Trying Again
Chapter 1
Kiba dropped the bag on to the floor, angry at his roommate. Why did he have to pay for everything around here? The family Kiba had come from was one where they believed you had to make your own path in the world. It did have an effect on Kiba though, making him tolerate his patience.
"Hello my dear roommate" someone cried happily.
Toshiko had finally made it. A girl around the age of 18 bounded in. She had brown hair that was pulled into a large ponytail revealing a simple like minded girl. Her eyes were a shocking colour of blue, deep and alluring. Toshiko had a one-track mind and was always opting for the best.
"Toshiko would you stop it with the cheerfulness?" Kiba asked looking annoyed.
"Why, I'm your best friend you should treat me more nicely" Toshiko said with a mock sad smile on her face.
Ignoring her Kiba turned to see a cluttered room, everywhere boxes were piled up. There was going to be a lot of unpacking to do. The city was a big step for Kiba because he was moving away from everything he had ever known.
Growing up on a farm had its advantages since he was always close to the forest where he felt more at home. But why had he moved to the city anyway because Toshiko wanted to of course. They had first met at 10 years of age.
She lived in the village further up, that day had been a meeting of sorts to bond each other with a strong friendship that couldn't easily be broken.
Toshiko looked at Kiba intently. He didn't know her feelings for him. The old cliché falling in love with some-one at first sight had occurred. To admit he was gorgeous. Black strewn messy hair and icy blue eyes. His sculpted chest and beautiful voice like velvet.
Sadly he could never be her's, Kiba was more interested in getting the apartment ready rather than focusing on a relationship. A silence began to creep in as the two scurried through their thoughts. In truth they were frightened of the possibility of arguing like most days.
"I'm going out" Kiba spoke shattering the silence.
"Well make sure you get some food" Toshiko called after him.
Kiba entered the streets full of people trying to dodge the rain gently falling, Kiba looked up to the sky it was grey and overcast. It hadn't been in sunshine for quite a long time not like his childhood growing up on the farm.
People tried to budge past him, annoying him further. There had been something etching in the back of his mind all day. A single voice saying 'Search for paradise'.
He was confused he recognised the words but what did it mean paradise? Paradise to him meant a long forest that stretched to the ends of the earth. Fields and meadows to run about in with delicious water to lap up.
He turned into an alleyway to avoid the busy streets. A young boy sat with a cat on the steps gently stroking it. His hair was brown and fell down to his ears. Friendly brown eyes turned to look at Kiba as he caught Kiba looking at him.
Toboe looked estranged at this older male intently staring him down. For some reason a sense of déjà-vu crept up his spine. He seemed to recognise him, and all these feelings are recognition formed into a name Kiba.
"Kiba" Toboe stated.
"Kid how the hell do you know my name?" Kiba roared at him stepping back.
"I don't know" Toboe cried back standing up to face Kiba.
A strange pain began in Toboe's head as Kiba's eyes stared at him again. Probably just a headache Toboe thought, but he began to think it was something much more than that since it started to spread down his body. It felt like his body was on fire and at the same time an icy chill swept through his veins. Gasping he clutched his hands to his head as the pain increases.
Kiba looked at the young boy in puzzlement, why was he looking like he was in so much pain? Kiba's eyes widened as he saw what was happening to the brown haired boy.
Fur had begun to spout on his hands and face; Toboe's voice began to change into snarls and growls. He screamed in pain, what was happening to him? His canines became wolf like and a small stump began to grow out of Toboe.
Then in Toboe's place, a young brown wolf stood whimpering and looking at Kiba in fear. On his paw were a few simple bangles.
What happened? A voice in Kiba's mind suddenly whimpered. It sounded a lot like Toboe's.
"Who's speaking?" Kiba shouted out in the city sending the birds flying into the sky.
A reply came but it was inside his head again.
Toboe.
Tohisko stared impatiently at her watch, where was Kiba it had been an exact hour and he hadn't returned surely it didn't take this long for him to get some measly groceries? Well it was the best option to go and search from him.
The streets had doubled with people over the last year since everyone was heading towards the mayor's speech. Toshiko couldn't care less about the city all she wanted was to get some money and maybe one day marry Kiba.
Yes the possibility of that happening was one to zero.
Kiba saw Toshiko walking down the alley where he was standing, seeing him Toshiko came running but Kiba stepped back as he began to see fur growing on his hand.
Toshiko began to scream.
