knife you, buddy!" I sighed.
"Fine." The elder sister smiled kindly.
"I'm Lillian, and this is my sister, Lenore. Its nice to make your aquaintance, Ragamuffin." She held out her hand, which I reluctantly shook. Lenore glared at me from behind her sister and stuck out her tounge. Lillian turned to leave the street corner, and she fainted.
"Oh!" I reached out to help her, and Lenore tried to push her up from behind. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and her knees, and a few onlookers stared at us.
"Lenore, get on my back." She looked up at me and shook her head. I sighed. "Look, I can fly. If you tell me where to go, I can take you home. So put away your knife, and get on my back." She pouted and put her knife back into her toy kitty's gut and crawled up my back. We were high up in the air when Lenore finally spoke.
"If you don't take us home, I'll knife you. Go left." I did, and after a few more minutes of flying, we were almost there. "I can see my house from here! Lily! Lily wake up I can see our house!" The young woman moaned and rubbed her eyes.
"OH, MON DIEU!" Her hand was at her mouth and she pinched herself over and over. "We're in the sky! Oh, and there's our house!" She looked around and realized I was flying and wrapped her arms around me in a hug. "Oh, Ragamuffin this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen! Thank you sooooo much!"
When we got to their house, Lillian and Lenore seemed stunned that they were feeling the earth under their feet again. Looking at them, I felt a weird twinge in my chest.
"Erk!" I doubled over and I felt like I couldn't breathe. "What the heck is this?" The girls ran over, scared looks on their faces.
"Ragamuffin, what's wrong?"
"I-I don't...know, feels like...can't...breathe!"
"Uh, maybe you're body is still adjusting to being in your normal form? Y'know, like growing pains?" I nodded.
"Y-yeah, that must be it..." As the pain in my chest went away, I saw that both girls were teary eyed, though Lenore didn't want to show it. I smiled and tousled their hair. "I'm alright girls. See?" I stood up and flew circles in the air to prove it to them. Lillian smiled and Lenore pouted, embarassed that she had worried about me.
"If you ever scare Lillian like that again, I'll knife you."
